Just curious, how many sanctioned/tourney games have you played in since PnP was announced? Or are you just hating it for the fun of it?
Ba-ZING!

Yep, I'm in the same boat. Someone hit edgreen86 with some Rep for us?
Thanks!

And done and done!

You can change every other word I say to pie for all I care, it doesn't make a difference. Figures and cards ARE different. They are both elements within the game, sure, but from my perspective, feats are conceptual, whereas the dial with its turning mechanism is fundamental to the functioning of the game [the physical mechanics of it].
And, also for the record, go nuts and Proxy out some dials if you wanna. If you have the technology to make them work within a dial. The problem is that it's a million times easier to bung up and make illegible and inaccurate a full dial rather than one line of text. [Wizkids did it all the time themselves]. You'd have to be a prize meathead to screw up self-making a Feat. Logistically, proxy figures are a bad idea.
Feat CARDS are aesthetic. Dials are not. You won't agree and that's fine, but you're wrong.
First of all working in technicalities is a bad way to make a point, as opinions rarely change when shown technicalities.
Second, there are only two real reasons I can see why people don't like print and play.
1. They're afraid that the local tourney scene will be completely swamped with min/maxers and war-bounds, protecteds, and FF ATA. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I can understand apprehension over these (admittedly over-powered) feats being available to everyone who can abuse them for cutthroat play. IN my view everyone who actually DOES cutthroat play already has access to all the most abusive cards. This is actually a way of BALANCING the field by making feats widely available to everyone. It also makes it easier for new people to jump into the game.
2. Is the collector's value going down. It's a CMG. Collectible, as they tend to remind us, is the key word. What I don't get about the guy with a binder full of warbounds whining is that it is the innate nature of the collectible game is that new developments make older parts of the game worth less and obsolete.
If you hate feats, this is a good thing. You can now be competitive whenever you want without shelling out tons of money for cardboard.
If you love feats this is still a good thing. Wizkids has no limit to how many feat cards that can be released per set, and can create new ones even during the lull between sets. And IF the secondary market value went down, it will now cost you less to get those feats you were pining after anyway.
Because I hate the Print & Play for sanctioned and tournament play, I just got on eBay to support free market capitalism, and I spent over $100.00 on a ton of Feats, BFCs, Bystander Tokens, and Object Tokens that I didn't have original copies of yet.
For Marvel, I'm only missing the Warbound Feat. I have all Marvel Objects now. I'm still missing about 3 Marvel BFCs, which I'll get in the next week. I also now have all Marvel Bystander Tokens.
I have a huge amount of DC and Indy Feats, BFCs, and Objects. I'll be completing that collection next month, even if I have to spend $200.00 to do so.
I really don't mind print and play for non-sanctioned, non-tourney play, but I despise it for any sanctioned / tourney play, so I'll put my money where my mouth is.
That's... ummm... interesting? Way to stick it to the man by spending a bunch of money you didn't need to spend. Don't get me wrong. It's your money and you can do with it what you choose but I'm not quite sure of the point you're trying to make. If you wanted to have actual WK copies of feats, I can understand that, but you mentioned that you specifically didn't wait for the price to drop. So you wanted to spend as much money as possible?
Feat CARDS are aesthetic. Dials are not. You won't agree and that's fine, but you're wrong.
The primary value of Feats lies in their practical application, not their appearance. Nobody is going to use a Feat card which lacks practical value just because it has a pretty picture.

You are entirely wrong with this statement.

I wasn't capitalizing the "cards" part cause I had a muscle twitch.
I am fine with Print and Play at the casual level -- most people are doing this already.
But as a collector and gamer, I find it rather insulting that it's being allowed at the tournament level. And I'm especially miffed that it was retroactive.

3. Quality of product. The cheap print out imitation vs actual production item. Disposable proxys do not convey the same profesionalism as an official WizKids produced Feat or BFC. Lamination and card sleeves do not compensate for the sturdy gloss paper with the Heroclix set logo on the back.
4. Lack of availibility WizKids has not given us actual production runs of the HoT Feats and BFCs. Sure they are availible for download, but some of us want the real deal.
These are other factors why some of us dislike P&P, and frankly are the only 2 reasons that apply to me.
