The reason I made Inferno invincible was for story purposes.
I wanted him to survive to the end.
It would be weird if he bit it night one after being such a huge part of the earlier stories, and basically being the big antagonist for this game.
He could have been an NPC and accomplished that - the "power in the shadows" so to speak.
The fun thing is that pretty much exactly this happened in the fourth game too, and it was K-Ness that time too. It worked with Luthor last game since Mafiosos could be recruited into the cult, but... yeah, no such luck this time.

Another possibility would be to just cripple Inferno and take him out of action that way, but let him remain as a power behind the scenes and direct the rest of the Mafia.

Cripple Inferno?!
Most people can't even get close enough to touch him, how do you expect me to cripple him?!
I would just like to point out that I was a clue cop for those of you who doubted me, albeit a useless one. I think the fact that Kness was invincible until the mafia was killed was balanced by there only being 5 mafia and it was really obvious he was scum.
1. The Aranatta kidnap thing was a total broken clock. You all pegged him as a mafioso based on nothing (if he had been town, the town would have acted exactly the same way).
2. I maintain that Quebbster's play made him look scummy, and I was convinced he was a neutral until he autopsied.
3. So there was no cult? An Immortal_Raven just autopsied neutral? It definitely alleviated his pressure on me when someone else (not mafia) killed him and he came up neutral.
4. Balance. Yes, I think K-Ness's role was unbalanced. I think the only needed adjustment, though, would have been to make him block-able, or kill-able after night 4.
Notice that the rest of the mafia did not have a strong power set. Really. Stan had extra lives, but was our only blocker, and killed himself to use it. We only used him three times at night. K-Ness had a great misdirect, but he was also our best killer, so we had him killing most often. Afrcngy's power was not useless, but ended up helping us very little. Aranatta's power cop was helpful, but ended up not being used purposefully for the second half of the game. My own power helped me on my fake claim, and helped me create general rabble against folks that were never lynched for it.
The last three nights or so, we basically just said: "K-Ness kills X, the rest of us....uhhhhmmmmm" we could not use stan and no one's action would help. We had tons of information gathering powers, but not a lot of 'mess with people' powers. Information gathering is great at the beginning, but messing with people is needed throughout.
That being said, our mafia performed really well. And the town pegged all of us as mafia by about half-way through. Darq and TBB were especially on point.
Girathon: you did not do badly. Instead, I think the game went on long enough that you started forgetting things about players. By night 9, I was the only player that could have been Rexinator. Everyone else had appeared in the write-up. No one alive realized this.
Fun game, but I understand the town's fatigue towards the end. I think there were a few too many things happening during the day to stop lynches, and that got on people's nerves. For all that, it was balanced, imo.
That is true fish. I pointed out a few days ago I misplaced my notebook I keep notes in. I had no clue what was going on. This factored in to some questionable choices I made in the other game I was in too.
With sstralkowski it was amusing, especially all the death posts we got out of it.
With K-Ness it was just friggen annoying.
I'll take that as a compliment. Me, ERR, head and shoulders (ok maybe just head) above the rest.

I tried. No clue if my traitor thing worked or if the whole Strobe thing did a darn thing to help us. I figured at worst, it was just something else the town would need to think about and make their decisions more complicated.
With Calmnic's power to remove votes, Space Jawa's Gangles phase, stan's multiple lynching, and K-Ness's immunity, it felt like very little could be done during the day phase for the town. I think that created an air of hopelessness, even though for all that the town was very close to pulling off the win.
The mafia thought that it lost when it was just stan, K-Ness, and myself. Stan had one hit left. If he did anything in the night phase, he would die. So, we started planning the night phase with stan killing himself off to complete the nightkill, but then changed our minds to a more tactically sound approach.
