I am not even a fan of the Hulk, never cared for the character, but I feel your pain for a Defenders Hulk. He has to be in this set, otherwise be a ridiculous oversight.
With the TA, yes. But for theme, the E and V from Mutant Mayhem have the keyword.
I know that, but the Mutant Mayhem ones are weak sauce, and I want the TA dammit! I've been reading the Essential Defenders and I'm now half way through volume four. I also own the last few Defenders series. I'm 99% sure that the Hulk has been a member for more issues than any other character (except maybe Dr. Strange, although I'd have to do an actual count to be certain).

I hear ya. Though, yeah Doc Strange is the longest one, particularly if you include the "Secret Defenders" title in the 90s. But I'd be happy if there's just an easy-to-get Hulk with at least the keyword in this set.

I just went to Comicvine and did a count. Surprisingly, neither Hulk not Strange had the most appearances in the Defenders.....the top member is Valkyrie. By quite a bit too. Amazing considering she didn't even appear in Secret Defenders. Here is what I got:
Mind you this is only counting appearances in Defenders titles, so not guest appearances in other books. Usually it's the big 4 in other books, which would boost the Surfer's low score (can't believe Gargoyle had more than him!)
But yeah, Hulk beats Strange by ONE appearance! Didn't surprise me much, since I just read a long stint where Strange wasn't on the team but Hulk was, and Nighthawk was leading it.

Out of interest sake I also checked Hulk's appearances in the Avengers titles. I got 63, but a lot of those would be where the Avengers are fighting Hulk rather than when he was an actual member.

Seriously this is getting beyond a joke. It's rare that FF versions have TA's and even rarer that they are at a decent power level, so I doubt that versions will be a good Defenders Hulk.
*Looks at Superman Fast Forces* Can't agree with that statement, sorry.
*Looks at Watchmen Fast Forces* Not at all, actually.
Sure, there weren't many TAs in the Thor or GL Fast Forces, but there really didn't need to be either.

This includes all their appearances as Defenders including Secret Defenders and the Order? Huh. Would have thought Strange would be the longest one, at least with the founders. Val I can see as the most numerous (though does this include when she was replaced by Samantha Parrington and Barbara Norriss or only as Brunnhilde?)
I am under the impression there is a committee that builds a set.
I mean there are some creative, amazing, brilliant dials. And then there is clearly the "intern-level" that opens an existing dial and tweaks.
Yeah I figure it is a committee as well, and what happens is you get somebody that gets a character that they don't know/like/love and its gonna look very different than if they did.
I'd like to be able to do 3-5 dials a set, that would be sweet.

That's not to say some decent but not stellar Hulks mean you should skip the whole set. There's some good fun to be had here. It's just not EXCITING yet until we see all the Hulks.
I'm starting to feel the Worldbreaker Hulk will be in GG. Because he's from space. That'll be a little sad.
Superman is a flying HSS character, Hulk is a grounded non-HSS character : to balance that you need to shoehorn in some special power/traits and it could be hard to balance depending on how you deal with his regeneration abilities.
I'm not a hulk fan so my hopes for this set were low and are still riding on Black Bolt and whatever Hulks are still unrevealed.

Does this special power activate each time Hulk is targeted with a ranged attack including the first time?
So that would mean that even for the first ranged attack, the instant that first attack is declared and before it is even rolled, Hulk gets a +1 Defense against that first attack? That ain't bad. He'd essentially start with an 18D from range.
EDIT: DUH. It's not Defense that gets a bonus. Silly me, thinking something would help the Hulk survive attacks long enough to use the bonus.

Except it's attack and damage from what I can read in the first post. Unfortunately when you count the bonus won't come into play very often at all.

It's not Defense that get's a boost, it's Attack and Damage
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........

Well, Val was the only one of the "Big Names" who was also a member during the New Defenders era. That had to boost her numbers quite a bit.
