CJF gets the LE Thor. (so there is that point)
Elemental is going to be reused (Like the CBA, Purifiers, and Gnomes) They just be spread'n the love.
Defense values are more in line with the factions they play for, Stormhammers have serious low defense issues, but insane attack and damage values.
The only unit out of Falcon's Prey that we have seen fully is the Gyrfalcon, which exhibts CJF traits or at least some of their traits, high dmg, high attack, high speed.
I'm looking forward to seeing what I don't so far. Spiders and Panthers have me exceptionally interested.
Well, Elementals in the Republic forces seems to make sense to me. Afterall, some members of the Clans did join the inner sphere. Now if we could only get some RotS uniques piloted by former members of the clans we haven't had made into factions yet. Now the Highlanders getting Elementals is another story...
Perhaps the Steel Wolves not getting any new units is to show that they are getting their tails kicked by the Falcons. Maybe their supply lines have been cut off, so they can't get a hold of new equipment.
Oh, and the fact that Anastasia Wolf (Doesn't deserve the Kerensky name) is the worst leader ever :p
"Now the Highlanders getting Elementals is another story..."
-the Highlanders took a ton of salvaged Clan Mechs from their attack on Huntres and probably a lot of bondsmen too. There are tons of references to people in the Republic laying claim to Elemental blood, and several groups in the InnerShpere have the tech to make Clan gear (Wolf's Dragoons, Kell Hound/Wolves in Exile, the Crusader Wolf enclaves, the Nova Cats, CLAN SEA FOX..$...).
There is a short story at the begining of the CBT MiniRules book that mentions that individual Clan Sea Fox warriors wander the Inner Sphere severving as 'bounty hunters' (they won't quite go so far as to be fullblown sellsword Mercs). Certainly would lend credence to the rumor of no formations for Sea Fox.

While there are lots of other characters from the books who appear as MW pieces, one must assumed that the various faction leaders are too powerful, or too important, or too something to appear as battlefield units. The only possible exception is Kal Raddick and he came to a nasty end in the fiction either right before or right after he was a marquee prize.
Geoff
Geof,
Are you serious? You mean there really is a Tara Campbell/HL unit? What expansion did it came out? Man, I thought Rotem Fridberg is already the last in my list to complete HL.

You're reading it wrong. There is no Tara Campbell, at least not yet.
Kal Radick is the only faction leader to get a Mech so far.
I highly doubt we'll see Daoshen Liao in a Mech, or Jacob Bannson. Anastasia Karensky, Katana Tormark, Aaron Sandoval, Tara Campbell, Kev Rosse, Jasek Kelswa-Steiner and whoever leads the CJF on the other hand are easily possible for Mechs.
Keep in mind that WK has stated that no faction leaders will appear as MWDA pieces until they are dead (or about to die) in the fiction. Don't hold your breath for any of those pieces, at least not until you read a book that contains a guaranteed account of their definite demise.
As a side note, Aside from Daoshen Liao and Jacob Bannson, all the faction leaders are mechwarriors who do, at least time to time, personally lead their troops in combat. While we do not know yet (to my knowledge) who is the current Khan of Clan Jade Falcon it is safe to assume that that individual has seen combat (it would be nearly impossible to become Khan without a very good combat record) and would be personally active in any battle they are present for because to not fight is a sign of cowardice, incompetence, and the lack of appropriate leadership skills according to Clan custom. I have heard some say (though I cannot confirm) that Jacob Bannson is qualified to pilot battlemechs and even pilots one or more as a hobby, but I cannot confirm that. Even is he is capable of piloting a mech (something I can believe he would see as a worthy skill to learn) he would be extremely unlikely to actually risk his own life in combat when he could either send somebody else to do so (what he pays OEJ and company for) or, even more preferable to him, deceive, lie, intimidate, or otherwise manipulate people and situations to get what he wants without having to spend money on ammo and hazard pay for his soldiers (plus combat is never an absolutely sure thing, if his men lose then that would not be a likeable outcome). If Bannson were to get into a battlemech and fight, he would only do so as a last resort because all other options were unsuccessful.
Just for a clarification, Jacob Bannson is a qualified Mechwarrior, but I'm not sure how much experience he has in a cockpit. I think the only way we will see a Jacob Bannson figure is if the Bannson's Raiders are absorbed into House Liao upon his marriage to one of Daoshen Liao's cousins (I think).

Well, we all know how good WK is at keeping their word. Remember how they at first promised that all our pieces would be good forever, too. And look at what is happening on that front. (although I have yet to find where I read that and I know I was not in Atlanta when it was initially spoken - but I read it somewhere - it was part of the reason I got into the game in the first place) Obviously their word can change over the years.
I would like to see a special subset of faction leader Mechs. Maybe some kind of special mail-away gift pack or something. They would have to be, not easy to get, but easier than some LE type figures. I think it would generate a lot of excitement in the fluff part of the game.
Has anyone heard anything about a mech being offered with the Mech Assault 2 game for XBox (?)? I have seen that mentioned throughout the threads but have not heard anything official. If there is one, I bet it will be an LE for the Jade Falcons; maybe a Turkina or Thor or Loki (drool drool).
1.) We knew factions were going to be left out. I just didn't know it would be two this time. Go complain on another thread. DF, SC, SS, & SH will be joinning that thread soon. Listening to Warfail, HL has been getting hosed, so we'll leave them in. :)
2.) Faction leaders would be so cool. Have them on big bases like Sinstro or Galaticus. Leaders with they're bodyguards. Bannson in a Liao Atlas with 2 HellStars & 2 Longbows. Very many points! Virtually unplayable but so very cool.
3.) VTOL infantry? OMG! As long as they don't have VTOL in the name. (Move and shoot infantry...)
Flamer Squad? Halftrack? Gun Emplacement? MW:DA or WW1?
Come on WK. You can do better. Why not reuse Peasants and Standard Foot? CJF, Liao, SH, & RotS need them.
At least DF don't have any Elite infantry. Maybe I'll get a good number of figs this time.
4.) Reuse the J-37. SC needs a Cap3, Rots& Liao needs Repair and CJF needs both.
I think it'd be funny if Jacob Bannson was a 1-point unique infantry with, say, two clicks of life, an 11 defense, and 0 damage. Heck, give him SU Bypass. Imagine ol' Jake running around the battlefield, trying to grab himself a 'Mech to flee his new wife. :classic:

Don't you mean a vtol symbol next to their movement, they don't need to have vtol in the name but yes vtol infantry(or so I've heard). The fastest I heard they go was 14" so they could move 2" and shoot. Chances are that they wouldn't have a range over 10" so that would only be an effective 12" range maybe. Also they would be able to be targeted by AA guns and since no infantry has a defense over 19 against ranged combat, I can't see them having a defense over 18 (19 at cruising). Also, they would be destroyed after a sucessful capture attempt.
Peasants? I do believe that they are one of the reasons for set retirement, they make base screens too cheap and viable. Didn't you notice that the combat engineers were basically peasants with the SE's to make them twice as expensive?

You've all got it wrong...he was being sarcastic. He was simply pointing out that Tara Campbell wasn't in the list of "faction leaders" that still "need to be made into Uniques." (Grammatically, with the exclusion of Tara Campbell in that list meant that she was already made into a unit.)
