2x Threatening Roard and 2x Marionette Mite seems to do the trick for me in that regard. Though with the price of Il Blud, I don't expect to face many good zombie decks. Basically the trick is to hold off a turn, let them swarm but avoid damage, then just swarm back and grab their biggest monster to join in the fun ...
Just be careful to side out at least one reasoning, as it sucks when you peel a mite off the deck.
Funny story, tonight I sided out swords for a double summon, and I'm actually liking it. I'm putting it in the side to see how it holds up against real competition this sunday. I'm still worried it'll cause me to overextend even further, but much like my demise, that seems to be doing better now, the fact that they can't get rid of monsters so easily means I can probably afford it more. I'm maindecking decrees on sunday as well, taking the risk of going faster, dumping the mask of restricts in the side.
I'll let you know how it goes.I'll be updating my win-loss counter in the sig as well, at least for as long as UDE doesn't update the ratings.
I still haven't given up on Double Summon yet. I've still only played a handful of games with it so far, but it's been a decent weapon when I can't find Grandmaster or Reasoning. Somehow I only have one copy of it so far, though I probably would never play more than one copy in a Samurai deck, there are other decks I'd like to experiment with it in.
I've been using Raiza instead of Il Blud in my Zombie Deck and I actually think it's been working better without the Il Bluds. I think there's a lot of potential there with Instant Fusion/Reaper on the Nightmare/Book of Life for this deck to take off with a few Raiza's packed in for removal. But that's another topic for another day.

Well I wanted to use it today, but I don't own any, and the guy that was going to let me borrow one of his didn't show up. There was one game where I thought it would have been better (a horus matchup), but in two other games I was glad I had the SORL I was going to side out for it. So I'm still on the fence. 4 wins and 1 loss today in a fairly star-studded tournament says I have a one-up in this format being able to play with a deck I already know inside out while everyone else is still feeling things out. My side is fairly solid now as well, I'm just not sure what to do about Kinetic Soldiers. I have Summer cup finals in two weeks, and I can already guarantee I'll see some sided kinetic soldiers thrown at me. So far best sides against me included Vortex and stuff like that, but I side MBaaS for that.
I can't tell you how much the switch of brain to soul exchange has helped this deck. The slower pace, the extra monster you get to keep because they lose their attack, it all culminates in easier ways to mount a comeback.

You may be right. Little less OTK potential, but an extremely well-comprised control engine. The sole problem I see with going this route is that you'll eventually end up running into banishers as the game drags on.
I may give that a shot if I can score another two zombie masters. Can you PM me a rough decklist ?
I know you don't, before you know they'll come over and massively win every SJC :p I'm not kidding either. Apparently Guy did so well he picked himself up a sponsor stateside, and now several other top players are planning trips to SJC's as well to try and do the same ... :p
I respond to you because its fun watching you squirm. Like I told Wraith, its like shooting ducks in a barrel. ANd your conclusions remain equally erroneous. My research is going extremely well and THAT is the reason I have time to come #### around with you.
But I can't say I'm surprised at your response. You're a weasel, you can't expect a weasel to act like anything else than a weasel.
You know, I'm new to this site and I was hoping that I could come on here and learn more about building my deck, which happens to be six samurai, which I thought was the point of this thread. But after taking the time to read all 100+ posts on the subject, I've seen nothing but a pointless argument. I felt I had to say something because for people like me, this is nothing more than distracting and bothersome. I wish I could say there was at least one person here that was the bigger man, but I'm afraid that is false, as everyone here either does nothing to stop the argument, or pick sides like school children on the playground.
You of all people dissapoint me, upset me, and disgust me the most. Who on earth do you think you are? The only thing I've seen from you are arrogant posts about your "skills" and lifestyle and how you think your better than everybody on here. If your supposed to be this upstanding top ranking player, then such things like this should be beneathe you. You more or less began this argument with your snotty arrogant attitude and then try to berate him because he stands up to you. If that doesn't mark the signs of a coward, I don't know what does. I wish I could say something about the other guy, but your ugly remarks about suicide more or less cemented everything about you that the 100+ post alread established. This argument would be over if you're sopposed to be as top notch as you say you are, cause you wouldn't be in the same wrong as plauge.
In the meantime, I'll be looking for six samurai info elsewhere. I obviously can't find it here amongst this trash.
You have one post. You probably ARE plauge trying to save his scrawny behind from looking like a complete ###.
Excuse me!!!! Just because you resort to trickery like that doesn't mean everyone does. Like I said I'm a new member. doesn't mean I haven't been on here reading from the outside.
I was going to wait to do this and see if common sense will kick in for you, but I'm making sure I'm heard in a complaint against you. Suicide is nothing to joke about and in only shows how little of a man you are. You shouldn't be worried about how many posts you have and instead be worried about how much of Jerk you look like in these forums.
I'm hoping that my Mask of Restricts will be in the mail today. I also hope that I remembered to take my decks home so I can finally do some more testing tonight.
I plan on doing a lot of work on my Side Deck. I'm most likely going to try out the Mites and see if they are a good fit to deal with Zombies. Off the top of my head I'd say I'd at least side out Mask of Restrict in that match up, probably one Reasoning too.
I feel like my creativity on this deck is stalling right now, I think I've been too close to it for too long.
Have you thought about trying good goblin house keeping yet or mabey solemns in place of the masks?
I'm pretty sure I had Solemn Judgment in my side deck at some point. It's generally something that sticks in my side deck till I find something more specialized to take it out for. I'll have to reconsider that since I'm looking at using it for my Volcanic Deck, which reminds me I need to work on that deck more it's tons of fun.
I want to try Good Goblin Housekeeping, but I'm not sure in what deck yet. My gut feeling is that my Crystal Beast deck would be the best fit for it, but maybe there is another good use for it somewhere. I'm just afraid that GGHK will be to slow for this deck.

I fail to see, at least maindecked, what SJ will do that cheaper cards like MBAAS can't do. Especially in this format, there is very little that can wreck your field. GGH I have so far only found two uses for : Exodia in chains, and my clocktower deck.
I've been thinking about Card Destruction or Card Trader for this deck but I'm not sure how good of a fit either would be. I'm in a huge rut with this deck right now, I think it needs more removal badly.

Card D sucks when you have no hand 90% of the time, and card trader seems too slow for this deck. I tried the double summon this weekend, went 3-3, which is positively dysmal if you know I went 4-1 against much better players the week before. Every time I kept wishing i had the SORL I took out for it instead of the double summon.
I'm a little torn between wether I need more removal or an extra stall card to replenish my hand. In any case, monarchs and especially raiza all over the place, whether its in full blown monarch decks or basically anything else, so I'll probably main mask of restrict over Decree again, put SORL back in for double summon, and take fissure out for a hammer shot. I'm still doubting as to whether I'd take out shrink for a second hammer shot as well ...
Other than that it seems to be doing well. More monarchs than I anticipated (and I was one of the few who predicted this would be a monarch meta) but other than that the deck has a nice flow to it. Can't wait for GLAS though ...
I have Summer Cup Finals this Sunday. I'll be going up against 11 of the best this country has to offer, including the current national champion. It seems like a bad time to experiment, but i don't think I have a shot at winning if I take the deck as is. I have a few other great decks, but zero experience with them, and I've been playing long enough to know you don't take a deck to a tournament if you've never played it before. So I could use some opinions on my experimental line-up :
Quote
20
2 Great Shogun Shien
2 Cyber Dragon
3 Grandmaster of the Six Samurai
3 Zanji
3 Irou
1 Nisashi
3 Yaichi
1 Kamon
1 Card Trooper
1 Morphing Jar
15
2 Reasoning
2 Warrior Returning Alive
2 Reinforcement of the Army
2 Hammer Shot / Shrink
1 premature Burial
1 heavy Storm
1 Giant Trunade
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Smashing Ground
1 Swords of Revealing Light
1 Double Summon / Scapegoat / reasoning
5
1 Mirror Force
1 Call of the Haunted
1 Ceasefire
2 Mask of restrict / Royal Decree
I made one hard change so far, that is taking out one cyber dragon for a third zanji. Zanji is a beater and he is monster removal. But most of all I'm just sick of opening with multiple cydra or peeling cydra off of Reasoning when I need a samurai. But I could use some input on the soft changes :
1.the trap line-up : With more and more monarchs popping up I was doubting whether it was smart to hold on to decree, or whether I should main Mask again like last format. While I enjoy the enabling effect of decree, I seem to always draw two when I need to draw monsters, and then with breaker back and a lot of dust tornado in the game, I don't seem to be getting the mileage out of my decree's that I like. But then I got to thinking, won't mask suffer the same fate ? So then I though Bottomless might be a nice fit. Lose the summon, lose the beater, not much of a backrow to lose for me, I can afford to get spun if they can't attack my monsters etc.
2.Double summon. I definitely put back swords, given the amount of time I wished I had it over the double summon I sided out for it. The promise of an early double summon is extremely appealing, but at the same time it only came through for me once, and its an awful late game draw. Keep it ? Or instead take my chances with the third reasoning again (with the cydra to zanji switch, which is both a positive and a negative for reasoning) or even scapegoat ? Goats would be the opposite, awful early game, but excellent in the late game.
3.Hammer shot vs Shrink. I like shrink best because its offensive and defensive, but its been suffering a lot at the hands of a lot of pro-active removal I've been seeing lately. Hammer shot can easily fill in for the lost smashings, but could be a dead draw if I have a shogun on the field.
Its been an interesting back and forth the last few weeks, so i'm curious as to your input. Or anyone else's (except plauge) for that matter.
1. Well if you like the Monarch stopping power of Mask of Restrict and the removal aspect of Bottomless Trap Hole, then why not try out Pulling the Rug in the main deck? It'll also help to counter Breaker the Magical Warrior, though he's not a huge threat to this deck. Zombies are the huge threat around here right now, Monarchs aren't seen nearly as much play as I would have originally thought, so my Mask of Restricts might be headed to my side deck anyway.
2. Personally I'd like to see the third Reasoning here. You need to swarm, so having more access to Reasoning isn't bad. I don't think I've ever run into a time when Reasoning is a dead draw, the only thing it does if you misfire on it is give you more targets for the Warrior Returning Alive, Premature Burial and Call of the Haunted. Either way you're helping out your toolbox.
3. I really like Shrink with Nisashi. On the other hand it require your opponent to have a monster on the field and you to have a monster on the field to attack with. 9 times out of 10 your opponent is going to know what is up if you drop a small monster and attack into their Cyber Dragon/Monarch. Hammer Shot on the other hand can be played when you are trying to stay alive and need to clear a monster out of the way. It lets you swing for more damage. I'm going to start playing around with Hammer Shot this week, probably 2, to make up for the loss of 2 Smashing Grounds. Unfortunately I have no hard data to go on right now.
torrential tribute is a no-no in this deck. especially one meant for swarming. i suggest u take it out and add Dark magician of Chaos since ur using reasoning.
I disagree. This deck wins by swarming the field in one turn. It likes to have a clear field or a face down monster for Irou to take out. Torrential Tribute allows you to clear the field on your opponent's turn, hopefully with Card Trooper on your side of the field, and then swing away on your turn with Cyber Dragon, Zanji, Grandmaster, and Great Shogun. Especially with the loss of two Smashing Grounds, this deck needs more ways to get monsters off of the field. That's part of why I'm starting to evaluate Hammer Shot as extra monster removal. Torrential Tribute has been a vital part of this deck for the 8 months that I've been running it.
