WIZKIDS ANNOUNCES NEXT GENERATION OF HEROCLIX GAMES.

October 19, 2003 (Seattle) - Wizkids will release their next generation of dial-based games, with their newest game, HEROCLIX: POWERBOMB.

The gameplay will be very similar to other HEROCLIX games, however, it will not be compatible with Marvel, DC, or Indyclix gaming systems. This game will also be independant from the upcoming SPORTSCLIX system.

Jordan Weisman, CEO and President of Wizkids, said that "While the gameplay will be very similar, the "powers" and "abilities" have been drastically changed to compensate for realistic strengths and weaknesses. This was intended to make gameplay more realistic." Weisman also stated that "Initially, we were going to call this game WRESTLECLIX, but we thought that the HEROCLIX name was fitting for this game system as well, due to the fact that wrestling has had it's share of heros and villians, just as the comic book world." The company has kept this project under wraps for quite some time, as they worked vigorously to acquire licensing rights for past and present superstars.

Wizkids had great success in acquiring the licensing rights for all current WWE superstars, as well as legends from the past. Vince McMahon, CEO of the WWE, said "Our partnership with Wizkids will be a long and prosperous one. We believe in their games, and we believe this one will be a huge success with gamers of all ages."

The planned release date for HEROCLIX: POWERBOMB! is slated for January 21, 2004. However, production is behind schedule, which may push the release back to mid-March.
