“She seems soft,” Midnighter said observing Swift in the training room with Apollo.

“Maybe, but she’s fast, and has good instincts,” Hawksmoor said as he watched her dive under an energy blast, flip around and fly straight at Apollo catching him off guard.

“She doesn’t really bring anything new to the table though.”

“True. That brings us to our next recruit. After dealing with Etrigan, and with Adam One gone, we need a connection to the Mystical side of things.”

“I hate magic, and the people who deal in it.”

“You’ll love who I have in mind. He might be the most powerful mage on the planet. He’s 16 and hates magic.”

“Wait, little Harry Potter hates magic?”

“He’d rather skateboard.”

“Then why would he help us?”

“Because, we’re not like the other people who’ve asked for his help. We also have added incentive.”

“What are you talking about?”

“It’s not often I get to catch you off guard. It’s fun. Let me do the talking but you can come along.”

Jack and Midnighter step through the “Door” into a London park around dusk. Children are playing. Jack and Midnighter walk toward the sound of skateboards on the sidewalk. A young man with unruly brown hair and thick glasses nails the landing after grinding down the rail, but the sidewalk goes “soft” thanks to Jack’s interference and the boy’s forward momentum is stopped.

“Mr. Hunter can I have word,” Jack announces as Midnighter blends into the shadows.

“I don’t think so Mister,” Tim says. He has a feeling he knows what this guys is going to ask.

“I’m Jack Hawksmoor and . . .”

“Look, sir. I don’t want to be rude, but you’re either with the government or some superhero group, and I’m not interested.”

“What makes you think that?”

“You know my name, and you’re not from around here. American accent makes me think you’re a superhero, but you don’t have a costume . . . Wait! You’re not with the Cold Flame? Or Constantine?”

“No. I’m with a group called Stormwatch.”

“Never heard of ‘em.”

“Good. We want to keep it that way. Merlin founded our organization to protect humanity and the Earth from forces that the world is best off not knowing about. We need your help for when those threats are supernatural.”

“Look that sounds good and all, but I just want to be a normal kid. I don’t want to be the world’s greatest sorcerer or any of that other rubbish Constantine and the others want.”

“Normal’s over-rated kid. I didn’t want aliens to abduct me and experiment on me for years starting at the age of 8, but we all have our cross to bear. You’re a sorcerer. You have power whether you want it or not. You could make a difference.”

At that moment a teenage girl of Southeast Asian descent walks up to Jack and says, “Hey, Jack who’s your cute friend.”

“This is Timothy Hunter. Tim, I’d like you to meet my associate Jenny Quantum.”

Jenny sticks her hand out and Tim shakes it out of habit. He is clearly quite taken with the young woman.

“Tim doesn’t want to be a superhero Jenny. He just wants to be normal.”

“I don’t want to be a superhero either Tim. I thought about being normal for awhile. Didn’t take. I’m a century baby. I was born on January 1, 2000. I’m the spirit of the 21st Century which means I’m shaped by the technology and attitudes of this century and will likely die on December 31, 2099 at the stroke of midnight. I can’t be normal if I tried. What do you say, Tim. Come be not normal with us and save the world?”

Jack says, “Door.”

Jenny extends her hand. Tim hesitates for only a moment and takes her hand the two enter.

Midnighter slips out of the shadows, “Well, Jack I did not see that coming. You planned on meeting Jenny here all along.”

“Yes. I set the meeting with Jenny a couple of days ago and the city made sure Hunter was here at the right time.”

“That was devious even by my standards.”

“We’re going to save this world whether it wants to be or not.”

well guys, i think the time has come for me to say farewell to my clix. i don't think i've played a physical game in two years, but i just haven't been able to bring myself to let them go. They are just collecting dust and taking up space. I was pretty much a completionist from IC through Chaos War (especially Marvel). picked up a few (mainly via sealed tournaments) after that.

The only things I will probably keep is one of all my Wolverines and the Supernova zombies. If there is anything you are looking for from these older sets shoot me a PM, I'd love to find them a good home.

I also have about 30-40 maps and other stuff if you know a venue that needs any of that stuff.

I'd much rather help out a "leaguer" or someone new to the game.

the only thing I ask is that you don't PM me wanting figures like the CW Scarlet Witch for free just to sell it or use as trade bait.

Also, I mentioned this before last season, but I'd like to follow through on the "fellowship" prize. If there is a way for everyone who played last season to PM me the player you would like to nominate and a brief reason why, I will come up with something to award them.

*I will not limit this, but I would suggest it be someone who made it through the full season without forfeiting multiple games.

Actually, Rokk was only here two full seasons I think, and Kazzi was an old player who had returned for a season.
