Regarding the question I asked at the WK Judges Forum, the discussion is split (as it is here), with a SLIGHT leaning among judges to follow the Galactus format and tightly schedule the Marquee event(s) within the short time frame, thereby reducing the chance of multiple wins by any one person. Of course, this is a non-scientific opinion poll.
Well if 14 people were able to show up on sat there's nothing saying that the events can't all be at the same time. Either that or one Colossal fig per person.
if you read this then you lost 10 seconds you'll never get back.
Hi, I'm Harry and I am a Clix-aholic. I go by Gazelle at Approved Play events due to some wackiness with WizKids and being unable to access my "punkrabbitt" account with them.
The Starro events were my first Approved Play events. I was only able to go to the last thre because I needed to take some vacation time from work to show up. When I went in, I had no idea if I would even be in the running to win. I am a casual player, and really don't metagame well, I prefer to buy my figs secondhand so I can assemble the teams I see in my favorite comics. Building from sealed boosters is illogical to me, but that was the format so I give it my best shot.
I learned a few things:
I have no business being in a sealed booster event. It's not my play style and I am simply a punching bag for anyone who plays me. Maybe I can register and someone can simply be give a first round bye and save me $20?
There is a lot of friendliness and camaraderie going around. I was able to do a few trades, and several folks were nice enough to donate a few commons and uncommons to fill in the top half of my checklist.
I had heard from players at the Galactus events that at the final event you could usually get hooked up with the LEs you were missing... I thought having a Staro Slave team would be fun to play, but alas, I was not hooked up with Flash and Aquaman although it was suggested they would be available. No worries, I managed to get both from E-bay for less than the cost of a sealed booster event
So that is a general summary of what I thought of the Starro events. As my first approved play event, it gave me a sense that i really don't belong in these kinds of things. I will bring my girlfriend to New Guy Night at Little Shop Of Magic Tuesday 27nov, because I really want to play with that Hulk piece, but I can't imagine that opther events would do much for me. Shop up, get beaten, lather, rinse, repeat as necessary. Because I need to use vacation time from work to attend (my days off are Minday and Tuesay, I work nights) this doesn't seem like a good use of resources to me.
So I guess my contributionn is that prize Sharking doesn't bother me, I won't be to more events like this and someone needs to sell them on E-bay so I can buy them. But I won't pay more than $200 for one, so i probably won't be doing that either.
I never suggested that Tyler was a prize shark! Only the Other guy! In fact, Tyler is such a nice guy (and a poster child for the Anti-Screw Fellowship movement! My words, not his!) that he Virtually gave me the second Starro as he said that he didn't need two or the money from selling a second. I was not gonna say anything about this, but I don't want him lumped in with the prize sharks. I of course gave Tyler Rare and Super-Rare dupes I had that he didn't have so I felt like better. But he assured me that he did this cause we (Nick, Vickiy and I) were family to him. I have know Tyler about 5 years and can say that he and Nick (my Son) have some of my personality traits as I helped raise them. Color me proud as can be!
Well, well, well. I thought I had seen that map before - go over to the Artists Guild Forum here on the Realms for pics of the Hell map and others. Wish I had taken a moment to look closer at it.
This makes me feel great about Tyler and the game in general. While I can understand somewhat your reluctance to expose Tyler since there are those that may criticize him for the decision, I'm glad you decided to share the moment. Screw "Screw Fellowship".

I don't want to play a game of chess where dumb luck or money decides whether or not I get to use a rook... Collectibility is a necessary evil of Heroclix, not a boon.

Was Tyler at Kool's on Saturday? I'm bad with names, so if he was I forgot it.
Tyler won at Sci-Fi Center and Hosers. Don't think he attended anywhere else. If true, that makes him a 1.000 hitter - SUPER ALL-STAR. Roland hit .500 for the Starro season AND both of Tyler's victories were head-to-head matches against Roland.

So tempe tuscon and phoenix get the pre-release. CA gets many.
And Fallon, NV gets one....
But not us...
U.S. Route 50 is the main road through town. Fallon is one of the westernmost cities on the Loneliest Road in America, the stretch of Route 50 through Nevada famed for its remoteness. Eastbound travelers must go 110 miles to find the next town, Austin, Nevada.
