Yeah, no argument there. Figure replacement would be good to have, preferably in time for the fist set with removable/loseable-on-the-factory-level parts.
Oh, it'll all be good.
If your Captain American is missing his shield, Red Skull doesn't have a weapon, or Thor has no Hammer, some of the good (ugh, Wizkids can do no wrong) posters here will gladly send you one of their pieces to complete your figure. Kidding.
Or maybe you can buy a comic book and take a pair of scissors and cut out a tiny drawing of a sheild, gun, or hammer and just slide it in the figure's hand or stick it in it's base like the good old Mage Knight days.
Let me find the strength to cut back on this game!
1) There is no evidence that Wizkids decision to pull standard figures from Super Boosters was due to HCRealms nerd rage. These decisions had to have been made weeks before they announced it to us or they wouldn't have had time to make the packaging adjustments before the product shipped.
2) There is no evidence that Famine was ever going to be included in GSX boosters. There is no reason to think that she wasn't constructed purely for convention prize support.
"I heard this stuff from this guy" so take it with a grain of salt:
The duos were initially going to be in the Super Boosters.
There were initially 6 different duos but that was cut back to 4. Speculation on my part would hold this true. Having 2 more duos would have put the set total at 60 pieces which seems more normal and consistent with thier initial releases (67 pieces total if you add in BBTB and Collosals).
There was initial info on "full team in a Super Booster". I'm thinking that's where these figures were maybe supposed to be at. Logistically, WK had some issues/concerns with cherry-picking. I mean, let's be honest if a super booster was supposed to have Apoc -or- the 4 Horsemen, don't you think it would be pretty easy to figure out which one did NOT have a collosal?
However, the pic shows this figure as being #203. That's where I'm stuck. If it was supposed to be a part of the set, it should have not been a 200 #. If it was supposed to be a chase, it should not have been a 200#. Though there is no set in stone way for NECA to number figures, if you look at all of the sets that have had chases, you were usually looking at a collector # that was:
: #99 & 100 (HOT, AA, SI)
: in with the LE figures numbering (SN, Org, Crisis)
: right after the last regular set SR (WoS, B&B)
: had thier own numbering (DC75)
These figures just don't hold to any previous pattern... which makes me think maybe they were produced as a con exclusive from the off set.
Dunno... but I still want them and am now looking for reasons to explain to my wife why I HAVE to go to Origins (and hoping I can find a place to crash... ).
And really, if you're quitting the game or boycotting future sets over this, you were on the fence already anyway. Given the past history of con exclusives that they DIDN'T announce would be available later (but instead mis-labeled them "con exclusive" :P), there's no sense in thinking these figures won't be easily available later; in fact, all the evidence is to the contrary.
I'll be the first to admit I had forgotten about Mighty Thor, Dark Knight and Johnny Thunder when I put up my original posts. That said, I had acquired all of those figures before they were widely available, and that's likely why I forgot.
I'm not one that cares about the "value" of the figures. I'd rather them be widely available to all who'd like to build and run a team with them. Then again I've NEVER cared much for the "collectible" aspect of this game. I just want to be able to play my favorite teams and don't want to have to pay collector's prices to do it.

True enough, and yet for all the grousing and knee-jerks you've had over the years, how much have you actually failed to get in terms of what you really wanted? Hmm?

Nekron, Throg, the Marvel Zombies outside of Wolverine, the Origin Chases outside of Alfred, and others. Heck, I still don't have an Annihilation Conquest Ultron.
Just because I don't bother complaining about them doesn't mean I'm not irked that I'll never have them in my collection.

You're right. I've been too negative. Here's a positive spin...
I think she's awesome. I would have really like to have had a chance to get her within the life span of the GSX set. Fortunately, for those needing to buy her on the secondary market, there will be at least one less person trying to get her.
Enjoy it guys.

I am also not planning on obtaining this figure, I for one, am not too familiar with the four horsemen of Apocalyspe Marvel Mythos.

News at 11, non-fans can't see what the fuss is all about! Next up, sports.
PS - I actually really want them but support WK's right to do what they want with their own product 100%. "I don't care so why are you complaining?' logic annoys me though.
Without addressing whether this is an attempt to "screw folk over", I do have to ask the complainers-about-complainers; can you really think of no reason people would be upset by this?
Permit me the luxury of an analogy; I go to a fine Italian restraunt, where I expect (and receive!) an excellent meal. I start with a lovely antipasto, then move on to a rich pasta primo, then a beef secundo with verdura then, finally, a lovely triamisu and digestif. Then, while enjoying your espresso, the waiter brings out a small silver dish of Parmesan cheese. For the pasta. The pasta you ate an hour ago.
It's not that the cheese isn't lovely, it's just that you wanted it at one point in the meal, and that point has come and gone.
Now, no doubt the "optimists" will say that this is not the same, that getting an addition tied into GSX a year after GSX was released is fine. Maybe it is, to you. Maybe, to expand, you would be thrilled if the rest of this week was devoted to releasing print and play elements for Brave and the Bold, say. I'm certain there are people who would love some more BnB stuff...
But, I would hazard a guess that people at the moment would like to get stuff related to GSX. And, a year from now, people mayhaps would like to get figures connected to the set out at that time.
If it makes it easier to marginalize my comments as "complining about complainers", be my guest. All I see are folk leaping to conclusions and posting subjective speculations as potential fact with very, very little basis.
Enjoy your meal buddy, I'm loving mine.
Well, that certainly defused my point. In the sense that it addressed none of it, that is.
What, pray tell, is the "leaping to conclusions and posting subjective speculations as potential fact with very, very little basis" that pertains to what I was talking about? The facts as we know them can be encapsulated with;
"Origins is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize but don’t worry this figure will also be available at GenCon. For those not attending the conventions, another way to get this figure will be announced by the end of the year."
Now, technically, the information about "another way to get this figure" could be released tomorrow; that is, after all, "by the end of the year". That said, it would be a rather odd way to phrase things, as it, at first glance, appears to indicate that the earliest time someone could reasonably expect to receive this figure (if they are not willing/able to attend a con/utilize the secondary market) is the end of the year.
Do you disagree? Do you, from the available information or other, not generally available information, believe this figure will be made available significantly earlier then that?
As an aside, to say "Enjoy your meal buddy, I'm loving mine", when you a) have a reasonable expectation of receiving this piece, or b) have little interest in it, doesn't really do much for people that a) have no reasonable chance of receiving this piece and b) have interest in it.
It's a bit like walking out of that restaurant and asking the threadbare urchin on the street "how did you like that dinner?"
Why so cruel dear Muncho? So very cruel...

I take it you don't have pieces from prior sets in your "wants" on a trade thread?
I don't, but that does bring up a real question: how many people honestly think that, assuming, arguendo, this piece will be available generally in say, November, that you would put any real effort into getting it?
I must be honest; this particular piece is on that I would be interested in now, as I am running teams in floor with other Horsemen, or simply because Apocalypse is a big theme in GSX. In a few months?
Then it's just cheese with my coffee...
tl:dr? If I could get this thing right now, I would be interested. In 6 months? I don't care, because I can recognize that it won't be useful to me then.
Well I'm mad for 2 reasons: 1) If some of the people on HCRealms didn't complain about standard figures in the Super Boosters (which I was fine with, as long as there was unique content) hadn't complained so much, these 3 figures would have been in the set (as they should have been, especially with an ATA requiring their inclusion to be useful) and 2) They removed these for convention prize support when it would have made more sense to remove the X-Duo figures since they're more recognizable, and are more or less reprints anyway.
1) Pretty sure the figs were removed because of issues with the packaging, not because people were complaining on the realms. Also, the ATA is still useful without the existence of these 3 exclusive pieces, as the other Horsemen are in the set. Wolvie, Hulk, Archangel, and Caliban all use it.
2)You complain because you want these guys more than the 'useless' duos. Frankly, the dials on the duos are every bit as potent as this, the only Horseman dial we've seen. You're not only complaining before you have all the evidence, but you're exaggerating. Also, your argument is totally wrong, and only self serving. You wish the Horsemen had been in the set, and Duos con exclusives, but that's only because you want the Horsemen personally. That would actually make it harder for collectors. Yes, the Horsemen are previously unmade characters, but they're virtually obscure characters with maybe a handful of appearances. That means they'll be very cheap on the secondary market. You want to see prices explode? Then make Cable/Deadpool a con exclusive. Fans, players, collectors, casual market, they'd make the value of the piece skyrocket, and THEN we'd all be fighting for it.
As always, we're complaining because we can't easily have everything, like a bunch of spoiled kids.
Can't get to the cons? Save some money and buy the fig secondary market. Sorry that Wizkids thought it would be nice to give something different to people who shell out hundreds of dollars to come see them at the conventions (which, btw, is a major part of them making presentations to garner investment interest and get further financial backing to make future sets)
If you don't like the price of the piece when its new and hot... just wait, it'll go down. It'll be there tomorrow, too.
And if, worst case scenario, it never went down to a price you were willing to pay... just say 'oh well', cuz its still just a piece of damned plastic, and why is that worth complaining about at all? Don't you have enough other pieces to play without getting jealous of what someone else has?
