That sucks, I would have liked to go to the CIYS event since it's on a weekend and I'd actually be able to go.. too bad it's Labor Day weekend and I have to go out of town
Sounds cool though, hopefully everyone ends up with some cool stuff. The constructs alone seem cool enough to me, seems like the only way to get the sniper rifles..
I don't know how you could take a newer player recommending a place with other new players as an insult or backstabbing. I didn't list all the places that made me feel unwelcome or anything. I could though to give them a good reason to be butthurt.
You were not here at the time the community split over various arguments in the old vegas thread. Frankly...it has never recovered.
No one wants that to happen again. Call that "sensitive" if you like. But such stuff has no place here.
If you have problems with Jeff or his venue, simply dont attend it.

The quote you used did not contain the "sensitive" quote you referred. Neither did you include the correct target of the accusation of said "sensitivity." If you actually read what happened, you'd see that first, a player asked for where to play, as a new player. Second, Jeff responded with help. Then Kyle responded with help. Then Jeff took offense at the audacity of Kyle not to show him the respect of mentioning him along with Roland and Patrick.
That's the sensitivity. That's the root of the issue. And that's where you should be directing your lecture.

That's bull####. I'm not saying character assassination is ok, but if I have an experience at a venue or with a judge, why wouldn't this be the place to voice that problem? How many players are we going to lose/ have we lost from the community due to bad venues/judges? Especially with this "keep it to yourself" attitude. Someone learning the game incorrectly for months at a time, getting stomped by meta trash, and not receiving any help could very easily quit (or at least not be incentivized to keep playing) if there isn't communication between players about issues associated with a judge or venue.
Here's the thing. It's a free market, and we as players/customers can and will play wherever we can/want. You don't want people talking bad about your venue or judging, fix it. You are not owed equal representation. Especially by players. Look at Action Comics. They refused to come down on their prices, and now no one goes there for Clix. But it wasn't an individual choice by each member of the community. Word of mouth spread, and sure enough they've stopped doing any events all together.
TL;DR: I won't be censored, bro.

Actually, Kyle said that no one but Roland helps new players. Then amended it to add Patrick. Both of whom are fine judges. But given you have other good judges in town (Dustin for example) you can see how someone might take offense.
Roland does well to teach newbies. I've also seen him destroy newbies on the space map. Everything is relative.
I know that I swag new players heavily at my venue. I know for a fact that Dustin has taught many new players. While I didnt take what you said personally...I can see why Jeff did.
My issue is this is not the place for this. The old vegas thread got shut and deleted precisely because of this attitude. Mods were very unhappy and we've already been warned that it was not going to happen again. You all came along after that...

Actually, we lost players because of several flame wars here that split the community. We have more venues now...but less people travel to the other venues than they once did. Some dont travel at all and some quit the game.
So if you have a venue issue, take it to pm. Or show up at the venue and speak to the judge in person. After all, if you have a personal issue, be man enough to speak it in person. I dont care. But dont bring your issues here. It just makes things worse.

They probably shut this thread down because of the few of you who take things way to seriously and try and bully me and anyone who disagrees with you. Its an open discussion. Its funny how the two stores the new player already goes to and got most of their collection are the ones who's judge's got offended. I realy don't get it.

Thanks for all the info guys. I hope to visit all the venues in town, seems like i'll have plenty of places to learn how to play and get involved with the community.
