The Myriad: I see Badoon ( at least without the qualifier "Sisterhood of Badoon" ) and I know nothing good is going on with that team.
I've got to say that is a mustache twirler ( huh, is their a female villain equivalent to that? ) of a villain dial. How in the heck did her Squadron Supreme teammates not spot her....lets say extreme moral flexibility?
I do take it that this is the woman that stole 712 Zarda's powers?
I Stopped Feeling Guilt Long Ago, always the kind of thing you want to hear a "Hero" say, never a portent of disaster to come. I imagine her following this up with "The ends justify the means" and "You can't make an omelet without a little genocide".
I'd have to have this dial, the chance to actually make a playable Badoon force (...I'm a classic Guardians fan OFCOURSE I bought too many Badoon! ).
Now I want to break out my classic Guardians and have a game...man I miss playing Heroclix.
yes, she stole 712 zarda's powers, but also her identity. pretending to be her in order to lure the squadron to their doom at the hands of ...dr druid. yes, you read that right. when that went south (surprise, surprise) and her true villainy had been revealed (which she then reveled in with the flavor text on this dial, as well as her machiavellian rants during her battleworld tales with the squadron sinister beforehand), she left and built her own powerbase with displaced aliens left on the earth, taking over their community, and a small ambiguous nation for the convenience of it. i went ahead and made the full-on villain dial for her and focused on her ability to form the myriad with a kw cheat to open up possibilities for your generics without having to worry about all the remakes of various aliens for the kw that ain't gonna happen.
her teamup card will open up that hodgepodge band of leftovers by unifying their SPs, s and such to all key off of myriad instead. so those kree supremacy effects will key off the badoon and the spartoi elite's defend will key off of the skrulls in your midst. i wanted to make her the duhg of the alien panoply
her rather sudden betrayal opened up room on the roster for the quite more noble thundra to step in and the team dynamic was the better for it
Now onto the bruisers. And who better than to start with than the ultimate bruiser.
The backbreaker gif is classic.
This guy is a beast at 300 points. That top dial is going to be vicious with its 12+ attack value. I mean not hard to make that a 14/6. Woooooweee
Steal Energy when he's by himself is just the edge this guy needs at 300... well I know the Super Senses will go a long way. The steal energy's nice because it plays on all the dials.
and the steal energy will offset the colossal stamina to keep him go-go-going, overcoming another oma deficit. my goal was to go all out with tryco, make him the true beast that could take on all those heavy hitters and handedly win. plus that art would make a killer sculpt, particularly for this set
because of the modifiers to flying leap, i put it on the highest end to stack with perplex and the raw stats to let him pound hard from the onset. i'm usually pretty conservative with the upper echelons of stats, but he certainly deserves all those 12s if he's going to be the cosmic champion of combat, after all. i sneak a printed 5 in there (not on a starting line, mind you) to pop with that ew to end folks once his attack finally drops to a "mere" 11 as a nice offset perk if you can get him onto that click. and with colossal stamina and steal energy, you should be able to affect a bit more dial control with him. towards the end of the dial, i let his attack drop to 10 so that all that cce would pop more. you can always opt to use +2 to attack to keep the streak going *ahem* and that's all i'll say about that as it'll make for a good choice between the flurry or the expertise. i especially liked putting it last click with the dropped attack and resurged dmg. fun stats and power interplay keep things interesting to me
the gif is from contest of champions mobile game, using his ultimate move which thankfully gave me flavor and style for a finisher for him. the effect added to the slam is to be a counter to his own ilk, showing his got a bit of self-awareness

But that's not all this guy's sportin'. Arrange a Fight is a crazy power. In the modern era with the team building friendly point values, this power has a decent change to be fully executed. This would be so much fun to pull off.
i'm glad you like him. i had to try extra hard because this dude is as obscure as they come. this was his only appearance, but daggum did he not fit the set like a glove, so i went for it, using every trick in his one book. the port and incap was a crisp attempt to make a potent take on his ability to pop up unexpectedly in a flash of light. gotta make that big, showy entrance, after all.
the sp could do a number on the map and really play merry hob with your opponent's careful placement now that they're all lined up for a 1v1. and you make a very good point that modern point system would make this increasingly possible to pull off. especially since low point values are all the rage

But I can't stop. Reserve Psychology is just such an awesome power. I mean...
So good.
awesome. but don't forget that don't jump to conclusions, in scuttling all will screw over their , , and p/t, too. it's gonna be a rough firs turn for a lot of folk, especially if you get map choice and rub it in their face. i had a lot of fun with this design and with the flavor text. i have an undergraduate in psychology so it was particularly cheeky for me to play with these concepts. and yeah, reverse psychology - as the absolute go-to for pop psychology lingo - married quite well with the set and the mechanics. and it'll make each use of opposing outwit more significant. but also the "can't use" auras of other powers and ooh, i just realized pw, too, if doc isn't in the area of affect

That said, you've crafted a excellent thor dial. One of my checks is more damage close than range, so the CCE checks that box. He needs EE and PW at some point - check. Bonus points for the Donald Blake dial...
No you've done this, but so much more. The forced switch after a humbling event is just brilliant. You've done a great job balancing the switching mechanisms.
Good work here.
i totally agree. he can chuck the hammer (looks at sculpt), he can hurl lightning, but he wants to clock you up in the face. range might have superiority in tactics and in the game, but not in thor's heart . i'm loathe to see him with super strength because he's already wielding the best object he could be, so cce all the way as the solution to your thor needs imho. cce vs ee or cce vs pw (limited to 1 deliberately to reinforce the) provided a hard single vs light mob action, furthering a range vs close rivalry on his dial but legit options. i don't want a 1 way to play him. give him options and let it fly, right?
the blake business was lore and character and something different to do and make the dial stand out. it's a pseudo-promotion mechanic to let you bring him back to glory once he learns the worth of a mortal heart. queue smarmy music

awesome, man. that's great. i hope this project is a wonderful experience for you and i'll catch you when i can. i really appreciate you spending that precious free time to go over my stuff. that means a lot to me, especially on this last set for me
Signature Move: The Dreaded Thundra-Throw: POWER: If Thundra has 1 action token, make a close attack. After resolutions place a hit character in an adjacent square then knock them back 6 squares. United Sisterhood Empire: Leadership. 4-6: In addition to normal effects, remove an action token from an adjacent friendly character with Girl, Lady, Lass, Miss (Ms) or Woman in her name. Signature Move: The Dreaded Thundra-Throw: I love that you've referenced her stint with the Grapplers ( for if the Grapplers are Marvel's Female Furies, Thundra is surely Marvel's Barda ). I also look forward to booting my enemies all around the map....and into walls and over elevation.
United Sisterhood Empire: Considering how many characters I love with one of those titles I can't help but think of the team building fun I could have. To the keyword search function, I have lethal ladies to find!
Opening with Lightning Speed top dial at 110 along with United Sisterhood makes it my choice for starting line.
With Slam, Submission & Slingshot Thundra has surprises all down her dial.
I may have to re-dub this dial "Boot-Ra" when I play her though!

thundra got a good recent dial and i also made her one not long ago, so i had to really up my game to get her dialed in for another take worthy of her character and a slot in clix. the f4 dial has a LOT of bang for the buck, and that made it even more daunting. so this dial is really keyed off her short stint with the grapplers. i mean, just look at the swagger in that sculpt, can't be anything else, but i think in this set it would look really neat with ropes coming out of the turnbuckle behind her. certainly rare-worthy even in its casualness
her "dreaded thundra-throw" will really let you have some fun time on the map, especially when late dial slingshot will let you combo it into a clothesline. and then grab them in a chokehold with submission hold! if you play your cards right and line things up, thundra can do a lot of work on her end dial.
her leadership sp is my nod to her femizonian future. the fact that it got your gears turning so quickly on the teambuilding theorycraft is my delight to give you something fun to think on. i really like it when new clix expands your use of old clix. she's kinda the reverse coin of ms marvel (whom would enjoy this ability) and the femizons kw common to many of the candidates will get improved aid as her global leadership fits her global rule.
while the dial doesn't feature any of her stint in the squadron specifically, it's the reason they are all here in the first place. thundra's wrestling chops was the initial link that got me to build the squadron supreme ff pack and then to expand the setlist with her non-712 teammates into the set. so, thanks thundra. we appreciate it! once she came onto the team, it was a great trade from warrior woman and the tone of the team picked up a lot. truth be told, after they dispatched namor they toned down a lot, but it was definitely an albatross around their necks and thundra helped to polish the heroism of the rest of the team til they came to a head with nighthawk's leadership.
Wow. You're not kidding around with this one. First bringing back the Alpha Flight TA. Then that Department H trait allows some fun decisions and really allow you to expand your pool of characters you'll get to play in a tournament. Alpha Flight is a great choice for this effect.
The clone power is also very interesting. It could certainly lead to some unexpected outcomes.
The detail that makes this dial sing to me is the attack values. They play so much into the character, the TA, and the idea of the Flight being sent on missions by the government.
Just great.
And as a reward for such a well designed character, I give you some Saxsquatch.
The blue clicks are a good call on Colossus. What a great choice by putting in a mid-dial banner click. That is brilliant pairing with the TA. Those damage values are nasty to boot. I want to see a Thing / Colossus Belt match with these guys.

When I Say Runnin', Brother, I Mean Runnin':웃:OO>, Hypersonic Speed. If Blur moves in a direct path, he may also make a close attack at the beginning of the action and after resolutions.

Aw, Man-- I'm Really Running On Empty
Hope They Don't See Me
Phenomenally Energetic
Squadron Supreme & S.H.I.E.L.D. membership? Not bad for a Burger King manager Jeff.....wait does this mean the "New Universe" is gone?
I hope not, I know I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed "Spitfire and the Troubleshooters" and "DP7" very much....."Kickers"...not as much.
When I Say Runnin', Brother, I Mean Runnin': an interesting way of making a mixed "Flurry/Hypersonic" ability. At least Jeff has gotten good enough that he no longer takes off peoples fingers when he grabs their guns!
I especially like the interaction it'll have with Sidestep, giving Jeff a boost to his maneuverability.
I'll always remember his self title "Jeff Walters FOOD VAMPIRE!".
Shape Change does a good job of getting across the frustration of trying to hit a man in constant frenetic motion.
I also like the Empower down most of his dial, allowing him to zoom around the battlefield lending support where most needed. Which is very much in keeping with Jeff's combat style.

Throw the UCWF keyword on this brute, pair him with the power broker and watch the tears of your opponents fall.
The 25 pts Colossal Retaliation dial is so much fun. 8 knockback. Yes! I love it.
I really like your take on the smashing through walls and emerging with an object. The heavy object twist is especially nice.
haha, i always imagined beating someone up with their own barrier and this makes it possible . and oh, yes, paired with power broker would be absolutely devious
i went old school design here and let you earn that printed 6. but up top he has enough mobility to get that quake into unignorable positions to get the ball rolling. this hulk is built for mischief
the rookie dial is essence du smash. this is mopey bronze age hulk trying to be left alone, and knowing that when people do want him around, it's just to beat up whatever. they really like banner, but they use hulk, so the is the colossal indifference in all but name that has exception for the kind of big threats that the world is only ever nice to hulk to deal with. and the retaliation of massive kb felt really true to the character. lashing out and then leave me be

You're welcome.
jammin' out to some sweet saxsquatch while i type this
i make no bones bout alpha flight being a pocket favorite for me. as much as his appearance in the challenge of the champion is his reason for being here and garners much of the flavor text on the standard powers, i based a lot of this dial on the quirky vol 3 that wholeheartedly embraced a doom patrol strangeness (that was always there...) in a gla tone. highly underrated run that was tons of fun. so sasquatch's not-a-clone resurrects the shared from wf doom patrol to grant it to his kw. combined with the the department h team shuffling, it's to represent the many shakeups of the lineups and they're continued abuse by editorial (somebody's gotta demonstrate the seriousness of this crossover event ) but they keep bouncing back, eh? with 1 more tweak of the old-ata-now-ta with a defense boost (for others so that he catches the fire in true tank form) walter is meant to be the cornerstone of the team. mac set things up and i love heather, but walter was always the backbone of the team imho and here i get to rep him as much as i can
thanks for liking the dial flow. keeping costs down, i have him the sturdy strong tank up top (with nary an odious activation click in sight) and then he dips off in attack and armor, but towards the end the lowest stats are paired with cr/bcf to overcome them, a pop back up in attack and a dash of perplex to make it work. for being called alpha flight, they tend to take it on the chin initially and rally with their plan b

the refresh transformation was the basis here, as well as the emphasis on the signature move. once again, i leaned on the contest of champions mobile game to give me a finisher for a character. once it again, it was a lifesaver for the theme and set. his ability to soak dmg and then return fire seems like a good tactic that's very colossusy. tank it up and punish those overconfident fellas that thought his teammates were easy pickings.
but even before i decided to flesh out the challenge of champion subtheme, i already knew i wanted ol' wrestling trunks to be in this set. it was an amazingly immodest look for pete that really worked when he was steel and was pretty awkward when he wasn't . it wasn't his best look, but it's an unclixed one i'd love to see and fits this set well

definitely! jeff was such a great guy from the getgo. he completely noped out of the nonsense friction got herself caught up in and even when he got to dealt the angst card, was able to push through it onto the other side rather smoothly. he carried this with him ...when yeah the new universe was destroyed and you're looking at the sole survivor. but the thing i loved about jeff in the squadron is that he whole-heartedly embraced how insane 616 was, geeking out over the existence of aliens, fairies, robots and other dimensions. while he mourned his world, he made the most of the new one 'cause his was too "real" to have any of that cool stuff
i had considered his squadron costume for the sculpt, but when you can go ohotmu, you always go with the ohotmu . and finally working in a full dp7 subtheme that's been in my queue for a while, waiting for the right set, meant i wanted to go big with dp7 and their look represented. so, old school blurry jeff.
the dial features flavor from the dp7 run (minus accidental mutilation of digits, you just had to bring that up ) but the KWs are comprehensive. along with his aww shucks for the new world, he took a shine to studying up the heroes of 616 and was absolutely starstruck by jim hammond ...even though he was being arrested by him . on the otherside of the story as everyone when their way, jim saw a lot of potential in jeff that just wanted to do the right thing and recruited him into shield. i really want to see that fleshed out, a whole super-shield team led by jim of the leftovers from books and tales that got cancelled ahead of time and left good material that could still be explored. ah, a man can dream of better days
The first Marvel hero pulling the disparate leftovers of worlds and teams into a force under S.H.I.E.L.D. would be a book I'd want to read.
As far as the New Universe...well that makes me sad. I'll especially miss Mastodon. David really tried to be the hero everybody needed him to be....and in Nightmask's words he had the romantic sensibilities of a twelve year old girl.
After the events of "The Pit" and "The Draft" everything petered out to a pretty unsatisfying conclusion ( especially for the DP7 ), but to wipe the whole universe out of existence seems a bit extreme.
I liked thinking the big goofus finally got to be with Stephanie. After the revelation ( with the help of Miriam A.K.A. Sponge ) that some women like big muscly nice guys....I know, shocking!

yeah it really got weird after their events. 'course dp7 was already falling apart (structurally, not narratively) at the institute. not a lot of optimism in a "real" world . a lot of characters got weird or dumb, but i think petering out is a great way to sadly describe it all (don't get me started on lenore!) and all along dave was pretty dumb. glad he got some confidence in the end. my head cannon also has randy and charly finally getting together after they get over their respective selves and stop being so weird about what we can all see.
