The best anyone has is 4 out of five. A hint about one of them-- the largest team is not a team in the traditional sense (of course, some of the answers weren't either)-- and it's far larger than any of the teams mentioned.
Suicide Squad, Outsiders, Checkmate, JSA, and Green Lantern Corps.
I hadn't thought of that, the GL Corps is quite large, 3600 sectors and now with two GL's per sector and a few with more then two per... that is a lot of members.

I disqualify Jade from ever having been a member of the GLC solely through her association with Kyle Rayner. That's just me though. : )
And I still feel JLA was an acceptable answer, given the terms of the question.
</pedantic nitpicking>

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

I liked the format of my last question, so I will try it again.
Pre-crisis
There was a villain who was displaced from the 1800's. He mainly fought a hero who had another nemesis who was displaced from another dimension and stole his powers and eventually started stealing his identity, turning into a strange version of the hero. The hero also regularly encountered another villain who was a strange version of the hero, that strange version eventually making more copies and populating a whole planet with them. Yet another of the hero's foes had a planet where he was hailed as a hero.
