(Out of curiosity, what's to keep the "renting out a character" bit from being abused?)
Renting out characters is actually pretty infrequent. Most people probably just prefer to use their own characters--so far as I know, it's only when a team needs to give an injured figure a rest that a character is rented.

Makes sense.
I was just wondering if, say, bear42 and I were brothers (obviously we aren't but humour the example ) what would be there to keep him from trading me Kal-L for 1 pt (and then 1 pt back so even trade) on games where he doesn't worry about needing the Big Guy? (Basically giving us two teams as a "pool" to build from when figuring out who we want for a match).

Strictly speaking, there isn't any rule that prevents that sort of thing (although the morality rule would prevent Kal-L from being on a LSV team). I'd imagine, however, that whoever tried it for that purpose would come in for some mockery.

Si, Carlos! Music has always been a huge part of my life. First as a listener and then as a non-professional musician (in the sense that I get no money out of it, the rest is absolutely the same as beeing a professional). But just so you know, I've turned to the Dark Side of music... Yeah, I'm into heavy-metal! I've always been!
The playing part started 20 years ago (it was back in 1990 IIRC) when a friend invited me to join his new band. I had a guitar on those days (yeah, every metalhead wants to play the electric guitar - afterall, the guitar is THE main instrument on heavy-metal, I believe), but he offered me his bass guitar in exchange for my instrument. I played it once and fell in love with that majestic pounding sound! So I traded my guitar for his bass and from there on I've joined 6 different bands, recorded 3 albuns and some more EPs, bought 6 different bass guitars (last one arrived last week), travelled the whole country in great live gigs and generally, having a BLAST doing it!
Playing on stage is THE most exciting thing you can do. Looking at the audience banging their heads, raising their arms, screaming to your songs is absolutely... exhilarating!
BTW what did you play when you were younger?
Yes! and you get all the chicks!
I played a small "Arpa" (the Apollo's Instrument in Greek mithology) for some reason chicks were not so exiting for me when I play "Happy Birthday" in that instrument when I was 6.
Yeppers. Due to winning my first game even if I lose every other game leading up to Midseason (which is pretty darn likely), I'll end up being -1- point shy of the figure I want to draft.
1. This is the first season with a waiver wire, so you can give up a figure before the midseason draft and get some points that way. Also, you could just trade one of your figures for points--this is traditionally how you raise extra points before the midseason draft, although you'd probably get a better deal through the waiver wire.
2. "Rent" out a figure for a game for points. For example, say Villain Team X's tentpole gets injured in Game 1. You could trade, say, Time Trapper to Villain Team X at the end of Game 1 for, say, 11 points. In return, Villain Team X agrees to trade back Time Trapper to you at the end of Game 2 for 1 point. You have a net gain of 10 points, and Villain Team X gets the use of Time Trapper for Game 2 and doesn't have to play its injured tentpole.
3. Trade your draft position for points. If you have a favorable midseason draft position, you could offer to switch with another DC team in exchange for some points. This puts you in a less favorable draft position, but it could work if the figure you want to draft isn't likely to be taken by someone else. (Presumably, one of the terms of a deal like this is that the team on the other side of the deal agrees not to draft the figure you want.)
how many games we play before the midseason?
we have a new draf there were we can choose between the figs already draft? or I can choose between figs of other players?
how many points we will have to get a new fig in midseason?

ey! I need (the real) Kal-L for my Black Lanterns!

If it makes you feel better Carlos I play guitar (multiple types), bass and have started on the drums (plus some piano and a few other assorted instruments in my past that I never pick up anymore) and I never get chicks either.
(Of course this may be due to the fact I'm not in a rock band and have a wife. )

Ok, Carlos let me try to enlighten you a bit. I'm still recent here, but I think this is how it works.
a) We play 2 pre-season games and 3 regular season games, before the mid-season game;
b) After the regular season game #3, you are allowed to pick up 1 (and only one) figure from the pool of available figures. You cannot pick a figure held by another player, unless they trade you for it or you steal it (be aware, I'm not sure how the stealing process works, so please ask another guy)
c) You get 10 RPs after losing each game and 5 RPs after winning them. I looked at your team in the teams resource thread and I saw you have 19 RPs. Those were the points you banked after doing your core and draft picks. Now let's say you win every game until the mid-season game. You would get 5 RPs each, meaning 5 RPs x 5 games for a total of 25 RPs. Add those to your 19 RPs and you've got 44 RPs to recruit a new figure.
Then there's the new waiver wire rule, as explained above. Drop 1 figure and you can use its point cost to get your new pick.

wow, 10 points for loose and 5 for win? is not so bad to loose sometimes after all.
No, definitely not! Probably it's the basic strategy for the first 2 pre-season games!
Unless you're so much in need of stats for one particular figure (like me ) that you just have to keep attacking to get those SAs rolling. Eventually, you'll end up winning...
Oh, and just to clarify on my math. I looked again at your team and it seems all the stats have been updated. This means that those 19 RPs (recruitment points, if you were wondering) must include your 10 RPs from losing your first match with the Ultimates. So, even if you win all games until the mid-season, you would only get 39 RPs, not 44 as I mentioned before. Just to clear this.
