I don't think we have confirmation what the starter will be. The GL Fast Forces pack will not be it as they confirmed awhile back that the reason it was 15.00 or so was because it didn't have the PAC and Rulebook in it.

Right. All of that is as I understand it, too. Each of these products has had a statement about it not including a rulebook, PAC and tokens.

I hope -- I really doubt it -- that no one at Wizkids has gone Print 'n' Play crazy and thinks they could just get away with putting "For complete rules, visit Heroclix.com!" on each of the new product packages and consider it taken care of. I happen to have access to fairly nice color printing, but for someone with an inkjet all that color's likely to be a bit messy and run into some expense, and many won't even have an easy option.

Agreed. It is a bit odd that we know almost everything due out this year, except the Starter. It may be something where it's tied into one of the summer series and they are having to keep it under wraps for that reason. I'm hoping anyways.

Right, which could be a good lead back to Fear Itself. For a couple reasons I've been taking a break (roughly a year now) from new comics, so I'm out of touch with much of what's going on right now. If that event has a big twist/revelation coming this summer Marvel may still have them on info lock-down*. It could be, too, that something like a starter (and possibly the gravity feed boosters) aren't being approached with so much of the Limited Quantity/quick sell-through mentality, which may be why some of the solicitation for them seems to be held off.

It's plain that the new Wizkids is constantly trying new variations, though it's not clear how much of it is in search of a magic marketing formula and how much is them wanting to keep everyone off-balance and speculating about what'll happen next.


* Wild, blue-sky thought which will likely lead nowhere, but as I'm among friends: I'd understood that there's at least a supernatural angle to the story, and we did get Mindless Ones in the most recent set. Could Dormammu be a hidden villain in the tale? I know, I know, he's something of a niche character and the Mindless Ones were in GSX via the (unfortunate) Nextwave association, but the above came to mind so I thought I'd mention it.

Aside from being connected to some surprise storyline by marvel I can't see why it's such a state secret. Even if it was just to say there is a starter but the content is a surprise or to be announced.

That was the extremely subtle reason that it was a horrible suggestion.

I'm one of the idiots that thought it was a good idea until I realized the key word thing.
