US$80 for boxes? dang... my store should be around C$85-90 - which is around US$60-65...

Yeah... so I only bought 5 packs at $4 a pack for $20.

I wanted to support his store (he's a friend) so I didn't want to haggle. Plus I have a case coming which cost less than $50 a box. Makes the 5 packs I bought really expensive since it put me back the price of almost half a box in my case.

How much will your store sell boosters for?

Packs cost around 2.00 directly from Upper Deck....a little more from other distributors unless you order massive quantities. Most stores try to get a 100% mark up on items. 3.49 - 3.99 per pack is what you can expect to pay. Of course boxes cost less yet if you go that route.

Yeah... he actually tells me his cost. I don't ask for discounts because I know he's trying to pay his bills (which is in keeping with the original intent of this thread). Plus I can always get it cheaper if I NEED it.

All this store talk has me re-thinking my decision to open a store. Part of me really wants to do it because of the fun aspect of dealing with people and kids but the other part is scared of the money aspect because it's very hard to be profitable with that kind of business in my area.

Right now the store is in need of a sprucing up. We're talking about moving, but it's incredible what the nice places are trying to charge for rent. We found one spot with vaulted ceilings and an open 2nd floor for gaming, but they want $11.000 a month. Um . . NO!

And trust me, having a woman in your store is great, especially if she is outgoing, talkative, interested in customers, and actually reads and knows about comics and gaming. It took some of the guys a month or so to actually talk to me (since girls have cooties), but now everyone knows me and knows that I'm not mean or dumb. :D Yay for girls!

We just got them in about an hour ago. I went into work for an hour to watch the store while the owner drove down to our supplier. Now I have to wait for Praxismmii to get home so that we can open our boosters.

The boosters were a touch more expensive than I expected - about C$95 per box (US$68-70). -grin- I bought four and put one aside;)
