Player 1: Superman moves to here, picking up an object.
Player 2: Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy are mystics!
Player 1: What? Why? I'm not attacking.
Player 2: I know, I just have to be ready.
Player 1: Whatever. Okay, Batman moves to here.
Player 2: Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy are Batman Ally!
Player 1: Um, okay, I guess I can't outwit them then. Wonder Woman moves to here.
Player 2: Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy are still Batman Ally!
Player 1: Okay, fine. Red Tornado uses telekinesis to move Aquaman adjacent to Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy.
Player 2: Aaaaagh! Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy are um... Mystics! Go ahead, attack me now Aquaman!
Player 1: Batman outwits Lightning Lad's Energy Shield/Deflection.
Player 2: Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy are... Batman Ally? So you can't do that?
Player 1: Nope, sorry, you just declared them Mystics. And you can't redeclare a team ability if it would make my action illegal. So you're stuck with Mystics for Lightning Lad. But you can make Cosmic Boy a Batman Ally.
Player 2: Argh. Okay, fine.
Player 1: Green Lantern does a running shot, targeting Lightning Lad.
Player 2: Lightning Lad is Batman Ally?
Player 1: Nope, sorry, he's still a Mystic. You can't redeclare a team ability if it would make my action illegal. So you're stuck with Mystics for Lightning Lad.
Player 2: Argh. Okay, fine.
Player 1: Yay! I hit you for eleventy million clicks. And I take one click of Mystics damage.
Player 2: Oh. Lighting Lad is Ko-ed.
Player 1: Aquaman attacks Cosmic Boy who currently has the Batman Ally TA.
Player 2: Oh, uh, no, wait! Cosmic Boy changes to Mystics! I can do that, right?
Player 1: Sigh, yes, I was hoping you'd forget. Changing to Mystics won't invalidate my attack. So... Yay! I hit Cosmic Boy with the soda machine and knocked him into a wall. Take 7 clicks of damage! Oh, and I take one click
Player 2: Gah. There goes Cosmic Boy.
Player 1: Your turn.
actually as was pointed out in the rules forum, if you declare RS i can declare all Batman TA. Since they have not reached a step to declare a target, now they have to find something they can hit , like a wall or an object or something. But if there is nothing then you can make him choose which one to attack since if there were 3 he could get to you can make the 2 you care about batman TA and have him hit that weak mystic there or high DEF mystic.
AT Simon of the Moon:
Exactly the way it should have been from the start
1. Wild Card shouldnt make an ACTION Illegal and Should be somewhat flexible and should be reasonably known before I make my actions.
2. How many actions are we playing with?
And most importantly....
3. If its Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Red Tornado, Aquaman, and Green Lantern vs Lightning Lad, Cosmic Boy, Alfred, and Zatanna Zatara...heck yeah they should get their butts whipped.

I doubt thats correct. You got a link?

The whole thing is you declare at the start of the action what WC's will be.
When you declare RS, you have not chosen a target, there for when you make your WC's batman it has not made the action illegal unless there is NO targets that he can hit, which included walls, blocking terrain, objects.
Yeah, if that's true, that is a horrible ruling, they basically ok'ed a WC TA change midaction. The target may not have been declared, but the action has.

edit: d'oh!
how is it changing mid action? you declared the WC's at the start of the action when they declared RS, so how is that mid action?
edit came in after response...
But also remember this is only what he is alluding to, i brought it up in the rules forms for him to take note and check with GD so they can get it worded right and have it made clear.
The order was RS declared > All Bat ally declared > RS character moves.
Now there is no target, wouldn't that WC change make the action illegal? RS is a power action
but the action was not illegal, if there is other targets as stated before, a wall, object or blocking terrain are all legal targets.
How would it be different then if they were all ready Batman TA you could still RS and and make an attack against something there, the action is not illegal, you just have to declare a leagal target.
When you make a ranged attack like PB or EE without RS/HSS then you declare your targets at the same time, this is why you are unable to change, but the way RS works its totally different.

well ironically if the charge and i choose KC and they fail then there has to be a legal target for them to move to, so if they did their movement right they can make it where you can't declare KC, I do see this being ruled that you can't change it for RS and stuff, as i stated in the rules forums i brought it up for clarification for when the rule comes out so its clear and no arguments like were having now about it.

Yeah, the only problem I had was what if there were no walls/terrain/objects to target?

I don't think it would work that way. Even if you declare KC, its still legal to attempt to base the figure.
