Apparently he really is trippin'. I'm not surprised he got us confused as he doesn't actually read any other posts before launching into one of his lectures.
Not only did he inexplicably confuse me with Vlad, he's so lost up in his ivory tower at this point that he doesn't even really understand the opposing argument.
My issue with resources is not about comic accuracy, it's their inherent unbalance because of their point cost. (WoS Nightcrawler had the exact same problem.). For the record, I never said ban resources. I actually like the concept, I just think the point costs need to be significantly adjusted for what they do.
As for the "talk to your local judge" broken record - I already agreed with that. Multiple times, actually.
I'm sure I'll get flak for this too - or at least Vlad will....
Oh no he didn't. (snaps fingers) UNLEASH THE KRAKEN¡!! Lol.
Here's the thing though, I want to be able to enjoy both sides. I want to play a comic accurate team because that is what seems to be the most fun team to play as. With this team I have made I want it to be competitive as well. While I can stand a chance against a H4H team, if I am going up against somebody using a resource, my odds are lessened. If I were to attend a top tier tournament I'd want my unique comic accurate team to stand a chance. However when everybody is using a resource or a set of characters because they understand it's broken, then I will have no chance. I've noticed when playing against people using the book, and split lip, I lose, no matter what. Most of their attack roles will have to be a 1-5 in order to hit. I do not see how Wizkids can look at something like this and not consider banning it. The belt and gauntlet are only slightly better balanced than this, because there's a chance factor, but at the same time someone using a resource will always have a better chance than somebody not using one. The characters I don't have as big a problem with, because people like Ghost Rider, Brother Voodoo, and Scarlet Witch are incredibly squishy.
Then play your comic accurate team. But don't expect to win very often. This game isn't balanced, and NEVER will be. I personally don't particularly like Resources as much as the next guy, but I do my best to not complain about them. Your 'fun' is not my problem, all due respect. I reserve the right to play whatever team I feel like, so long as they're legal for the tourney that day. I try to have fun with whatever team i use/face. And you should too.

The bottom line here, again, forever and ever world without end, amen, is that some people will play the best they can every day, and some people will play for fun.

Yep, these.
Here, let's put the kibosh on alladis:
1. If you have a strong opinion on this subject, it likely isn't changing.
2. People who feel the need to call other people stupid in the course of what should be a civil conversation add nothing to the proceedings.
3. This argument is useless. That one guy who can't bring himself to NOT play without using the top 1- 20 figures/elements in the dominant meta probably won't stop playing that way. Ditto the dude who wants to play Serpent Society from Avengers #whatever.
4. If these various groups hope to coexist within a thriving venue, then the onus is on the players to suggest alternatives and on the judge to implement them from time to time. Period.
And if someone gets bent out of shape that they can't use Resources every week, or that they can't play the GLA week after week without getting stomped, that's on them.

Works for me.

Is it bad that the bolded word took me close to a minute to figure out?

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I think resources are good if only for the fact that they make figures that would otherwise never see the field viable. Does it get frustrating to see Batman's Utility Belt on a Marvel character? Yes. But if it makes it so that they can play a figure that would not otherwise get used and in a new way and make it competitive, I have to give that two thumbs up. Just my 2 cents.

100% agree with this. A balance must be found Grasshopper...

As good a summation as Thrumble provided, I predict we'll be visiting this topic again by the end of the month.
Meta vs casual is our Groundhog Day.
Convention season is when it really gets ####ing insufferable, IMO. Constant reviewing of strategy + folks trolling for net-deck-ready ideas + "go big or go home brah" crap = Yeah, I'ma take a Realms break.

Exactly. And none of the people in either group--or the million varied benchmarks between those extremes--are wrong.
I agree, none of these people are wrong, in either groups.
But i believe thay CAN'T play together and be happy.
In my experience, to have fun, they mostly have to play separately.

I agree. What i also say is that, having the point cost being adjusted would make casual players happier, without spoiling competitive players from their fun. Why ? Because THEY ALWAYS find some uber-meta-comboes whatever the pieces will be. So having a more balanced game will just make finding the uber-meta-combo harder and thus more fun ! While it will at the same time render the casual play easier and more fun. Everybody wins ! Please wizkids, do it !
Um...that's NOT the biggest complaint about resources. The biggest complaint is that they're hideously overpowered for the points compared to anything else in the game. That's something that's evident whether one reads comics or not.
Please Vlad stop saying things i totally agree with.
Because here i totally agree with you.
Again ! It's the second or third time in like... less than a week...
It's beginning to frighten me now...
LOL
