People can guess on who but no one will know .
Wow, what a random metaphor. I'll bite. Would you tell everyone on a message board about the existance of the map?
As far as other people saying they are protecting friends. Why protect someone who has an unfair advantage? If someone really was so upset that they had to spead it on boards, why aren't they upset enough to let people know who is doing it? If you don't do anything you are just as guilty.
I know how desperately people want this rumor to be true. They are worried about a modern age PC where they won't have a lot of lead time. They are intimated by how well certain teams have been doing. The rumor gives them the reason they desperately need to try to get set information from UDE. It also has the benifit of giving people a reason why they lose to other players other than the uncomfortable truth that some players are better then them.
I see why people want to believe it. So they say they heard something or they know someone has a spoiler list, even if they don't. Because hey it might be true and if they don't name names they can justify their lying by saying no one really got hurt. Plus they think, "hey it might be true, why not take a chance, maybe UDE will cave and give the list to us early, who would be against that?" Never mind that they lied to achive their ends.

If anyone names a name and does NOT have proof, it is considered libel and gives vsrealms a reason to close this entire thread and archive it, plus possibly warn/ban the naming member. Remember, big brother is always watching. Heh.
So seriously, prove yourself right. Go back a couple of screens and look at TIM ####ING BATOW. That ain't no name I ever heard of, but, according to his signature, that's his name, and he got that there spoiler for Marvel Knights, or so he done says.
Is that enough "name-dropping"? Or would you like me to get myself banned by saying the name of someone who I'd just prefer not to mention anyway, but had a spoiler in one of the previous sets? Or, how about Gator's spoiler that he got for Avengers and spoiled cards from in his journal?
No, I don't think we should get an early spoiler. I think we should, as someone else suggested, get an official statement/apology from UDE, possibly temporary (2 or 3 months at TOPS) banning for the players that have the list, and a boot to the ####ing curb for those who leaked the information. But just because some people suggest a bogus solution to this problem does NOT mean that the problem itself does not exist.

so you're saying... if your friends say robbed a bank and got away with it and he hooked u up with some money you would rat him out? hell naw. even tho its the right thing to do you wouldnt. do you know what happens if you get caught breaking rules of NDA? you can get sued for countless amount of money.

Yeah, let's draw up a plan of action.
First, I personally vote for sending Milton Figueroa back to Mexico. I am tired of my hard-earned tax dollars subsidising his trips to burger king and T3 connection to MODO and party poker.
Second, we should file a class action suit against the International House of Pancakes PLC. Twelve restaurants in one canadian province does NOT makes you international! I dunno if you have ever tried to find an IHOP outside of the USA but unless you live in british columbia it is NOT possible. This is clearly false advertising. We should be able to get a few million for pain and suffering damages (rooty tooty fresh n' fruity withdrawal is a #####).
Finally we should all stop and realise that if these 13 pages were devoted to JLA draft strategy instead of the topic at hand, then the next random to go 10-0 on day 1 might actually manage to win a game the next day.
A quick hint: even if you find the best constructed deck in the world you can still only bank on 9-1 day 1, and probably only 8-2. This means you are going to have to win twice as many games as you can afford to lose on day 2 if you have designs on the top 8. If you want to know why FTN has spent the last month practising JLA draft - and will continue doing so for the next month - it has something to do with this fact.
Here endeth the lesson.
(Oh, and can the guy who deports Milton please confiscate his food stamps and send them to me? I assume they can be used in IHOP. Thx).

Wow, a guy has the Marvel Knights spoiler list in January 2006, Pro teams must get spoiler lists early!

you just dont get it =/
My friends don't rob banks. You must keep some pretty #####y company. Anyways I always do my best to do the right thing, precisely because I do get it.

Now, when the leakers get caught, they should be punished to the maximum amount allowable by their contract, as they DID sign an NDA. If they put such stringent penalties in as them getting fired, I hope they can their asses.
But the players with the spoilers never signed nor agreed to anything in exchange for the early information, and so should not be punished nearly as harshly.
I've not read every post in the thread, but I think Prof has it more or less right. One question I would like to know is how did they come to be leaked. Was it a case of:
UDE Guy : "Hey random pro, want a spoiler list?"
Random Pro : "Sure, this will help me stick it to Dave Spears"
or was it more like
Random Pro : "Hey UDE guy, slip me the spoiler and I'll toss you $50"
UDE Guy : "Sure thing Random Pro. The list will help you stick it to Dave Spears"
If Pro's actively sought the list and offered some kind of recompence for it then sure, they should de-bagged and radished (have a radish inserted in them - other root vegetables can be used if no radish are available). Cheating bloody poofs. If the Pro was just in the right place at thew right time, I'm not sure that UDE can go all "Hans" on them.
I think it's more people who used to play on teams now working for UDE. Like Kibler, Derossa, Pippin all work for UDE now and were on competitive teams and obviously have friends who are still on those teams. Not saying those guys leaked stuff but it could be something similar to that.
Also, some teams have ties to playtesters. And some of the big name players playtested the origins sets and still know people at UDE--j
Leaks are more likely to come from the printing/physical production side than the R&D side. I know WotC have had problems in the past with leaks from printers.
some of you must understand that there are people on this board right now that have had access to advance spoiler lists, they cannot name names because 1. they would get in trouble and 2. you have to protect your sources.

If you have proof and have their names, submit them to UDE. If you don't have their names or don't have proof, please stop posting what is in essence a rumor.
I've seen several different folks here say "I know this is happening." Really? Why aren't you taking this information to UDE? Wouldn't it be in your best interests to a) come clean and b) provide where you got the spoiler to UDE so they can punish the players who have gotten the spoiler ahead of time? If they're not playing against you, the field is easier for you to play in.
So, unless you have proof and are willing to go public or go to UDE (or have done so already), stop with the rumor mongering!
