I think WizKids should finally put those Clix Points to use and run a mail-in offer for a Galactus if you send in a few hundred Clix Points. Then you know only the serious gamers will be getting him.
ps - I'm not really serious, but I wouldn't mind getting rid of the numerous shoe boxes full of booster bottoms in my basement...
42: The answer to Life, The Universe, and Everything
Originally posted by Funky Jett I'm certainly NOT joking. You people are blowing this SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO far out of proportion, it rather pathetic now. I stand 100% behind what I said.
If you dont think this was a major fiasco for them then you got a rosy outlook in life. I'm not saying this is the biggest travesty in the world, I'm saying as a paying consumer I was disappointed and upset at how things were handled. Don't I have the right to voice my opinion? Hopefully by bringing this to the attention of WK they will fix it so it doesnt happen again.
Why? Have you been to a con before? I haven't, yet from here in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I could have told you that getting into line at 6:00 AM was not any type of guarantee. Some people can run faster than you can.
Did I say I should be guaranteed a Galactus if I waited at 6am?
Once again, why? It wasn't their convention to run. They are not responsible for making sure no one cuts in line. They ARE responsible for selling to a handful of dealers though, and that is a long-standing policy of theirs. You were still afforded an opportunity to get yours, but you didn't. Too bad. There was still a lot more to do at the con. Too bad you didn't look into those things.
So they're not responsible to conduct an orderly line? Then whose job is it? If they are not responsible for making sure no one cuts in line, why did they change their polices and start a ticket program on Sunday? FYI I was lucky enough to get one of the last handful of Galactus on Saturday.
So should you then. Their supplies were based on Wizard's information, so if there is anyone to be angry with, go to their forums and lodge your complaints there.
Look, if my customer asks me when a product will be delivered and I give them a date based on inromation given to me by my supplier and I miss that date, my customer calls me and complains. They sure as heck dont call my supplier.
Back that truck up right there, buddy... Why in the world would you think I have never been frustrated by something? I want lots of things and I am very frustrated that my financial situation is such that I cannot buy a house. Does that mean I should go to the builders down the street from my rent house or to the bankers and demand they give me a house because I was on this block before they started building and their ads said I could get a house "With Approved Credit"? Sheesh... "I don't understand the frustration." All I know right now is, all you people are very frustrating to us, so I think I DO understand your frustration.
Well, if you purchased a product and for some reason it didnt work when you brought it home, would you just forget about it and move on? I know that analogy is not completely accurate. Right or wrong, Wizkids led me to believe that there would be "plenty" of Galactus for everybody. When that clearly was not the case, dont I have a right to be upset?
I have heard people suggest WizKids should have brought 2000 Galacti to the convention (20% of the expected 10000 attendance, which was wrong btw). A single skid holds 80 or so Galactus figures in their box, from what I was told, so 2000 means over two TRUCKLOADS of skids. There is no way ANY company would bring that many figures to a convention. The storage costs alone would be astronomical. Plus, there is the Teamsters Union they would have to deal with.
What's more costly to them, the storage costs or the upset customer base? Looking back, do you think Wizkids would be willing to pay those costs or would they rather deal with the current situation?
You guys flame me all you want, but you really need to get a life and stop complaining about this. And to ThePope and Greenandgold, I'm sorry if the toy was your SOLE reason for going to a convention. That truly WAS bad planning on your parts then. There is WAY too much to do in LA, let alone the convention, to go there for one single thing you realistically should have known you had very little chance of obtaining. Any expectation other than "you have a chance to get one" is solely your faults. If you feel the need to blame anyone, blame yourselves for placing your expectations higher than they should have been.
So would it have been better for everyone if no one complained? When you are a paying customer you have a right to be upset when you're not happy with the company. Hopefully the company takes your feedback and tries to do better next time. If they dont they will lose customers and eventually go out of business. If Wizkids continues to make these mistakes they're going to lose alot more customers.
Funky Jett mentions storage cost are astronomical. no way is the cost for storage astronomical. Besides, the Galactus pecies wouldn't be in storage for that long, considering they are pretty much in big demand right now.
as for the convention, there were other things going on. The convention wasn't just for the LIMITED Galactus marvel hero clix. As implied, LIMITED. I for one would have liked to seen Galactus offered asa regular game peice offered through comic book shops or as a mail away offer.
Back to the convention; it (convention) wasn't held for the Limited Galactus Hero Clix game peice but for the comic book industry in general. Plus also if you were old enough, there was the night life in and around LA to enjoy. i definitly would rather be doing that!
of cousre i did not get one, but i did not attend. If you got one, your lucky. i would like to have one, but won't lose sleep over it if i don't get one.
Well, once again I've stumbled onto what looks like "the Ugly thread".... I blame myself. What is it about human nature that demands that we slow down or stop to watch a train wreck in progress??
Anyway, I have nothing but sympathy for those who shelled out vast numbers of dollars for a trip to Los Angeles and then, after going through all that hassle, didn't get what they came for. I actually considered going myself... for a few weeks I kicked around whether I could afford to make a trip like that. I'm reeaaalllyy glad I decided not to go after all.
In the end, I'd decided that the only reason I'd be going would be to get my hands on a Galactus, maybe the LE Invisible Woman and Silver Surfer too. But that would be it. In the end, it would've been an 800 mile trip (one-way) that would've ended in disappointment. The problem, of course, is the cost. There was no way in Creation that I can afford to shell out over a $100 for a single figure that cannot be played in tournaments. (I don't know about the rest of you, but we only play 200 or 300 pts. up here in Sacramento). $100 dollars for one figure is ludicrous... if I refuse to shell out $50 dollars for a Nightcrawler that I could feasibly play, there's no way I'm paying double that for a Galactus that I can't... no matter how bad I want to re-create the Secret Wars (I'm still missing Volcana, Lizard, and the Wrecking Crew, anyway).
All said and done, it's way too much for one figure. I'm not surprised they didn't bring more with them. They're probably shocked as all get out that as many people wanted to pay those prices as showed up asking for one. I can see the conference now: "How many Galactuses should we pack up for the con in L.A.?" "Ah, no more than 300... you don't seriously expect people to pay that much for such an expensive figure, do you?" Guess they learned their error. Too bad they're not going to do anything about it. Sorry, guys.
I'm stuck in Utah so I've resigned myself, if I want a Galactus at all, that I'm going to have to pony up some cash to Ebay sellers. I just hope by the end of the convention season that the price will have equalized more. The current $300+ price tag should be enough to shock me into how really stupid spending money on this hobby is. We don't call this stuff "plastic crack" for nothing.
God help us if any of those yahoo managers is a parent. Since when do you forgive some lame "I'm sorry. I'll do better" excuse? Words are cheap. Action shows real character. They've indicated nothing to solve the problem. An apology without action means diddly.
Wk runs their business like fool Moms and Pops. But they make a very cool game. That makes putting up with a lot, but their trading on that good will with me is starting to run bankrupt. If I put up with it I have no one to blame but myself.
Still I'll probably just wait till next year for Galactus if I'm even still interested in it by then.

It is probably the most ignorant post I've evr seen on these boards, and I'm including the countless "Firelord is borken" et al threads.
Expresso is European (Italian, if I'm not mistaken), as is coffee originally. Canada is in North America, and was a British/French colony. North America is not in Europe.
I think the reference to ESPRESSO here was a dig at the fact Canada is half-English, half-French. Both in Europe. Both big coffee drinkers. When ale or wine or waify pubescent boys aren't available, anyway.
Berets are worn by your some of your elite military forces, correct?
Um...yeah. Groucho Marx used to wear one too. Point?
Our government is modeled after the British system, while your is loosely patterned after the Roman system. Last I checked, the British system was the model for democracy (see Magna Carta, 1215) while the Roman system degraded into a decadent culture that was corrupt at its core and was subsequently abandoned by the free world. Our system is a democracy while yours is a republic. There is a difference. We have a Charter of Rights and Freedoms which contains basic rights such as free speech, right to vote, etc much like your constitution. We, as a people, are against censorship. Again, a difference between our cultures.
How can you be BOTH modeled after Britain AND a democracy when Britain has been a MONARCHY since, oh...the Iron Age? And what censorship does America have? Except for the fact every good word here is replaced by #####
Compared to your government, yes we are more Socialist. Can't argue that, it's pretty much a fact. ADD? We have quite a stable system, actually. The party in control changes no more frequently than yours, I imagine. Our multi-party system does allow for more opinions to be expressed at the highest level of government, though.
We exist at your sufference? That's funny. See: NORAD, NATO, War of 1812, NAFTA, etc. It's in everyone's best interest for us to coexist. Please don't take us with you when you implode, though.
Actually...like it or not, like the Dutch, the British and the Romans, America DOES kinda run things right now. I am sure we will be replaced sometime, but yeah, every single one of us down here pretty much knows we could take over Canada with a board with a nail in it. Y'all ARE part French, you know.
A joke to the rest of the world? Have you ever travelled outside of North America? Canadians are well respected world-wide. We are welcomed in many countries, and have prevented bloodshed through our peace keeping efforts. Many Americans identify themselves as Canadians when abroad (flags on backpacks, etc) because of the animosity towards Americans.
Let's use this time to check off the ways Canada has improved the world during their existence...
Um...Chris Jericho and Bret Hart come to mind, um...
Moving on!
Rightly or wrongly, Americans are regarded internationally as: arrogant, insular, poorly educated, militaristic, and meddling. I'm not saying I agree with that assessment, but it is common opinion internationally.
It is sad, but I beleive that international opinion would be much higher if Gore, Clinton (somehow), Dole, etc were in power instead of George W. Bush. He's perceived as being less than...intelligent, by the international community and by many Americans.
But y'all sure come a-running when you need your tuchus rescued don't ya! Clinton was a disgrace. The reason he is so respected by y'all is because he matched your depravity. DOLE? You mean the Viagra guy? HE would have been better? Oh yeah, you rock, dude.
Sorry (there I go, apologizing as any good Canuck would) if any of this seems condescending or rudimentary. It seemed as though you had never read of a book, or been educated in any way, so I felt it best to start with the basics.
I GOT IT! CANADA'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WORLD!
1) Money with beavers on it
2) Moose roadkill
3) When something needs insulting but it isn't French-worthy
4) ...nuts. That's all of them
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to take my Dog Sled out to the Fur Traders Depot. I ran out of bacon and maple syrop, and my igloo needs some repair work before the other trappers come over to watch the big Bonspiel tonight.
So let me close with words you can understand:
Ribbit
Ribbit
Ribbit
Ok so the Galactus was only 75 per day and I did not get up 4 O'Clock the next day( or camp outside the night before) to get in line to get the big G.
Why the heck did it get to the point of the line wrap around the convention floor and up to 10 hours of waiting????
More cashiers at Whiz kids booth????
Give the people in line the rain check and tell them to go and enjoyed the show!
It is really sad as I walk around the WWCon on sat going from on booths to another, getting the signatures and the merchandises I needed. Once in a while I glanced over my shoulder and peek at the G line. Still the same people....Still the same frowning faces. Obviously they were unhappy, resentful and angry at being in a situation they cannot control. It went on like that until 3:30 pm until I found a group of people totally exhausted on the floor but never the less got what they wanted....the Galactus LE. I ask them is it worth it?
They comment they were too tired and too dazed to be happy that they got him. Some said it was too late to enjoyed the show since they missed all the specials and signings.
It change my view completely about getting the big G.
Why should I wake up early the next morning drive 60 miles;
Paid 20$; Wait in line for another 10 hours on the con floor; Watching all the con goer go by enjoying them self. While you mop the floor with your but, hoping to get to the cashier and let them tell you that Unleashed booster is sold out and the only thing left is DC hypertime.
Nuff said!

Ok, its been asked, but what exactly do you want WK to do?

Everyone needs to immediately back off of the Canadians. They gave us Morgan Webb of Tech TV's "X-Play," and she is truly the greatest thing since the egg-white omelette.

Bruce Banner: But I haven't got a gash on my cheek.
I read through all 14 pages of your stupid whiny posts to tell you to stop making whiny post. Why on earth did you force me to click on this link and read all your whining. Sure you call them legitimate complaints from upset customers on a site DEDICATED to heroclix, but these kind of threads about Heroclix convention exclusives have no place here on the HCRealms boards and I am tired of seeing them and will post on them only to bump them further up the boards?!?!?!?!?!?!
That was fun. Everything worth saying has pretty much been said on BOTH sides of the issue. I don't want G-man I look at him as a convenient means to get Silver Surfer and the Inv Girl. While I would turn around and sell him on ebay I would not intentionally gouge someone on the price. Bad planning on WK's part pure and simple. It really sucks for everyone who spent money to go out to Cali and came up short. I am down here in the land of the "stupid" president, so by the time WWT rolls out here Galactus probably won't even be an issue.
Acmite two things:
1.Coffee originated in east africa and spread to all the other lovely places we now associate with it (trust me on this my GF is east african)
2.Us ignoranted americans are always going to pick on canadians and vice versa. I always thought of it as a "friendly" hostility that exists between neighbors, try not to take it personally. I mean come on you're part french?!
Anyone remeber that set retirement would not take place in the forseeable future, ie June 2004 3 months after the announcement. It makes me wonder what "we have taken steps to ensure that many more people will have a chance to buy Galactus at future conventions." really means.
Chuck Norris is the only person who can simultaneously hold and fire FIVE Uzis: One in each hand, one in each foot, and the 5th one he roundhouse-kicks into the air, so that it sprays bullets.
Sent from djkunai hey genius
You weren't there. You have NO idea what happened. It wasn't that they were ill prepared or other people were also. It's that people were shoving other people out of line and WK actually LET retailers buy near half of the Galacti available. It wasn't 15. Retailers were buying day badges and getting in line to get them.
Again, you're an idiot for assuming anything.
Very nice and friendly. Sometimes I just love HCRealms with all it's closeness and family atmosphere.
Sheesh...

In my day, we didn't have Heroclix. If you were being attacked by Superman with a 3d dumpster, you just had to hope you could outrun him.
