Back of the Monster Manual. There's a whole bunch more races for players to use.

Including the Gnome, Orc, and a whole bunch of other cool stuff.

They made them all without level adjustments, and they all have a Power as well.

They seem really well balanced, to me at least.

Some of the stuff I mention is a power, not an automatic ability. I didn't specify.

I will say that some of these ARE stuff that's probably not meant for a player character, and more for an NPC. So I'd definitely ask permission before using one. The Bugbear, Doppelganger, and Minotaur, for example, seem like stuff you wouldn't want your players using.

BugBear - Strength+Dexterity, can use oversized weapons
Doppelganger - Intelligence+Charisma, shapeshifts
Drow- Dexterity+Charisma, darkness powers
Githyanki- Con+Int, TK leap
Githzeri- Dex+Wis, Iron Mind
Gnoll - Con+Dex, gets 7 square movement, and increases damage with charges and being bloodied
Gnome - Int+Cha, turns invisible when he gets hit
Goblin - Dex+Cha, shifts when people miss him
Hobgoblin - Con+Cha, gets an extra saving throw as an immediate reaction
Kobold - Con+Dex, Gets to shift 1 square AT WILL
Minotaur - Str+Con, uses oversized weapons, goring charge
Orc - Str+Con, low-light vision, adds 2 to his speed while charging, gets to spend a healing surge while attacking
Shadar-Kai - Dex+Int, Shadow Jaunt
Shifter-Longtooth - Str+Wis, regenerates when bloodied
Shifter-Razorclaw - Dex+Wis, speed+AC+Reflex increases when bloodied
Warforged - Str+Con, lots of minor bonuses, gain temporary hit points once per encounter

In other news, I need to know if you guys are definitely up for Ventrilo or not. I can get the server set up today, and then get the players all of the info they'll need, so they can test it over the weekend, get their mics and speakers set up, etc.

Also, if you use a firewall, router, or both, you're going to need to open port 51234 on your firewall in order to make MapTool work. If you need any help with this, please send me a PM. I have various ways of helping you with this.

For testing, send me, Stepp, or Tanis a PM. Any of the three of us should be able to facilitate a test for you, by starting up the server, and having you connect. I think I'll probably have the most free time for this, however. Stepp and Tanis have kids.

There's also some nifty stuff we were toying around with last night, that I recommend you spend at least 5-10 minutes with one of us to learn. Such as impersonating your character, so your token appears next to your name, owning your token, etc.

All in all, I found that this is much less buggy than OpenRPG. It doesn't have all the awesome tools OpenRPG has, but there's other tools you can download from RPTools if you need them. Besides, all we want is a friggin' map.

I could get a server for 20 people, for 5 bucks a month.

5 bucks a month is nothing for me. That would allow me to make several rooms on the server, so that we could serve 4 or 5 games at a time, if necessary.

That way I'd be able to help out Stepp's game, and everyone else's games that they're trying to get off the ground, here.

I could make all the GM's admins for their particular rooms.

This way, we're not looking at 4 or 5 different Vent servers. If you switch games, it won't be a complete pain in the ###.

I don't suppose someone could consolidate all the links to one source (maybe the first page of this thread?) That way I don't have to thread dive for them. Thx!

In other news, if I don't play a Dragonborn Paladin, I'll shoot for an 18-20 dex Halfling Rogue and take skill bonus (Theivery) as my L1 feat. No lock shall evade me! mua ha ha!

Okay, now that I've read about healing surges, I see why the Cleric is easily replaced by the Warlord. Half of my exploits cause an ally to use a healing surge, while I'm attacking someone for twice my weapon damage, and giving my allies random bonuses to their attacks and defenses. I also see how you can get by without certain classes.

And I've read more on the Commander's strike ability. Particularly, on the Wotc forums. Thanks to my feat, and my tactical presence ability, people who I use that on, are going to be really happy with me. In particular, our high-damage Warlock.

Lots of teamwork-oriented stuff in this edition. It's better than racing to see who can one-shot monsters first.

Edit: Looking further, the Commander's strike ability only works so long as I and my ally are within melee range of the target. Not the end of the world, since I could be using it on a buffed Fighter/Rogue/Paladin, and be giving him all SORTS of bonuses, thanks to my Tactical Presence, and supplementary feat. But A little discouraged that I'll be sitting in melee, greatsword in hand, and asking someone else to make another attack instead. "My arm's tired, you hit him."

Got the MapTool and it's quite a bit bigger than Peers' tool.

How do I test this thing?
