I freely admit that selling it that way makes sense for the character. Finally something not horrible!
I don't really like that he'd be okay with Inhumans being rounded up and put into concentration camps, but I suppose he's always had the attitude of caring about mutants and not giving a crap about anyone else.

Magneto's hypocrisy is pretty well established in comic history there. Especially since the Inhumans were (until recently) wiping out mutants with their Terrigen cloud... I could see him going "Oh, now YOU guys are being rounded up? Sucks to be you."

Yeah, I don't like that characterization, but it is indeed well-established.

I reread the issues with the super hydra agents. I was correct that Militant was never seen without the mask. Also, they actually did escape at the end and are theoretically still out there somewhere.

They need to see how far their sales can crater compared to last summer!
DO NOT INTERRUPT THIS IMPORTANT SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTATION!
it's like that cry for help when marvel released a statement asking readers "to be patient" with it was essentially them saying, "look, we know it sucks, but pay us anyway"
Okay, a friend pointed out Black Panther's bad###ery in Secret Empire, so that's a second positive thing with the story.
It's almost like Black Panther is taking the exile of his colleagues in the Ultimates and these repeated invasions by a so-called friend who betrayed everything he stood for a bit personally.
Fun quote in spoilers.

"Three times now your forces have stepped foot on our lands, seeking what rightfully belongs to us. Three times now they have been slaughtered. I myself have run out of patience for these games, as Arnim Zola can clearly attest. But he is not the one that rules HYDRA, is he?"
"So I have an offer for this man, who claims to have the right to invade our sovereign lands. Perhaps he would like to stop sending more men for me to kill. Perhaps he wants this to end. Perhaps he would like to come... and see Wakanda for himself?"
Salty panther is the best panther.

You mean there's good character work in this awful, terrible, no good story?
