Just looking through the threads, I was wondering one thing:
Aside from the the Turkey and the Turducken has it been said anywhere else that cards are all Print and Play legal now? Or that any of them are? I looked on the Wizkids site and didn't see anything in the announcements and I haven't seen anything linked yet from the Realms.
Personally, I don't mind PrintNPlay (and I have paid for cards in the past) but I was wondering if this is something that I should start expecting to see at my venue.

Maybe I'm just more comfortable with this transition in thinking because I've never really liked the concept that I needed the dial to use the Figure.
The 'real' figure is the effect. I pay a cost to have the powers for a figure. Why some turning clix base is more legitimate than me having the words written verbatim on a piece of paper has always been fundamentally dumb to me [I understand all the arguments about keeping track and preventing cheating, but I've seen more than enough people lose track of the powers they have, and I could have easily photoshopped the dial itself].
So making all of it less tied to a physical bit of stuff is just moving it closer to my Utopian vision of not even needing a figure. [A single Figure Sourcebook. It's exactly the same system as the clix base, only larger. Imagine!]
Now, is that a little bit ridiculous? Of course it is. But I fail to see that much of a difference in having a hard to obtain feat, and having a hard to obtain figure. There is a reason why it's a 'collectable' game. If everyone has everything, why even have blind boosters then?
The people who are saying that feats etc are not an 'essential' part of the game (especially in the tournament setting) are foolishly deluding themselves. Since the introduction of feats in MM, how many winning teams at the regional and national level, have not had cardboard elements included? Pandoras Box was opened, and now instead of shutting it (I am not advocating the complete elimination of feats) it's being opened further. I mean really, the clix base or a sculpt of a particular figure is not 'essential' either. Why not just have a print out of the stats of the character you are using, and then just use anything you want to represent the figure?
Player: 'See that Moloid there, he's really the Chase KC Superman, I just don't have the actual figure, but I do have his stats/dial printed right here on this piece of paper.'
I am a player more than a collector these days. I really could care less about the secondary market value of the game. What I don't like, is the fact that I now have to be the one to print, cut and 'assemble' some of the pieces of the game on my own. That's not what I 'signed up' for, or what attracted me to this game in the first place. Ease of use, and pre-painted/assembled/ready game elements that made it open a box and play, were a huge determining factor for me when I first discovered the game.
I played Warhammer in high school. Just before I found clix, I went out and bought a bunch of WH figures, paints, brushes and even a mounted magnifying glass with a built in light. After about a week of painting, assembling and frustration, I put it all into a closet, and never looked at it until I eventually gave it all away.
I've always looked at the feats as an 'essential' part of the game. I've never subscribed to the 'feat by proxy' idea for exactly the reasoning I've outlined above, because where does it stop? Print off your own dials? Paint your own figures next?
There was another poster in this thread, that said he'd read an article that stated that Fortitude, ICwO, Protected, Thunderbolts & Warbound were the most widely used 'figures' in HC. I am wondering how many people actually think that this new PnP policy is going to not only curtail that, but does anyone actually believe that this policy in not going to produce more use/abuse of said elements?
Cost cutting for the sake of costing cutting is never a good business practice, especially when you don't pass the 'savings' along to your customers. I am paying $13.00 for a booster now, and yet I am getting much less product than I used to,(Feats, BFCs, POGs and Event Dials all eliminated from boosters) and I am expected to then use my own further time, money and resources to be able to 'complete' the set. I haven't seen a noticeable increase in the quality of the paint jobs, plastic or sculpts, yet all the 'sheep' here are just 'happy' that we have a new HC set to play etc etc. So I guess when the price of a booster goes to $15.00, and I have to start painting my own figures I guess I should just be 'happy' that I have new HC to play?
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........
The big question I have about Print and Play.. is does that mean that Feats from older sets are tournament legal again? I loves me my Swingline.. but it's from a "restricted" set. I'd love something official from WK saying all feats are considered legal again..

This doesn't change anything about retirement AFAIK. You can print retired cards for unrestricted games, legal cards for restricted.
There was a Robocop III you know (so don't be racist)

Technically, there is no retirement now as long as your venue doesn't make it a house rule, as it is entirely up to venues now for tournament restrictions.
For now, that is, until WK updates the approved play system like they said they would do with the next set.

As I just mentioned in another thread... the official tournament rules have not changed.
However, since Venues are now welcome to schedule events in whatever format they see fit, they are able to schedule Unrestricted events where Retirement is not a consideration.
When we start seeing "official" events again, we'll learn NECA!WK's position.
I just want to point out, quoting someone, then changing their words and still attributing the quote to them is bad form. I thought Uberman had actually said that ridiculous post but really it was just someone else quoting him and changing it to an extreme, irrelevant example. If you're going to do that, don't make it look like you're quoting someone else.

That's what I thought.. our "judge" has decided that our "restricted" format is anything from the Legion starter on.. so nothing pre-2.0.. so most of the feats I liked to use.
It's a shame.. cause Green scar with Swingline and Lunge is just wrong on so many levels.

You are absolutely right. I had meant to bold the changes and comment that I had made those changes. I got called away from my computer and hit submit and forgot to make those changes.
