Thats just CRAZY talk. No Superman!!!

Ok friends, so apparently at the end of the month, during the Toronto Fan Expo (Canada's GenCon), there will be 2 tournaments. One will be 500 points modern age, the other 600 modern age. I'm wondering if anyone here has any suggestions on teams to play. Over the next 2 weeks I'll post teams I've come up with and whatnot. I'm designing these teams to try and take on all possible threats. So that means anything NC, Cosmic Spidey, etc busting teams are a good idea. However, I would much prefer them to be keyword theme (either type works).

Ideas?

I don't know if Cosmic Spidey can be beat at that level of play.

Everything can be beaten at every level of play. That's one of the things that makes clix great.

Cosmic Spidey's keywords really limit him. Of course, someone could just forgo them, but he's over half your team. What would you even put with him?

Also, I will not compromise myself and use stupidly cheesy pieces. No ZenHattan, no Cosmic, no NC. Maybe Bullseye, we'll see. Sorry but I want to be competitive, but have fun.

That's part of the problem. I LOVE the cosmic spidey storyline in the comics. I waited YEAAAAAARS for them to make him in clix form. Now if I want to play him I get groaned at for fielding him. I hate that.

Are FCBD figures tournament legal?

Personally, I refuse to limit myself by saying I'll never use a figure like Nightcrawler just because he's considered cheesy. If he fits on a team I'm trying to put together and I want to use him, why shouldn't I play him?

I know at least Iron Man on are. I don't know about Batman and Wolverine.

Fair enough. For me, I honestly don't want to use those kinda pieces because it takes a lot of the strategy out of the game, I find. Especially Cosmic Spidey. NC is kinda guilty about that as well. Most games just end up being a killbox strategy, or classic HSS harassment. I play the game to challenge myself as well as my opponent, and playing a team that is that point and click (again, to me) isn't very interesting.

I told my friend about the tournament, and he said he's gonna be playing to win. That means I can be expecting at least one Cosmic Spidey, Metron or ZenHattan to face against.

If Anti-Monitor wasn't from Crisis, I'd say to run him or Starro for the 600.

I'm not even playing right now and I really want to pick up some of them. Luckily, most of what I want shouldn't be too expensive. I'm holding onto a Smokeyfoot Cap so that I can try to trade for some of the rares and UCs and Commons that I want.

Very well said. I'd like to think I'm one of those players that can play either style. If it's cut-throat, I can play that style and have fun. If it's laid back, I can play that style and have fun as well.
