Walked in and the gf was about 20 minutes into watching The Black Death, so I sat down and started watching. The sight of Sean Bean had me interested.
Verdict: excellent film. Completely lacking in any Hollywood gloss or pretension, which only works to its benefit. Sean Bean was, as expected, completely awesome.
Make no mistake though, this film is as grim and dark as the title. But for those who just want to see an incredibly well-done medieval film with great performances throughout, and an intelligent story that stays with you long after the credits, it's well worth the time spent viewing it.
I wondered why I hadn't heard of such a great film, and looked it up to see it was released in Ireland/UK. Then after some thought, realized that a film like this would have only flopped at the North American box office, while ironically standing many levels above record-selling dreck like Avatar. The thought of that was almost more tragic than the plot. Why is it that the North American general public is so averse to anything that actually has any intelligence behind it?

Watched Pan's Labyrinth tonight. Not sure if that was a good idea at this point. Overall it was a very good looking movie... but the story was... I'm not sure. Interesting, certainly. Some really Tarsem-esque visuals in a couple points.
And since I'm mentioning Tarsem, if you haven't seen "The Fall" on blu-ray, do yourself that favor if you can. The story has enough complexity to support the paintings that are put to film. Just so good looking.

(The Brain) Yeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssss, Jackstar!
Years ago I tried to get you and Cuitla to watch that. Years. Such a wonderfully shot movie (albeit slightly depressing).
Watched Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Went into it expecting I wouldn't like it (Not a Michael Cera fan outside of Arrested....)
I was wrong. What a wonderfully planned movie. Great visuals, good acting, and great pop-culture references. I loved it. Will go and buy it now as I'm sure I will re-watch it from time to time.
I watched Due Date last night. It really picked up for me at the point when the story makes it clear ethan and Peter won't split up (for various reasons). I think Ethan's unintentional obnoxiousness was toned down a bit, which helped. It's not as good as "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles", but it's still pretty good.

NEGA SCOTT!
Huh. I liked the comic a lot but I was really ambivalent to the movie. I didn't think the story translated well at all. The visual effects and sound design and most of the casting were good, but it was kind of boring to watch. At least I thought so. Glad you liked it.

Movie Theater -
The 3 Musketeers - I am a big fan of the Musketeers, and this movie did not fail in the sword fighting and the action. It was weird to see them flying around in a big air combatship. But over all for me it was just a plain fun movie. And yeah I will get the dvd of this to add to my Musketeer dvd collection.
Via Netflix over the past few days -
Paranormal Activity 1 and 2....boring. The first one had some nice subtle effects. But over all just...ehh.
Blue Brothers....nothing wrong here of course.
Ironclad...I enjoyed this movie. Kinda fun. But to me any movie with a sword is going to be alright...except these other rumored Highlander movies that supposedly were made after the first Highlander movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1233301/
Thats about it for now.
And still I am waiting for a new Desaad figure.....where is the Desaad love?

Three Musketeer's movies always bug me. They're always getting into swordfights. I've never once seen a movie where a Musketeer actually fired a musket, held a musket, or carried one around with him on his horse.
Finally saw X-Men: First Class. Reasonably fun movie. My only real gripe is the way they depicted Havoc, who I guess would have to be Cyclops's dad now? But his power manifesting the way it did just didn't work for me and his attitude was too jerky for me.
Not sure what they'll do next... but it was okay. Kinda glad I didn't explicitly pay for it though (netflix).

I believe they did in "The Man in the Iron Mask" with Leonardo DiCaprio.

X-Men: First Class was packaged as a prequel to the previous films, but it's really not. They did it that way to ease the audience into their new retro X-Men storyline. The ages of the adult characters don't even come close to matching up. There's also the Cerebro scene where Charles saw Jean, Scott and Ororo as children. If those three are eight or ten years old in 1962, that would put them around fifty years old for the events of the first X-Men film. With Magneto and Xavier in their early thirties in 1962, that would put them in their seventies for X-Men.

Charles could had been seeing of what Jean and the others could become? or maybe were not them?
and Xavier and Magneto could be 70's in the X-Men movies.
In any case about Ages the thing that I liked most about First class is that 30's Magneto get tunging tunging with teenager BLONDE Mystique! :knockedou *

* The Bad thing is that I was watching it with my girlfriend and she say "that is wrong" and I HAD to say in front of her "yea, very wrong" right away to protect my life.
