All Legion members are essential, as is Rond Vidar. Do you think we'll ever see Rond Vidar again? Nope, we're gonna get "too much power" Yat from now on. Are there any Karate Kid's left? How many versions of Kinetix do you think there are?
When this is all over; Crybaby Prime ( a serial killer/mass murderer) is going to get redemption somehow. Then we get the Conner Kent show with special guest stars, blink and you'll miss 'em, limping dregs of the Legion after the Dan Didiot slaughter machine churns out more gore one more time.
I'm mainly sick of Didiot's kill 'em all edict so he can shoehorn in his politically correct versions. Look how he took a dump on Kirby's Fourth World characters. Now it's the Legions turn.
Hmmm.... had you mentioned regretting Zymyr's death, we might have seen eye-to-eye.
Lots of frothing fury for Didio, but not Johns? Kinda skipping a level here.
Johns is clearly going with a focus on the original (read: least-PC) versions of the Legionnaires, so the idea that this is leading to a PC-emphasis for the team is baseless. Johns is all about the original, white Star Boy as opposed to the threeboot black version, for example.
I don't know how the book will end, but seems to me redemption for Prime is probably not in the cards. That angle wasn't touch on in #3 or #4, and now we know he's villainous until the end of time.
AFAIK, the Fourth World characters were supposed to come back as-was, not the Morrison re-designs.
Karate Kids? Still have two, And this series hasn't cost us a version of Val Armorr, specifically. Clearly, Keith Giffen provided no consultation for this series...
Kinetix's story does not end with Lo3W #4. But to air out my biases, she'd be one of those that I'd categorize as non-essential. Never written particularly well in the reboot, and barely used at all (outside her metamorphosis/declothing) by Abnett/Lanning. As one of the panels in #4 illustrated, you see her on a page and you have to ask "OK, which of the naked female members of the reboot team is this?"

Johns is doing what he's told by Didio. Didio wants character deaths. He thinks it sells comics. He's the guy that greenlit that Captain Atom/ Monarch debacle. And I don't think we have any Karate Kids left since one was killed off in one of the Crisis' along with Triplicate Girl. The first version was killed during Paul Levitz' run.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Karate Kid-reboot and Karate Kid-threeboot are appear in Lo3W #3. Karate Kid who died in "Eye for an Eye" and the one who appeared in Lightning Saga then died in Countdown are considered one in the same. Johns either ignored his first death when he brought him back or has some unseen explanation about how he came back.

I'm not going to lament Kinetix' death, but before you consider her poorly written, you should check out the Hero History entry on her.
I'd feel better about Johns except that his stories come across as generally ignorant of the idea that there may be some characters that readers have genuine affection for...he's made no secret that Courtney "Stargirl" is meant to be his (sadly deceased at a young age due to a plane crash) sister...but somehow I can't imagine him shrugging off a future writer's decision to have her cruelly tortured and killed like some of us are supposed to shrug off his take on certain characters.
As for this, latest Time Trapper "reveal": It is as silly as all the previous reveals.
If you draw like Perez does I don't care the delays as far as it finish someday.
I think the finished products are excellent. Years ago books came out on time every month. Many with the same writers and artists there are now. What changed? Why is it acceptable to ignore deadlines now?

I'm definitely frustrated with delays as well, though I've given a pass to Perez for this series because the reason for the delays are clear from the work itself. Eighty to 90 Legionnaires per issue, plus costume changes reflected in some scenes like the Silver Age panel from #3, and 30 to 40 members of the LSV.

The man is now older, but nicer and better artist than ever, and that must take time.

Good link. My recollection, though, from the way Kinetix was written by Stern/Peyer/McGraw is she came off rather aimless with many changes for change sake. Maybe a re-read of that run may change my view, but I couldn't do it, as I have so many problems with that portion of the reboot.

But that's in the apples and oranges realm. We can't compare a fan's affection for a character to a creator's affection for their own characters, albeit work-for-hire. While Stargirl isn't creator-owned, odds are there's probably an agreement (either gentlemen's or on paper) in place to limit what can be done with her by other writers. It probably won't go as far as her being off-limits, ala the James Robinson/Jack Knight deal, but I would think something is in place for her.

I remember a similar comment made about Frank Miller. They said they don't care about the delays between issues of All Star Batman and Robin. This was back when issue #2 was a little late. Something like, "Miller's a great writer, I'm sure the story will come out great, so the delay doesn't matter. Who cares?".
I don't hear them say they don't care about the delays these days, quite the opposite, really.
As much as I like Perez's drawings, the man can't compensate for the story.Especially when there si none.
Two latest episodes were just both the same carp.Several guys die,one resurrects. And again. What a gooood scenario...It's just a big battle against Superboring Prime again. His allies are barely appearing in the last episode.I don't know what people like in this "character" but I would like to know because I think I must be missing something. Is it the "violence"? Is it the "power" he displays? Is it the "sadistic humor"?
Seriously,it's not good. At all.
And I'm not the kind of guy to be harsh with comics. But this time ,it's just too much carp for me.

I don't like him eighter. But he is somebody that you love to hate, kinda as a comic book Paris Hilton.
The difference is I don't spend bucks for Paris Hilton and I spent for Legion of Three Carps (Superboy,Prime and Kid Flash). But you might be right. Actually, both are kinda forced on me I'd say.I don't want to see them but wherever I go,they're here.Well,I guess if there are people interested in Paris Hilton,I should understand there are some interested in Superbaddy Prime.
But well,as someone said that comics is the best of all that Final Crisis thingie.
Except for GL and all the aliens,I think I'll be done with DC very soon if this keeps up.And shouldn't be a problem for me to stop buying their comics since I got interested in their universe thanks to this site or the clix in general. Always was more of a Marvel fan (tho it has several issues right now too).Bring me back Perez on the Avengers once they'll stop messing up the team and I'll be fine.:D
I'm not impressed with the Trapper Reveal, but it will get pushed away just like the equally silly Cosmic Boy reveal (sorry Rokk). I actually liked the reboot interpretation best, where the Trapper as a force of Entropy keeps changing his identities and past ("Sometimes I'm even one of you".). The actually reboot story stunk, but the concept was one I could get behind.
I was blah on this issue. I was confused, as they wrote the Conner reveal like it was a big surprise, but who else would it be given the obvious lead up? I'm sad to see poor Zoe go. If any Legionnaire with potential was completely botched time and again it was Kinetix, and now she comes to an inglorious end without any chance of saving her.
Gates better be sticking around. I want an all Gates, Wildfire, Quislet issue at some point.
