i just found this program and love it. what do i have to do to make a map and add it to the file. and where can i download maps?

Maps CAN be added, but your opponent has to have the map file too. The easiest thing to do is to give ME the map and I can add it to the distribution. That way, everybody gets it. But I have certain standards for playability (map should be easy to understand and color borders well evident).

The do-it-yourself way: make a 696x696 pixel map of 24 by 24 squares (or less than 24 on at most two sides). Make it a JPG or PNG image. Put it in the maps folder, then go into the maps.lst file in that folder and add to the list:

That's all. An opponent must have this done too. Note: if you ever re-download the software, it will overwrite this.

Hey!!! Need help learning Heroclix so I downloaded the online game.. Need help!!

im learning the game myself, the way im doing it is play with a friend and use no powers first game. this way you you understand combat.
next make a 100 point team and lean the powers using those guys. now start playing 300 point games im still learning all the powers and its hard to create teams till i learn all the powers efficiantly. ive only played 4 games (i can only play on saterdays) but we are starting to get knowledge of our figures

hay is there a place i can go to meet online players, i have the app and need peaple to play against.

If you have a PC, I would suggest downloading Hamachi and joining the latest rooms for HC players (I think the latest room is "HeroclixHangout7" with password "12345").

Ok, but how do I communicate and start a game?

First you have to find someone to play with. It can be someone you know on the Internet, or that you have a way to send messages to in real-time (like on MSN, AIM, or whatever). Hamachi is a good tool for meeting strangers to play.

Once you have found someone to play with and you are both ready to play and have your teams ready, in the HCOL program you go to View/Battlefield (you should see your team on the field), and then Multiplayer/Host Game or Multiplayer/ Join Game. One player has to be the "host". The host tells the other players their IP address (or VPN address for Hamachi users), and then hosts the game on a chosen port (the default is 4444). Then the other player chooses Join Game, types in the host's IP address in the window that appears, and joins on in!

I'm the last of the mohicans when it comes to heroclix players in our town. The local game store shut down and I'm jones-ing bad for a clix game. Can I make a general appeal to any folks with the capability to produce scans of any of the many official maps that aren't yet on HCOL? Stuff like the Rainbow Bridge, the Graveyard... anything that hasn't been digitally available.

The only way is to bring an extra Knight for each Pawn and just put those away in the newspaper KO pile until needed. You can bring them back into the game using the drop-down menu under the text window.
