Ebay has the best deals. I usually just save the pages with starting bids of $0.99 (watch for the shipping though) and then check back right before the auction ends. It's a great way to get cheap figures if you're lucky.
For me, that figure has been the DC 75th Anniversary White Lantern Flash... I originally pulled him and traded him for the White Lantern Superman and the SR Bane from the same set.... I've never come close to getting him again....

You probably don't want to hear that at one point I had 12 of them in my house then do you?
(I no longer have 11 of them)

HoT Cap is cheese now? Huh...I just thought he was anti-stealth with a bit of a glass jaw.
HoT Cap has been called cheese since he was released, mainly by people for whom anti-stealth=cheese. His attack value is too low to be cheese; he can't reliably hit anything with his 10 or lower.

For that few points, he's easy to support. I went 3-1 at Gencon running a pair of them with Domino and a couple of perplexers. Beat a Metron/Nightcrawler team, as well as one of the top-4 players.

Cap is Cheese.
Eh, I've seen him get taken down WAY too easily to call him cheese, but I can get how/why some might be sick of seeing him.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?
Meh, agree to disagree. Nightcrawler WAY > than HoT Cap IMO.
Oh, Nightcrawler is cheesier by far, and harder to take out. But the fact they these guys can be taken down quickly doesn't make them *not* cheese.
NC is a little more point-and-shoot since his defenses are built-in, but if you play Cap conservatively and win map, he's horribly cheesy. Cap needs to rely on terrain and other pieces for cover. But trust me, I've abused him as a piece more than any other in recent years. In fact, Nightcrawler is the only figure I really have a problem facing with him, since he has two chances of evading the attack and a High D on top of that. And even then, I beat two or the three NC teams I faced at Gencon.
Lulz. NC-WAY? You must have played GW when IWAY was big. Never heard someone use that term.
NC > HoT Cap. That work?

Nah, just the ones that aren't mine.

Sure, by hitting them really hard. And hitting those figures really hard is significantly harder to do (for a litany of reasons) than it is for most other figures in the game.

I get where you're coming from, and I get that a skilled player can keep him safe/attacking/cleaning house.
What I'm saying is that HoT Cap can be pretty easily pinned down (can't push, has to stay a maximum of 13 squares away to get a chance to RS), can be outranged (not as often anymore with reverse range creep [?]), and pretty much just BEGS to be slammed in the face in CC by HSS figures, full move Chargers, etc.
I've seen him used optimally, and I've used him optimally, but I think he's not so much a cheesy figure as he is the perfect type of HC figure: great for beginners (arguably), great team player, very supportable, and a force to be reckoned with in the right hands.

He can push! And with RS and cover, he's not usually outranged.
He will have problems with TK+HSS, and pieces with a very long life, but I haven't particularly had an issue with that.
Still, I see what you mean-- he has more counters than something as obcene as NC. But there is a reason he sells for what he does.

Maybe WAY was a generic use.
Anyway, those figures take 3 damage each to neuter. That is not much to ask. If you are truly unlucky, these figures will have their way with you and show you the door. Worst case scenario.
I will not argue NC>HoT Cap. Because its probably true in the greater sense. But to the say these figures are cheese is merely an opinion. As is anything. It just gets a little old. Soon NC will be retired and everyone can finally relax.

Anything is better with a perplexer or three, that doesn't make the piece being perplexed cheese.
