So I've said my Negativity about this set, so lets go to the positives:
Phantom Zone criminals and Kryptonian Solider/Infiltrators! So awesome
Reign of Superman characters, I must have!
Lobo (wish he had higher range and still on his bike), kicks the pants off of Wolverine, if you don't do 4 damage to him in a single turn you've wasted your time.
Supergirl (I'd like to see her card make sure there's no trait, but a solid figure none the less, and normal universe outfit no less!)
Parasite (Finally a good one!),
Livewire (more villians always nice)
Silver Banshee (ditto)
Intergang and Bruno (Looking forward to seeing those dials)
Matter Eater lad (no longer a bystander)
Brainiac 5 (needed reclicking like plants need water)
Maxwell Lord (ya there are 2 for some reason, but checkmate definitely need 1)
Imperiex (thought he'd be bigger like a Sentinel, but never the less a never before clicked bad guy!)
Overall it's a nice list, just wish it was longer with a few more key players from the normal universe.
Oh and last but not less there is Hope (not the character)
If they make Commander El yes his uniform will be different (Easily replaceable with an old Icon's Supes or the Superman from the World's Finest, take your pic), but it will be a normal universe Superman, and hopefully will have the keywords to go with it.
Well in all honesty, I don't mind most of the inclusions. Though I do think there was alot skipped that really should have been in the set. I am wondering why they didn't just make it a 60 figure set like most of the others. Six extra slots could have hit most of the missed figures rather easily. I'm wondering why the set sizes are getting smaller myself. If they get to much smaller, I'm going to start buying less, because I don't need to buy as much, and not because of issues with who and what is in the set.
Generally though I'm not as happy with the last couple real DC sets. 75th really didn't touch the history of the DCU like I was expecting. Brave and the Bold had alot of meh figures.
This set has some scary power pieces. Game play is going to be changed alot with this set I think. Back to the icons through origins era of play style at least. When hypersonic was king.

Yeah, I get that sort of twitchy feeling, too. And so far we have 1 definite HSS counter, and a couple maybes like Earth Man and Leech, who have limitations in either range or targets.
Wow, after seeing that crap-tacular list, including the total denial of a new Krypto or a DCU Superman, it makes me incredibly glad I gave up buying 'clix after GSX. What a mess!
Really suprised there hasn't been either a "Death of Superman" or "Superman: Red Son" fig. Granted the dynamics of a "Death of" fig would be hard but still. If Wizkids can make uninspired trash like "Floronic Man" it just begs the question...What were/weren't you thinking!
This is but a fraction of my subliminal obnoxiousness.
I agree to both of you regarding the disappointment stuffs on this set. I myself have waited for a long time for a superman set and this is all we've got from a character who has been in comics since WW2. With tons of superman villains he encountered, these are the only ones they gave us. Truly a shame. They even used up slots for the same character rather placing a different character on them, a character more related to supes, maybe like KRYPTO or MON EL!
With this I believe that The Hulk Set would be much better because all of them at Wizkids are Marvel fanatics, THEREFORE THEY GIVE MORE PRIORITY TO MARVEL CHARACTERS THAN DC CHARACTERS!!!.
there's lots of wants for me in this set. i'm mostly excited about the LoSH (M-E Lad!), mercy, max lord (though only 1 jli version would have been much prefered) and Manhunter Grandmaster

i anticipate a dark knight rises fast forces and an avengers fast forces next summer to coincide with their respective films

we have 5 cosmic boys, 5 saturn girls and 5 lightning lads
i think it's okay if we move on and make some of the unclicked ones
though i admit i'm surprised that mon-el didn't get remade in this set, given the themes

i'd be happy too. though i'd prefer they just buckle down and make it a subtheme in a set so we could get the remainders, that's not likely to happen anytime soon as next year's set will have a metric butt-ton of wildstorm characters and will have to make yet another version of all the main players but in flashy DCnU format

especially since the last one was also not bruce wayne. despite my earlier complaint about slots that will be taken up by yet-another-version-of the primetime players, we havent had an attainable post-crisis bruce wayne since the AE in BatB, and he sucks.

it's so they can make room for fast forces and gf feeds. just look at hulk, it's totally hulked out

Bear in mind that this reply is coming from a DC fan who could give less than a flying hootinanny about most Marvel characters. The reason we get so many remakes and "event sub-themes" in DC compared to Marvel is because DC/Warner has a much tighter hold on what their willing to approve for licensed marketing than Marvel is. DC has nixed so many figures from getting made, and tells WK to focus on the big guns, over and over and over. In contrast, Marvel is much more willing to take a chance with the random stuff and gives WizKids much more freedom with the character selection.

It seems much more likely that Superman Beyond will be the "unique" LE figure. No way would they put a chase figure in such a prominent spot on the booster and in the solicitation posters.
I will also lament with many other posters... WHY no Cyborg?!?! In all the advertisements of The New 52 and Flashpoint the DCU editors were working hard to push to make him a first tier character. This is one serious omission!
Now that I think about it... I think I would have rather gone without the Legion characters in this set. This is so that there could be more 'core' characters to superman released. I still agree with the laments about Flashpoint Cyborg. I want more Superman Villains; IE Atomic Skull and others.
I am really excited for the LSH represented, but I am disappointed in the overuse of the same sculpts that should have been LE's- Mercy and Hope, Max Lord, Starboy/man, Magog, Mannheim/underboss. One or two would have been ok, but this is too much for a short (54 figures not chase) set.
And I read the bio on Manchester Black, and that character could have gone forever without being made. Those 6 slots would have given room for Atomic Skull, a powered Jimmy Olsen, Titano, Pulsar Stargrave, and a New God or 2.
