Traits are non optional now, but that doesn't stop him from being standard sized if he chooses.
THE SIZE I NEED TO BE: At the beginning of your turn, you may choose the Giant damage symbol or the Colossal damage symbol, Stranger possesses that combat symbol until your next turn.
The "may" allows him to not choose if you choose. And, his damage symbol is printed as starburst, so that's what he'll default to.
Adam has to be able to draw line of fire. If he can't do that then he can't outwit.
My issue with Stranger is the ability to be collosial. If not for that I would be ok with him. But he will go for killer money on ebay. No lie. Stranger being a scientist is almost insult to injury. The lines of the meta are becoming clear...
Two man gauntlet team (most common)
Barrier Gauntlet team (common)
Three man gauntlet team(common)
Flash strike Guantlet team(super rare until proven)
Galactus (uncommon)
Of the options I think the most viable is a 2 figure both attacker gauntlet team. You have one break barrier while the other attacks through it. It can handle none barrier teams as well as well as 2 figure with one support figure. A solid 3 figure team is going to be tough but most likely going to be built toward a stall team.
Flash strike major problem right now is filling out the rest of the points to win. I think that is to much work to do in the meta right now. You are giving up map choice so you have to be super flexible and mobile. Right now I don't see it.
Galactus can force a direct fight and looks a lot more viable after the retirement curve. I think a solid team has to be able to solve for galactus.
Ok, what about Adam and Gamora? It's themed and you still have lot of points left. Plus you can charge/base renegades killing them (1 dmg is enough and they loose barrier) or else even Adam can break one square of the barrier and outwit after.

yea that's what im saying. so he can just option it off and on Skrull Yellowjacket style I would think.
or maybe at least option it off. choose one, and if need be option it off. not sure uf turning it back on requires it to be the beginning of your turn.
I don't know why you wouldn't always choose to be one. you can just option it off when needed.

Both earthman and Manchester are still good secondary attackers but both play differently manchester will be able to clear tokens when Magog Ko's a fig which won't be hard or earthman stops hypersonic ,charge ,and running shot on those new beast cosmic characters we will be sure to see ....and I know you might think its weak to barrier on indoor maps but it just means you will be slowed not stopped for more than a turn or two not near long enough for a meaningful spin of the gauntlet . And what do you think some of the combos are going to be for the 2 man teams ? WL flash full gauntlet and e1 come to mind but a little short on points

Flash STrike is using Flashpoint Flash to attack some figure on the map after placement. Hope that makes sense. It is a new phrase in the lexicon introduced by jonidshultz.

Right now I don't know. My tech is a bit off the path right now. I talked with Joeldad last night and he gave me an idea for a solid 4 man team. Right now I'm taking in the new Set. The 3 man Stranger team is way stronger then I thought it would be.
Magog and Black Adam are still on my radar. But some things I thought would be viable are fading out. I have tweak a 2 man team and another 4 man team. But I think some of my testing will be for naught.
Actually I meant for Flash-Strike to simply mean teams that Strike Fast. Though calling my original team based on Flash+ Gauntlet(Flash-Scream) a Flash-Strike team confused matters. Though I love seeing people use the terms I coined, hearing people say Turtle and Turn at Clix-a-thon made my day.
That said, I think we'll go with BLITZ for quick-strike teams so as not to confuse anyone.
And although I don't think anyone can deny the viability of Turtle and Turn teams, I really hope Blitz teams make some waves.
Also, I'm not sold on the Stranger. To me he's a less flexible but far more expensive Nico. Like her I think his stats make him too soft a target, especially with that point value. Granted if he can pick any two powers in the game and has +2 to his stats then he's a God, but I still am not sure that makes him the best, or even a very good choice.
I think we all need to play with these GG pieces before making any real verdicts though...

Will the Regen be an issue though? I mean I don't expect Thanos to rule tourney's or anything, but he is solid enough that I think he kind of makes WL Sinestro a LOT riskier, the Soul Gem a lot less useful, and the constant Regen to start to disappear. I could be wrong.
Scientist will certainly help, and will make it riskier for the opponent to get close to him, but if he hits let's say 2, the most likely, while on click 2. Now he can defensively take SS and SC, but that's risky with all the PW running around. Offensively he can take RS/PW or PB but while his damage will be solid his attack will only be an 11. I'm not sure that's enough anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I like him, I like any figure with tons of options like him. But I just don't see him as a Metron replacement. I hope there isn't a Metron replacement personally, he was fine pre-pulse wave but post... just too much.
