you know, he's shown up a bunch in various media and things, and was a recurring b-lister for superman. i'm surprised he hasn't been clixed. especially in the rev days, he seems like the type. he's got great KWs, bringing a megaton of power of to them, especially assassin and intergang.
i designed the 90pt first. a potent slugger that can nuke you, too as an option. and then i built upon it with the 2 clicks and the to just make the whole thing pop. increasing dmg dealt is HUGE, even with merely being a +1. it was mainly meant to make his multi-pw hit harder, but i really liked the interaction with the _CE powers. he's not trying to be clever, he's just trying to get misguided revenge against superman (how ironic he was never in the revenge squad).
i made him to be the power common for this set.
If I pulled him I'd play him, if you luck up with some TK in your boosters as well you could be taking this train all the way to the top three at least!

Now this is a fun character. The awesome shape change power keep her around to buddy up to a cheap Superman Enemy because that Outwit is fabulous. Just a great twist on Shape Change.
The wording on the trait is nicely put to keep it in check.
Surprising interesting dial for a character that many would have seen as a throw-away.
i thought you'd like her, with her movement power on the track and the shape change on the track tricksy in averting expectations
ol misa (please refrain from jar jar binks gags ) was rocking the she-loki schtick a decade before things got weird in asgard. and she was doing it quite well. there's no way i could dial her throwaway, her character is wayyyyyyy to interesting. she had neat kirbyesque macguffins she'd pull out of her purse and just call stuff to happen. that gives her some neat, offbeat abilities and low dmg that affords a low cost for her effects. just the way support should be. i'm not sure where the idea for the sc came from, but i'm so glad the muse struck me. it seems both incredibly strong but still quite limited by the gamble. but i think just one time of your opponent having to ignore a 4 or even a miss by 1 because the 1 on the die has to go will make you love her

This poor man's Absorbing Man is a great take on the power. Works well in the 2017 rules changed world we live in now that you don't have to use the object in the attack. It is elegant and meshes nicely with his trait.
My favorite part, the 'oh yeah, and he's also got Telepathy.' I'm glad it made an appearance with on the dial with the Super Senses. In a novice hands it would have ended up and a special power or trait.
haha, yeah that esp comes from his first appearance, way back as a mini story before he became the poor man's absorbing man and was pretty much ignored since. but it served it's purpose to give him a good a topdial base defense to be able to rely upon without an object, regardless of whether he was relying on esd or cr afore
carrying the object became such an easy trigger for the mechanic, i was very glad to have it and not have to include optional verbiage for using it, but instead giving him the attack bonus to encourage you to risk it
i was also glad that they both rock cadmus so that it can be a surprisingly robust subtheme throughout the set

The fact that they have L/C or plasticity on those first couple clicks means that good luck with that focus fire part.
I just absolutely love this guy. Of course, I'd need like 10. Good thing he's a common and you don't work for WK, or I'd go broke.
i went old school with these, back when you had to pack a bunch of multiplemen into your starting force without the ability to generate more. a true generic, in that sense, these guys are the filler for every superman revenge squad, and the more the merrier. the damage diffusion ability inspired the signature sp for them practically immediately. scaling their durability based on the number you use gets to be inherently balanced by the lack of traditional generation and makes that early investment more significant. i like your focused attack approach, and their ability to mobilize and swarm is trying to fight against that
their take on the was incredibly easy and obvious. i have been enjoying playing with the superman enemy ta as the trigger for their shared abilities. like the simpler time and how i deal with the bat abilities, adding extra flavor to the unifying ta feels like a fun way to enhance the feel of team play
glad he comes off as balanced to you, and there's no further issue for the riot controversy of 2021

Another great dial for a c-lister
this guy was way too big for his britches. always trying to punch up when he could barely punch down, so making his about aggravating someone and getting within their response range felt like a subtle way to convey his character. the clever player will use this to cheat mobility and either finish them off quickly or be sure there's a riot en route but if nothing else, it could lead to some fun game effects if off the map the player's selling woof tickets to the tentpole on behalf of this 45 pointer

Maxima is really living up to her name with that fantastic damage SP. Being able to make an friendly a wildcard when you have SME TA is so potent.
All that said, it is the Almerac Courtship trait that gives life to this character. It does a great job of telling you who this character is.
Excellent work.
there's a lot of stuff going on in those 2 s and , all meant to interplay with give and take for her point value. the main thing is that she's wanting to prove something, or dominate, or be dominated. the main point is she's looking for love in all the wrong places. yeah, that'll work
with all her tricks and whistles, i wanted you to be able to maximize her performance. and getting to make a friendly a wild card was mean to make her awesome ta and to still function even when you have her operating on the side of the angels. it also lets her be flexible and opt for an opposing character and really go for it, if your build is wanting more flexibility. after all, on her revenge squad membership, she's easily the most powerful and most expensive character on the team, so it's a plan b to keep things going
also thanks to her sp, she's able to (albeit conditionally) pull off the d6 defense hat trick with imperv/ss/sc when making lower point lesser beings drool over her beauty

Have him pulling tokens off the heavy of your squad after using some schmo to outwit superman's impervious - viciously delightful.
And I haven't even gotten to the good stuff. That you get no victor points power makes this rookie such a stand out for 25 points.
For 30 points the perplex is another great grab.
My only complaint about the dial is I feel the vet version a slight let down.
It is probably the one I am most likely not to play, unless I'm looking specifically for enhancement.
Though, it is really not a complaint. I mean you have made three extremely playable dials in one. Even the vet is well worth his points.
huh. yeah, i can see that. the vet's passive support. the defend and enhancement (or empower if you're keen to push) means he's mostly meant to make mad villains madder. this morgan is most likely to get use out of his , notably all those riots running amuck make it more feasible to be the one in the driving seat of the outwit as opposed to merely supplying it. which makes him the mastermind of the team to get them the action token tempo you need to keep maxima going. and his plan b sp keeps him from being easy points after he made those mooks more survivable
the rookie and exp versions are pre-revenge squad and needed to function on their own, so their SPs have a bit more oomph. the rookie publishing magnate, in particular, returns to that old well of the world needing to know something. i thought translating ratings into victory points would definitely ensure morgan gets the exclusive so that ability ceases functioning

Such a nice touch to put it on the attack track too. Allows you to get some sidestep in there to help with positioning for the SP.
Oh yeah, and she can outwit through walls! Nice.
Another excellent design.
oh, thank you. baud's sp is well-inspired by many of those characters you mentioned (and those like them). i took the mechanic of those strafe run SRs from adw as the template and then just gave it crisp wording to do what it intends. i knew the direct path limitation would need a little sidestep to push and plus her for setup, so making it the SP was easy peasy. she's compact but super mobile the entire time. and even when that mobility precludes move&attack on click 3, oh hey, yeah, she's got a range value, remember?
the :star for her was a simple but potent add to it. allowing you to nerf strategies before they come to bear. and the fact that she can follow it up with a strafe run through that blocking and those characters to her target will help her get the most out of both effects. just be sure to carry her TA fuel with her to the other side

Full dial charge is so nice on a bruiser like Rock. It makes his top dial so powerful when combined with his self leadership...and the IM: destroy blocking...and plasticity...
Bonus points for the Damage SP flavor text and the toughness. Oh man. He's been quarried. So choice.
oh, i know i must've done something right when the puns start flying
personally, i loved being able to put such an incredibly long flavor text in the sp for such a super short, simple effect
OBVIOUSLY inspired by ben grimm, i cheated the dial hard. by taking the SI definitive-for-so-long dial, trimming it up and slightly reworking the , i was able to get a great starting point for this tale of revenge and single-minded fury. with great KWs and a clear purpose, he's practically a fire and forget missile you can slingshot at your opponent. other than needing someone to trigger his ta, he's pretty self-contained. which works for me, he didn't work all that great with others. especially once he found out his teammates assumed their mysterious boss (morgan, still) was luthor. oh, no. he did not like hearing that

Bravo, sir. Bravo

the obvious go-to of vampire design was out, because it had already been done (with the prime) and i had already done it! so i was somewhat daunted on how to approach this. i started with the because i had a theme going there, and special outwit bonus for parasite could really only mean 1 thing. after that, bob's your uncle. the will be key for grabbing a power to use offensively whereas his usage will be more about stymieing the opponent or getting defensive stuff for rudy to stick around after they realize what a pain he is. quake a mob and then steal all their defenses for follow ups from teammates or just to stack 'em all on rudy
i tried to keep it as trim and slim as possible. clunky is rarely fun and figuring out how to put verbiage on a diet is half the fun for dream dialers, amirite?
plus the who's who entry repaint would turn that turd from the jl set into the mean green parasite we haven't yet gotten

he is absolutely outwit fuel for everyone else, and he can always rely on his printed outwit to make up for the ability's stipulations. it was an unexpected direction to go in, and one i had not planned. but getting giddy about the goofy jumpsuit from the superfriends and thinking here's a mad scientist with an axe to grind, don't go big, go crafty. we got plenty of big lexcorp armor lexes in the game (and admittedly a couple 50 pointers, too) but i decided to carve out his niche by going cheap as possible in a ff pack
sf allows him to be the lex for all seasons and make him more than a throwaway cheap dial. he's a keeper on the cheaper . it also let me fill up all that blank space. i wasn't going to give you 9 KO slots on a luthor dial, tsk tsk, so getting the idea for doing a couple takes on him quickly became, why not SF them? and why not? means more fun to me, and fun is capitol in my book

Bizarro Charge isn't too bad either. And you still get a great dial on top of all that.
The contrast between the exp and rookie dials is startling, but they both play very well, the rookie much more in line with the classic bizarro #1 conception.
This would definitely be a fun bizarro
thank you, that's the kindest thing you could say. i wanted him to be fun. that sculpt is still one of the best in the game. it brings a smile to the face. i wanted a dial to match that sculpt. we have no shortage of great bizarro dials, that did great jobs of playing with the bizarro concept on a meta level. so i had to tackle some well-worn and well-done material. launching from the jw chases as a cheat, i was able to quickly build the concept on top of it. and bizarro charge where he does it in the opposite order, isn't immune to kb but more likely to receive it, and instead of going to the enemy, brings the enemy with him all came together nicely for me. getting a reason to quake him up like parasite was fun, too. and the bizarro outwit unnamed but definitely shown was a no-brainer even if it took a second for my brain to catch up with the implications of it. the dial really designed itself
the only stitch was how to deal with the printed 1s from the jw chases. ee and incap as legit emphasis was a delight, i loved his criss-crossed face powers, but the lack of clobber was neatly rectified with the string of cce. just enough to keep him in the fight.
you're right in that there's a startling contrast from the 100 and 50 point line. i like that it feels almost frankensteined together, a not-quite-right mismatch lined up nonetheless. it feels very bizarro in its own right

i can only assume this is the reason we got a kryptonian kw. i mean clark and kara teaming up is grand and all, but it's so that metallo and kryptonite man and the like can stick it to him . KWs open up such marvelous design possibilities, but i know i'm just preaching to the choir
the nerfing of the was a nod against the superman ta, and it'll mostly come into play with the extended range against the kryptonian kw, but it'll also serve to make that mid dial stealth operate, as well as make it harder for the poor saps stuck with him and catching second-hand outwit from being able to get very far away if he's camping right (or catching some smoke from a friendly luthor's green numbered clix)
i'm glad the sp is coming off as finesse because i had to hack and rehack it more times than i want to tell to get everything where it needed to be. i was mulling over the concept right before bedtime when i made him and i'm pretty sure i ran through the permutations so many times as i nodded off that i must have dreamed about john corben
and we can also dream up the last of the post-crisis pre-52 superman revenge squads with:
This might be a playable 300 pts brainiac. He's definitely worth it at the rookie line. 300 pts is hard to pull off. The calculation tokens and the raw values he's sporting might be enough.
the oma was hard to pull off in the best of times. now in the age of caav math, ugh, who even knows
but not for a lack of trying, i say! i didn't shy away on the combat values. i think they're inline with expectations for pre-crisis brainiac. and doing the cyclical thing with his defense values was fun, kind of a reboot effect with the changing of the power. at 300, he's going to need to rely effectively on his 12 range and not run in dumb. i think his use of extra sidesteps will be more clutch than the meson effect dump, but options are options
plus, that sculpt is great and i'd love to get more use out of that sculpt. and he was intended very much to be the accessible brainiac we just have never really gotten. still. so ff pack it is!

Which reminds me. This guy should have had a horse pog mechanic.
ugh, i know, i know. nova is just standing there in the art doing nothing. i debated whether including him in the sculpt with a peanut base, but he's a common and should be common because of the dial, i thought about pogging him, but i loved getting to include a vanilla here. so he's there in the speed stats and a few of the powers, but man i didn't do right by the arguvian space steed

Impractical Joke: Perplex. // When an opposing character within 5 squares and line of fire is given an action, IMMEDIATELY roll 1d6. On a result of 1-3, consult the following chart and apply the effects corresponding to the character's action type.
...FREE: Deal the attacker 1 click of damage.
...MOVE: After resolutions knockback the character a number of squares equal to the result.
...RANGE: Reduce the attacker's range value equal to the result.
...CLOSE: You may replace one of the dice of the attack roll with your result.
...POWER: After resolutions, give the character an action token.

The first thing I saw was Unique and I thought "Oh, boy this is going to be good!" and I was definitely not disappointed!
This is also why I try to not do more than peek at your set lists, I love the surprises!
Loomis is a character that continually surprises me at his absence from DC sets. He's got such a unique look, you'd think he would have been done by now just for the fun of sculpting him.
Oswald does exactly what his comic counterpart does so fell, Frustrate!
He's going to make himself such a bloody nuisance that your opponent is going to drop everything and try to stomp him out.....hopefully you'll be taking advantage of that lapse of judgment.
He's deceptively powerful, his on dial powers pair with surprising synergy with his Impractical Joke special.
Free: Oh, he is going to be the absolute bane of support and like with the Science Police he'll make you realize just how many Free actions you take in a round!
Move: That is going to mess with any move and attack, man people are going to be @#%^& at Loomis!
Range: I hope you had plenty of range to spare, because if you end up one short I can't help think that'll be a tad infuriating.
Close: I can bet you if that Close wasn't directed at Oswald, then next one will be!
Power: Dang, now that's the business! Prankster can token a figure ( or figures ) up and then ding them on his turn for a little unavoidable with his Incapacitate. You're going to make your opponent second guess himself on any figure without Willpower and live in trepidation for any figure on a really good click.
Yeah, Oswald is a 35 point figure that's going to draw fire like a 150 point tent-pole. That is just some premium comic accuracy right there my friend!

This set just keeps getting better. Terra man is amazing! Brainiac is a terror. Outstanding job!
aww, thank you kindly, sir quack. this the surprisingly robust superman subtheme that kept growing unchecked as i developed the set like penicillin on a forgotten slice of pizza
i'm really pleased to see a vanilla dial make you smile. terra man was given no shortage of love from me for lack of SPs (man, i can't stop rhyming this time...ing). he's a great old character full of fun, even if black adam made sure his days were done. so it kinda tickles me pink, that a common would need a bifold card, i think. all that flavor text won't fit any other way, so vanilla or no, it'd have to happen, i say!

awesome possum! it's a little thing with a big pain (okay, i'll stop the rhyming, really wasn't trying, i promise!) he's a leftover that just didn't quite make the cut in my silver age set, but i patiently held onto the design, biding my time for where he could fit. through a couple marvel sets, 2 sentinels of the multiverse and an aquaman set where he'd have been a fish out of water (stahp!), i didn't forget ol loomis, and the very nature of who's who made him an immediate inclusion (and technically the first designed) even before i started adding in all the other superman baddies
the concept behind him is exactly the nail you hit over the head. frustrating nuisance. too annoying to ignore. his range is short enough to keep him within threat range, and it's just an sp on the top 2 clicks to keep him balanced, but he's going to irritated all your opponent half the time thanks to that d6 roll. the key for me was flipping the usual script and making it succeed on the low roll instead of the high roll so that the d6 itself could be used within the debuffs
i started with the FREE and MOVE penalties (btw, technically most move&attack fall under POWER) and knew exactly where i was headed with this. with a bit of brain-sweat, i came up with the other effects. i wanted each of them to be different to let you feel imaginative enough to envision different prankster tricks for each one
and you're right on the look. he's so unapologetically goofy. the fact that this guy is swinging against superman is absolutely ludicrous (and planet-moving superman, at that!). so i was happy to embrace that ugly, fat miscreant from his who's who entry all the way! what a fun thing to pull out of a booster and line up next to other villains
Forgive my allergy addled brain, your of course right on the move and attack. Blurgh, I feel like I should be sticking to simple words today.
Luckily like most large slow moving beasts most of my functions are autonomic, in my case that appears to include commentating.
For me Oswald would be another pull and play, of course he'll be even better in constructed, but for 35 points he just brings too much chaos and distraction to ignore.
I certainly would have rather have him as my Rare in sealed than the time I pulled Condiment King......that tournament didn't go....well.
I did get fellowship though!
Lets just say I made a lot of people laugh that night.....and not just at my table.
Worlds Finest was a wonderful set to win fellowship on, one of my all time favorite sets.

I was never really gone Life has just kept me unusually busy since August.
That and I've been tinkering around with some dials, so when I do have time to log on, I'm splitting time off to tinker with some new dial designs.
i hear you, i haven't been spending near as much time on the 'realms or other threads as i used to. part of that is a motivation thing, i'll admit. not jazzed about the game's direction currently

Love this dial.
thank you. his dial is short and sparse because that one bitty sp is doing a lot. the 50/50 shot was a very necessary restriction and it got to play into the pranks for the CLOSE, RANGE and MOVE options all in different ways. man, making a system so linked to a d6 mechanism in a myriad of ways really set things up for interesting and interconnected SPs. so much potential here
speaking of sparse, after you get passed his punkness (if he somehow manages to survive) i thought it'd be fun to spike his defense up to a naked 18 and let him just prob away. there was an intent to nostalgic reach back to old school charm with that. at that point he's all but mobile terrain, and he's self aware enough about it to rest on those pc laurels
