Thats what burns me Luke, that isnt so much skill as it is using the latest power-build, Im higly UNIMPRESSED by the lack of orginality, thinking, and general working at thier supposed massive potential.
Grathel, actually, it takes a good amount of tactical skill and planning to pull off the Kaboom successfully, especially in light of the domains that slow things down. Also there are several ways to turn the Kaboom against it's wielder.
Using Kaboom or Bonestaff in an army build is really no different than someone equipping an uber unique with a relic that prevents it from being shot, or someone surrounding a BOL wielder with figures so it can't be based, or fielding an army with nothing but masses of low pointed figures and parking them on objectives and waiting out a win, etc. Bottomline, it's what the game allows and there is no lack of honor playing a solid, effective combination or figure.
What is disgusting, however, is when people taunt others, cheat, don't help out younger players, attacks people personally here on the Realms, act in a bigoted or racist manner, etc. Using uber figures and solid tactics is not disgusting in this respect, IMHO.
Luke should have won first place,. his army doesnt rely on the latest "in" thing. And while the kaboom CAN be risky, you honestly think players of Barrels or Tsets skill have any real risk of that happening?

Probably not, they are solid players.
They both know how to construct solid armies from a given pool and play them well. I bet most of the top notch players, including yourself, could win consistently with almost any army. However, in this case they constructed what others thought was the best army and they are being congratulated for it.
Congradulations to all of you who sent in armies, there were some really interesting varients, but like Grathel said, they were all of the same basic design. My view on that is that in a small pool of figures like this was in, once a powerful figure/combination (Putting Kyma in was just asking for it to be abused) and the whole prospect of "non-cheese" is gone. There will always be people like me and Barrel who will go for the throat in a competitve competition and field the best armies we can. For this, It meant KBow.
I don't see what the problem is, the idea was to throw together the strongest army from the given field. Personally I didn't go for kbow, but then I was following my current strategy when I built mine.
Anyone who feels that this is wrong just needs to remember that it was the rest of us that gave them the votes, if we thought the armies were bad we didn't have to vote for them.
