So with the Steelers pretty much dead, does a resurgent Chargers team give Indy its only possible competition on the way to the Super Bowl? Are the Bengals strong enough to be taken seriously as a contender? Am I leaving some AFC team out? I don't think the Titans have a shot as the tragedy that was the first half of their season was way to much, and Indy handled them easily twice. The Pats are definitely way down. I don't think the Fins are deep enough anywhere. Is this going to be a cake-walk to the Super Bowl for the Colts?

The Colts have had a cakewalk of a season. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Yes, they are probably the best team in the AFC, but there are plenty left who can beat them, most of whom you mentioned.

It's debatable if the Colts or the Vikings have eaten more cake this year.
But really, I think the Colts are the heavy favorites*, Chargers are formidable... except for the fact Norv Turner is their head coach. I think the Patriots (and to a lesser extent, the Bengals) all have a decent shot at it.
* In the AFC anyway. Right now it looks like it's the Saints' world, and we're just living in it.

Colts had a cakewalk? Not so sure about that. Opponent's winning percentage of .512. They are in the top half of the league in strength of schedule.
And they are 12-0. Sorry but it doesn't matter who you are playing, going 13-0 is never a cakewalk. And as far as the Texans go - you are what your record is. They lost the games because they couldn't win them. They have talent, but they don't win games. You can't say a team is that good if they aren't actually winning the games.

.512 doesn't say, "not a cakewalk". Their only decent opponent was New England, who has been failtastic against decent teams this year. They're in a division with the can't-win-for-#### Jags, Texans, and Titans. These teams have only beaten each other, and other really bad teams.
I've said it before, I'll say it again, you want to look at the stat-line, that's fine, but stats don't tell the whole story.

I'm not a colts fan either, just saying.
I already said the Texans don't know how to go for the throat, and that the Colts are the best team in the AFC. So......good job on the going for the argument for the sake of argument???

Well sure, the best team doesn't always win, its always gonna be whoever plays the best that day. I don't think Indy has been playing as invincible as they have seemed at other times in recent years over this season. I just don't see anyone else consistantly capable of taking them down. They had some pretty close games this year where they could have lost, but so far have found a way to overcome. Nobody in the AFC seems capable of shutting the door on them. I think it would be a major upset if they do not make another Super Bowl appearance this year.
NFC- Is anybody convinced that the Saints are unbeatable? Like the Colts, they have had their share of close ones, and found a way to win those. I really hope that if they finish the regular season undefeated, we see two undefeated teams face-off in the Super Bowl. Miami's enjoyment of being the only perfect season team in the NFL has lasted for a long time. Part of me hoped I would never see that record matched (or some would say exceeded in the modern era longer season format), but another part of me kinda hopes to see it fall.
Do they award the league MVP before or after the Super Bowl? If it were given out today, who would you vote for? I gotta go Manning, with Brees and Favre tied for second. I don't know if there will be alot of agreement, but I am interested in seeing what you guys think. I think if Chris Johnson had scored a couple of TD's against the Colts, and they had won that game or just put the outcome in question, my vote would be much different.
Not arguing for the sake of arguing - but to say they have had a cakewalk to 12-0 just doesn't make much sense when they have a good strength of schedule (not the toughest but still in the top half of the league), and they have beaten every team they faced in every way possible. And with all of the unjury problems they have had they are still 12-0. Only team I see beating them in that Chargers. They are always one of the toughest teams at the end of the year and into the playoffs. I actually think they will beat them.
I don't think there's much that can stop the Colts or the Saints from having perfect seasons. The playoffs are a different matter though, and having watched the Patriots closely in their "perfect run", I can tell you that it seems like the pressure keeps rising the further one goes --yes the quality of the opponent is generally better in the playoffs, but the run seems like a distraction once you're in the postseason. I almost think the Patriots would have had an easier time winning the Superbowl against the Giants if they'd lost a random game earlier on and tossed that whole "perfect" thing out the window.
I guess the simplist way to put it is to say that I think it's harder to win those 19 games than it is to win the Superbowl (even though one must win the bowl to do it). Exponentially harder.
Not that it can't be done. I'm doubtful about the Colts, but I think the Saints look pretty good for it.

Except they haven't. They currently own the worst rushing offense in the league, and, hand in hand with this, have some of the worst ToP in the game. While Manning's handled it well thus far, he has a history of this being a large issue for him in the playoffs. Furthermore, many of their wins have been due to excellent 2-minute drills, mostly against the aforementioned horrible division opponents. They're not closing games well. I'm not saying 13-0 is easy, but their schedule most certainly is, if you actually look at who they've played, rather than tout ".512" Texans, Titans, Jags. Those are three very bad teams with .500 records, and they've played each of them twice.
You compare the way the Colts win their games, to the way championship teams of the past win their games, and you'll see a considerable difference. They're currently the best, but they're not walking into the Super Bowl.

Every team in the league has horrible injury problems this year. I have 3 fantasy teams that have been scrapped because all of my players end up on IR. Chargers aren't the only threat, either. The Pats nearly beat them, and could get in that position again. Bengals could certainly beat them. Dolphins would love another shot at it.
About the only playoff contender I don't see getting it done at all, is who they're playing this week: the Broncos.
