The deadlock between the Spectre and Giant-Man continued as the villains ganged up on Hellboy.
"Guys? A little help," Hellboy called out. The Man-Thing began shuffling in his direction. "The swamp monster huh? At this point, I'll take anything I can get."
Neither of us are getting too far tonight on this game.
Character roll: 1, Lizard. Event: 5, possession. Needs 7 to mc Hellboy & 7 is what he gets. He'll move to J4.
Again Giant-Man outwits Raven's pc.
Psimon outwits Man-Thing's poison.
Selene tks Hulk to J9.
Hulk on Man-Thing. Needs 4, gets 7. 1 to Man-Thing after toughness, Hulk heals 1. He's on flurry so attacks again. Needs 5, rolls 5. This time Man-Thing takes 2 after toughness and Hulk is fully healed.
The Man-Thing senses Hulk's anger, empty as it is. He approaches him hoping to end his misery. He's mauls the Hulk with his strength while his back is turned.
Hulk doesn't feel much but he does turn around and wails on the Man-Thing. "Hulk kill monster-man!" he says in his zombie-like state and proceeds to do so.
Nightmare's blocking Psimon's LOF to Man-Thing. He can't Outwit Man-Thing's Poison. If you don't, Man-Thing's Damage Shield would cancel out any Steal Energy that Hulk does. Of course, you didn't give Nightmare any actions, so you could just move him out of the way. In which case I'd just need your new position for him.
Spectre yet again on Giant-Man, AV11 on DV18. Gets 3. This is one of those times when I'm tempted to go back and count just how many failed attack rolls I've made against this one particular character.
Hellboy Leaps to N6
Man-Thing can't do a thing against the Hulk on his first click. He'll breakaway. Gets 2, but he's got Plasticity, so it works. Moves to J13
V Man-Thing (Damage Shield) @ J13 (6!)
Gargoyle J14 (2!)
V Raven (IK-Triage) J15
V Ghost Rider (FF-Lazarus Pit) L15/L16
Spectre (Lazarus Pit) @ J12
Hellboy (BPRD-Vendetta) @ N6 (6!)
Twelve. I've made twelve failed attempts to hit Giant-Man this game. And that's not counting the ones that I had rerolls for PC. Then it'd be more like 14 or 15.
OMG...it's not like an 18dv is all that great, either. You may be right about Giant-Man turning the game around for me. Still one good hit on him and he's hurt bad. Plus I haven't even dinged Spectre.
Giant-Man's the only one who can move and he can't do much. He'll outwit Man-Thing's poison and will attack him. Needs only 4 but has to get it thrice. 10. 8. 6. Man-Thing takes 2 after toughness. Giant-Man outwitted his poison so no damage shield backlash.
J6 (4) Lizard V (Pounce)
L6 (2) Psimon (Mental Shields)
K6 Selene (Mental Shields)
K7 Hulk (SN) (Zombie) (Shellhead)
M6 (8) Nightmare (Stunning Blow)
K13 @ Giant-Man (M & M)
Character 4 - Ghost Rider. Event - 3 The Ghosts. That's definitely going to hurt me more than it hurts you. They roll a 10. On my side, everyone but Hellboy gets a token. On the plus side, the Ghosts have done what I couldn't and hit Giant-Man. He gets pushed. As does Man-Thing, which KOs him. Spectre gets a second token, but takes no damage from it.
Gypsy will replace Man-Thing. Pummel to her. She goes for Giant-Man, AV9 on DV17. Gets 5. Uses her Pummel. Gets 7. Rerolls for Gargoyle. Gets 4. Here we go again. Rest clear.
Once again the wave of ghosts passed through the house, expressing their discontent with the invaders in no uncertain terms. They flew straight through the combatants, sending chills through to the core of their beings. Brave as the heroes were, they were scared. These restless spirits filled them with fear. And it was that fear, that emotion to which he was more sensitive than any other, that drove the Man-Thing mad. So much of it, all in one place was more than the creature could bear. It fled the house,
"No! Stop!" the Spectre called after him, but he was gone, out into the no-man's-land that was the outside, into the oblivion. Apparently to the Man-Thing, the oblivion was preferable.
"Well, this is interesting," Gypsy thought, slipping invisibly into the fight. "Maybe by being unobservered, I can trip up this giant." She tried using all her force, tried exerting leverage, but Giant-Man didn't even notice she was there. "Or maybe not."
