My impression of the Halloween event thus far is that it hits the Pokémon sweet spot - a perfect balance of, "Aww, so cute!" and "Gods, what in the hell is THAT?!?"

Niantic always has a successful Halloween event...

2x candies
new characters
new shinies (though the odds I feel are not that good compared to other events)
new raids
Good Halloween field research tasks
A mini quest that is obtainable though a bit of a grind
being able to see those ghost and dark type pokemon that we don't normally see often


When compared to other events I feel like they miss out of a number of things on the list.
1. They need to start saving some or one new character(s) for each event
2. Offer raids that people are interested in
3. Better prizes for field research or increase the odds of a shiny when completing a field research.

AND most importantly

4. A mini quest


There will be another post after this about my thoughts on these mini quests. Once I gather my thoughts.

Hatched a 96% IV, Shiny Lapras the other day!

Dang it. I've got the three Excellent throws in a row quest and I'm half tempted to try it for the Golett.

Oh, that is the research reward for that? I'm half tempted myself

Managed two in a row twice and then trashed it because I legitimately do not need that level of frustration from little monsters on my phone.

I seriously must have a stack of about two dozen unclaimed Sableye research encounters...

When I first pulled up this thread, it brought me to a post from Hail Eris that was made MONTHS ago during another double candy event. I replied to it as the page told me that it was the most recent post and I didn't even look at the date/time stamp. I posted something about what the current double candy event was and then I realized I wasn't even replying to something current.

Not particularly tempted to pay real Money for a chance at Regigigas.

I'm heavily considering it. It's the other rewards that are tempting me

The price is not THAT bad and most people would probably be able to afford it. The smartest move Niantic made was that the only thing exclusive from the event is just a medal. At some point soon we will get Regigigas and the Unova stone. This is just early access.

I think that the wife and I would talk over whether it would be worth it or not. Thankfully there is nothing to talk about this time because there is no way we could do it next Saturday.

The increase spawning of Aron, Swinub, MAgnemite, and Geodude (assumption Skarmory?) appeals to us because we don't have any of those shiny forms. Plus the 2x incubator effectiveness we enjoy too.

Found a Litwick today that turned out to have 0/0/0 IVs. Never seen that Before.
I also got a 15/15/14 Weedle, so I am really at both ends of the bell curve.

I pulled the trigger and called it a birthday present to myself since the 2nd is my birthday

Jonna plans on doing it too, but for whatever reason hasn't actually purchased the pass yet.
