PRAISE FOR CHARLEY’S WAR
“Timelessly relevant and well-researched, this is a comics classic.” Publishers Weekly
“One of the finest, most fondly remembered British comic strips ever.” Uncut
“What I suspected as a kid I now know to be true. Charley’s War is simply the greatest British comic strip ever created.” Andrew Harrison, WORD Magazine
“Moving and beautifully illustrated, Mills' horrific vision of the western front will enflame the enthusiasm of a new generation. An exciting starting point from which to build a wider understanding of the First World War.” Dan Snow, BBC 2’s Battlefield Britain
“None [have come] even close to matching the depiction of inhumanity and misery conjured up by Pat Mills and Joe Colquhoun’s masterful Charley’s War.”
Alan Moore, V For Vendetta / Watchmen / League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
“One of the most emotionally affecting comic strips ever published.”
Dave Gibbons, The Originals / Watchmen

Loaded
“The most moving record on a human scale of the First World War in English language comics.”
Paul Gravett, Comics International
“The beautiful artwork of Joe Colquhoun and the sheer genius of Pat Mills at his very, very best. The best comic strip you’ll ever read.”
Garth Ennis, Preacher / War Stories
“While other strips featured in Battle, Warlord and their ilk tended to glory in war (“Actung! Ze Englander is single-handedly destroying our tank fleet”), Charley’s War didn’t flinch from showing the harsh realities of the First World War, and the Battle of the Somme.”
The Crack
“Charley’s War puts most modern comic books to shame.”
The List
“A beautiful collection of strips that show the horrors and stupidity of war in all their twisted glory.”
Sci-Fi Online
“It’s easy to forget this is a comic aimed at young boys. That it portrays any horror at all is a bonus. That it’s downright anti-war makes it essential reading.”
Grovel.org
“Britain’s Golden Age of comics is getting its own revival.”
Rich Johnston, Lying in the Gutters
“Charley’s War is absolutely remarkable.”
Leeds Guide
Brian, have you thought about going to the AWA tonight or tommorrow?
I have to work tonight, in 15 minutes, and I'll be done around 11. I'm down for whatever tommorow night. Now that I think about it, putting the fear of God in some Anime kids might be fun...
If you can get gas... The Gov just asked all the schools state wide to cancel class on Mon and Tues to conserve fuel.
Of course this being atlanta everyone is going to freak out and assume there is no more gas on the planet.
I was lucky to get mine 2 days ago. I filled up then and it only costed $2.69 for the midgrade. I cannot believe that I said I was lucky for paying that much. I'm going to buy a bike and a marta card.
Umm, it's still $2.69. Why it spiked .15 yesterday, I'll never know. People are stupid and they create this panic with everyone acting irrational. The Hurricane didn't even do much at all.
Why hasn't gas gone back down to what it was before Katrina hit?
It was $2.59 here, she hits, oil prices go up, gas goes up to $3.09.
About a week after she hits, oil drops back down to what it was before she hit, and gas is only down to $2.74. Shouldn't it be back to $2.59 (at least) or are they just doing this because people are "used to" paying this much for it now, so just keep it a little higher. I mean, if no one complains, it's not gonna change, right?

Well, refinement cost will probably continue to perpetually increase because refineries are increasingly becoming amalgamations of technology from the 70s that has modern technology foreceably attached to it. Between the incredibly high cost of maintaining the older infrastructure and the near insane amounts of research dollars that go into searching for more oil sources and better ways to obtain and refine said oil, that is going to take up a large part of increases at the gas pump. The doesn't even factor in extra charges they add to keep their margins high when you factor in taxes, shipping costs, money spent to keep plants or products within government regulations, money spent to bribe government officials, money spent to lure people away from researching alternative fuel sources, money to fight lawsuits, money to file injunctions against companies and individuals seeking to market or research alternative fuels or alternative fuel producing facicilites.
Eh, anyways, for those that need to know;
