"Since there has been concern over this issue I want to clear up some confusion.
• Those events set up as a WizKids supported event will remain just that; “WizKids supported”.
• Properly setting up a Wizkids supported event will generate an order for the support for the event regardless of how many participants the event ends up having.
• This is the same as it has always been and is not affected, in any way, by the event’s end rating and ranking structure.
• Events which have fewer than 8 players are to be rated and ranked as casual play events.
• The difference is in ratings and rankings; this means that larger events, with more players, will be rated at a higher level.
• “Casual” events do not “take away” support.
• Casual events actually give venues, envoys and players a way to have rated casual or “pick up” games. Consider them as a far more flexible version of “Venue Supported” events which now includes rating and rankings."
OK gonna act lame again (and keep your comments to yourself!!! )
So if I have only 2 guys show up every week in December, what does this mean? This above quote solves nothing for me.:disappoin Someone spell it out for me.
I just checked the schedule for the PR - the event starts at 3 PM. I'm not interested in driving to CA mid-day and returning to Vegas at night - still too many CA wacko drivers heading to Vegas on a Saturday night. If it started at 12, like Kools, that would be different.

Wizkids supported = they give us prizes.

if you have 2 people or 12 people you get prizes

casual and competitive only determine how many "WKrank points" you get.

So you get more dci....I mean WKrank points for attending events with more people

so you can still be a ranked player even if your group is only a few people.
you may not be number 1 but you still have braging rights over Podunk Yahoo from Juno, Alaska for that number 12,564th place
I don't want to play a game of chess where dumb luck or money decides whether or not I get to use a rook... Collectibility is a necessary evil of Heroclix, not a boon.

This part I dont like.
So I play in competitive tournaments. Do well. Get a ranking and all that.
Then comes 4 weeks of venue play.
Do I play the DD squad...knowing that by doing so I wont win as much (or at all)...or do I bring a power squad.
If my win/loss matters...then forget "fun" teams. I dont see many mis-matched fun teams NOW, let alone after rankings start...

It all depends on how much you care about the rankings....
I personally do not.
If I win and get a prize great if not oh well...
though there are a few prizes listed that I do really want...
Ok...
But right now people use t-bolts, ICWO, protected, etc. And no rankings are affected by the w/l.
I see this system favoring competitive play, and hurting fun teams, of which there is already very little.
Can anyone think of the last, pure fun team, that you played in a weekly event. One designed purely for fun or laughs or comic accuracy, but really standing no shot of winning??

You had me up until you said no shot of winning...
fun or laughs or comic accuracy does not have to equal no shot at winning.
My 300 point T-bolt team was comic accurate.
Granted they did not start really useing bullseye until after Mach 4 and Techno left. And Cit V = Baron Zemo.
with the point constraints a little stretching had to be done.
Jak usually runs comic accurate theme teams.
Now I admit I have not done that in a while but I was also also trying to playtest some keyword teams.
However you are right we usually dont play "fun/silly" or comic accurate theme teams.
I don't think the Rankings are going to increase the competiveness we already have (at least as far as Vegas goes, maybe every one else will increase the "cheese" to get higher rank )

Actually, I disagree.
We have an "avengers Zemo", as well as earlier versions. Sure, with that Zemo, your team is probably weaker. But more accurate. And a team that is playable as "fun".

Which is my point. And nothing is even up for grabs now...

That is what I am afraid of. Things will go that direction...

I wholeheartedly disagree with this. I make fun teams all the time (well not really lately but I think you get it) and rock the socks. No matter where or how or who I play, you'll know that you've played me.
Try my Sinister Six 400 pt team.........I dare you to win!
I'm just saying that just because a team is competitive doesn't mean it can't be fun.
