My theory is still that Bencrawler started this downward freaking spiral that has left clix as a wannabe World Series of Poker game with super hero figures.
Ridiculously undercosted and rules breaking elements begat silver bullets begat more rules warping begat Power creep to the 10th degree, and the only ones who fully embrace the game anymore are the small minority of metagamers who went for that sorta crap in the first place.
'cuz you know, making an errata to the figure in the first place would have been so hard.

Heh. Funny story, when I first met Ben, I greeted him with a big smile and a hearty handshake. I told him it was great to meet him and asked how it felt to be the guy who ruined Heroclix. I laughed immediately and let him know I was kidding but I figured he hadn't heard that enough by then.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.

An early symptom of an illness isn't necessarily the cause of the illness.

The first time I met Ben was in a battle royal in which he coached his friend the entire time, effectively playing two teams. They didn't make a single attack against each other until the other player was eliminated, and I only had one piece left that couldn't damage them.
And yet I keep on defending him because people do crazy things like accuse him of single-handedly ruining HeroClix. It grates on me, but it only seems fair to call people on their bs regardless of who the target is.

Gavrilo Princip didn't do all the damage inflicted in WW1, but he was the guy who nudged the whole system over the tipping point. No one claimed that Ben did all the actions himself in the entire system, but one could argue that the pattern took shape from his initial action.
Then again, we had a good year and a half from after WoS through Galactic Guardians that was pretty awesome Heroclix, in my opinion. Somebody decided to introduce some major changes to the game, for whatever reason.

Yes, they did.
Did you read the "Ben Cheung's book" thread?
That kind of stupidity is what I was talking about.
