I feel like this is a callback to a story I've forgotten.
A college friend of mine used to talk of an old pen & paper RPG based on Ghostbusters. Whether they made it more lighthearted or if the game system was designed to be that way, some of the things they did in the game bordered on the absurd. I remember him telling me that in one adventure they had to fight a poltergeist which was into sodomy. This had been particularly difficult for his Ghostbuster character who was Mr. Rogers from an alternate universe where he'd spent time in prison and had butt tattoo that said "Exit Only"

I think we have different definitions of "more lighthearted." That sounds significantly scarier to me than the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.
