Again, maybe Checkmate has an Ongoing Plot Twist (possibly Threat Neutralized) that keeps your Kings from KOing. If they do, Ahmed improves slightly, but you're still depending on something bailing you out just so you can have a tutor ability and not pay the price for it.
Have you seen Threat Neutralized?
Not only is it a 'decent' pump [a +1/+1 for a character for the turn ... nothing huge, but nice for sealed].
And an ongoing effect that causes ANY card that would go from play to the Ko'd pile to instead be removed from the game.
It doesn't JUST prevent you from losing for your King.
It also COMPLETELY ruins most Dr. Light tricks especially ones that are built on recurring characters.
It's a little hard for Anti-GL to work if you remove the Anti-GLs from the game when they go to the KO'd pile so that Faust has nothing to target.
And the X-Foes might not like being unable to use Hard Sound Construct for say ... Beetle.
etc, etc, etc ...
Ultimately, teaming this guy up to use with other teams is likely going to depend on what ELSE the team does. If anything, it's the LOYALTY that is the biggest cost ... the 'risk' of losing the game isn't THAT great [Total Anarchy would be a bit of a pain].
However ... for a League deck, you'd likely need to team up before you'd get this guy out ANYWAY ...
His effect might seem costly.
But he's a Demon's Head
That can replace any resource, including a used one.
He can do it every turn.
People pack Poison Ivy.
She's a decent sized 2-drop, but she requires you to feed her a character.
Still ... people PLAY her ... because getting locations into the resource row is THAT useful.
This guy does it even more easily. However ... you have to meet the loyalty requirement, and have to make sure your opponent doesn't KO the character.
You don't want to play a character that could lose you the game if he gets KO'd. Fine.
Other people aren't so scared.
However ... as I said before ... a lot of people thought that the 'no hand' stuff for Squadron would be 'too costly'.
A lot of people thought that the resource KO'ing for Roy Harper would be too costly.
Ultimately, if there's enough power ... people are willing to pay the price ... because it's not the decks that pay the least that win ... it's the decks that are most powerful.
Then again, the most likely thing might be Dr. Light being out of order some how, he seems too integral to leave out.
I'd expect an unaligned or non-VU Dr. Light if there is one. He's barely worked with the team.
Anyway. Dr. Polaris: good card, simple ability, all around very strong.
Threat Neutralized is the first card out of DCR that seriously threatens to change the metagame, because it absolutely annihilates a lot of decks. A turn 1 Threat makes AGL rush maybe 1/3rd as good a deck. It completely destroys Secret Society, puts a major hurt on Glock or any other Dr. Light-based deck - I'd say Squadron's probably going to run this to get the edge over those other decks. This is a VERY important card, folks.

It has to target a Checkmate character, so it's not going to be splashed in other decks unless they are also running some Checkmate characters.

There it is.
Although I'm curious about what is between Polaris and Psycho ...
Talia already has multiple versions ... Black Adam and Alex Luthor will show up on other teams probably, so the other 3 members get dual versions.
Just based on the ones I recognised as having 'bigger' roles.
Injustice Gang could get the Injustice Society as their legacy content:
Gentleman Ghost, Grundy, Ragdoll, Johnny Sorrow, Icicle, Wizard, etc
Secret Society's legacy content could be the Society that shows up in Crisis of Concience:
Wizard, Star Sapphire, Matter Master, Felix Faust, Floronic Man and Chronos [limiting it to the 'new' members would eliminate Wizard and Floronic Man]
Thing is, neither Dr. Poison nor Dr. Phosphorous actually fits in the gap---both come alphabetically before Dr. Polaris. Looking at some Who's Who lists, I'm not sure of any character that fits precisely between. It could be a funky name-order switch, like Club Dead or Dawn Granger, but if we're assuming the normal checklist rules I think it has to be another Psycho or Polaris.
And while they could conceivably do an Arthur Light <> Dr. Light, I'd be pretty surprised; it would be the one instance I can think of where a single character had versions with different names.
