Liberal Party of Canada? I only ask because we just had an election this week, and the Liberals got absolutely slaughtered. I'm talking steamrolled. They had 77 seats in the Conservative minority before and after calling for a new election, they ended up with 34 and are no longer the opposition, which is now the NDP. This is the first time this has ever happened and is considered a huge embarrassment for the Liberals. Dunno how much longer Michael Ignatieff is gonna be at their helm for.

Pretty much as soon as someone starts trying to sing a heavy-handed sermon - dropping G--, J----, The Kingdom, etc. - I'm going to be heading for the exit; I find such things to be very off-putting. Fortunately, neither of these songs go that way, and instead allow the listener to take such meaning from it as fits his view. I'd even hit one site where people are trying to ascribe specific meanings to songs, and was pleased to see that "Stars" (the one I looked at there) took people in various directions. When the person is religiously inclined he immediately takes it in that direction, but then again, people swear to revelatory images in tortillas, too.
God damn it, I was playing Kingdom Hearts and my stupid PS2 froze. Jesus, I forgot to save too, this really makes me mad.
Ok now get outta here, you.
And before you accuse me of being religiously intolerant, I'm Catholic.

I have very little to add tonight, other than I know little of Ashley Greene. But I do know that this is my favorite picture of her. (content not intended for all viewers)
I sometimes wonder how neurotic I'd be about young women if I'd had daughters. As it is, so many of them look to terribly young. She's actually (at least in some of these photo shoots) a mature-looking (no lasciviousness intended) 24; still, I'm too aware that that's less than half my age. Besides, even a year on I still reflexively think of myself as being married; I was very comfortably without any such options for roughly thirty years, and can't say I ever found myself seriously tempted. I'm self-repressed, I guess.

Ah! Cool. I'm looking forward to them.
Between these and the upcoming HCR shirts I really am getting more interested in going to Wizard's Philly con in mid-June. I haven't absolutely made up my mind yet, but my buddy Eric at work asked me again this week if I'd been considering it, and it's been something of a tradition for us to hit the con since... '04? Maybe '03. I just wish it really were more of a comics convention and less of the celebrity pay-per-meet event it's become.
I know there won't be any official Wizkids presence, but I will be interested to see how much unofficial Heroclix presence is being planned as we get closer.

Yeah, I caught just enough of that to feel very sad for many people I know up there. They'd hoped that the darkness they'd seen devouring their society was about to be turned back and dispelled, but it went horribly the other way. (I probably should leave it at that, given the forum.)

LOL! I was born into and raised that way, too, going to those schools through high school. Oh, yeah.
Again, though, as entertaining a subject as that can be I don't want to see the thread raided, padlocked and deleted.

Wait, I was under the impression that we could discuss facts, but not political opinions?
For example, the Conservatives have a majority government and the NDP is the opposition. That's a fact, what's controversial about it? Now if I were to state my political views on a subject and criticize someone, ok, that goes in the politics forum. However, just discussing the results shouldn't be bad.
Same goes for discussing a Catholic upbringing. We're not talking Catechism or arguing why Islam isn't as good or better than Christianity, we're simply stating that we were raised in a Catholic household and attended Catholic elementary and high school (which I did as well, uniform and everything). Statement of fact, there. I think the political forum is more for opinions than facts.

Today is one of those days where I really just don't know what to post
Most of the time that's the case for me, so it's usually a case of either just lurking or typing something that's crossed my mind recently. There are many things I likely should be doing now, the least being sleeping, but I've another headache and I'm restless.
So... has anyone firmed up plans to see Thor? I'm closer to plans for it than before.
No.1 son and I may end up doing that Saturday afternoon as part of a day out, including dropping a gift off one day early at my in-laws for Mother's Day.
The loose plan is to head back to the old area, so I can visit a few of the comics shops for FCBD, we can have lunch before or an early dinner after the movie, then swing by the in-laws briefly before heading back toward home.
Again, though, as entertaining a subject as that can be I don't want to see the thread raided, padlocked and deleted.
Well, yes, there's that and then there's this: the more you two keep going on the subject, the more I'm reminded, for some reason, of that Seinfeld episode "The Burning"....(and not the part about the tractor story, either).
But then, what-- me worry? I'm not the one going to...
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
Thor a buddy of mine that I went and saw Fast Five with on Saturday wanted to get a group together to go see it, including the female he has been dating. Weird thing about the female he has been dating, he showed me a picture of her from his phone and I have recently saw that picture on ads on facebook for some online dating site :-/ he said he met her at a speed dating thing.
Also no reply from the Munchkin people...not sure how long I wait till I assume they aren't interested in me or found someone else and just aren't ballsy enough to let me know about it.
I agree KOB, but I know I won't go far on either topic without expressing an opinion on them -- I didn't even manage it in the earlier post. The value judgments come very quickly to mind for me on these topics. (Well, not concerning the relative merits of Christianity, Catholicism - which many Christians I've met are quick to say is not to be confused with Catholicism, and Islam, as I have roughly the same regard for all three.) So, you're likely safe with them, but I'd quickly take it in the direction of a violation. I know myself well enough to know that.

I'll consider the subjects not only closed, but never really opened.
Instead, let's wait for someone to be bothered by Wade's referencing a girl/woman as a female again. It shouldn't take long...
Switchfoot is my alltime favorite band. I have seen them in concert 4 times, the most recent of which I got a song dedicated to me because I had a lighter animation on my cell phone.
I love them because they are musically original and extremely talented (it is hard to find bands today with both), they have very inspiring and creative lyrics (they are very anti-materialistic, and they are religious without being offputting), and the more I learn about them as people, the more I respect them as people.
That's why I love bands like Skillet and Flyleaf. I'm not ashamed of my faith but I don't throw it all out in the faces of those who don't believe. Christian bands try to put out music that's inspiring without shoving Jesus down your throat.

Threads are threads, man. I don't know that one is any better than the other.
I agree. I would consider myself one of the "Fathers" of the Ogre Slap thread, and even though I am biased to this thread, I wouldn't dare say that we were BETTER than anybody else. Of course, I wouldn't say that anybody was any better than US either. We have our own spots on the realms and quite a few of our numbers cross over from this thread to that one. I respect them and I hope they respect us.
