Phoenix BC will probably be a prime colossal in the X animated set.

The first CUR Namor since Galactic Guardians a little over 7 years ago. If you want to argue that the AvX starter Namor should count as an "easy-to-get" figure then that's still going on 6 years.

He's also got all the keywords, so that's nice.

And the Power Gem is an upgrade from the orginal.
Whereas before the equipped character got either RCE or CCE based upon their range value, now you get whichever you want at the time, a general +1 boost to damage, and a +1 penetrating damage kicker on a 10+ hit.

Starbrand as a non-equipment chase figure.

Will people complain if they pull him? Absolutely.
Some will want him, of course, and his "Before Interstellar Travel" trait will no doubt come in very handy at times, but he doesn't have equipment, and for a lot of players the equipment is more important than the figure itself.

It does make me wonder if there might not be a new Starbrand in the set, though.
Whoever the current wielder is.

No interest myself. Don't care about any of the B.C. Avengers.


The rare generic might not be so bad.
His trait could come in very handy for a team depending upon what other AIM figures we get in the set.

Enhancement, empower, leadership, and support to the benefit of any friendly within 3 squares could be quite useful, and this figure offers at least one and sometimes two of those depending upon his click.

But Black Panther B.C. is almost guaranteed, isn't he?

Hoping Starbrand B.C.'s trait means a new Starbrand (and Nightmask?) somewhere in the CUR.

Would be nice. While the chase can be run with the New Universe Starbrand at under 300 points (Connell's 150), the 616 counterpart on the Avengers is 3 points too expensive.

Granted, I love running Ken Connell, but that's beside the point.

In my opinion chase are:
ironman and captain america with gauntlet
Kobik and another piece with cosmic cube
Phoenix 1000000 bc with phoenix force
Starbrand
And ultrachase is black panter(the set has his name,so it makes sense)

I'm still holding out hope that the equipment isn't tied to any specific figure, given the way the traits are worded.

That Namor has a low defense, but otherwise I like him. Glad he's got Invaders this time, and I'm overall glad they made Cabal its own keyword instead of lumping it in with Illuminati.

Annoying that we got basically that Thanos in Secret Wars, but he didn't get the keyword.

Kinda feels like the Power Gem does one or two too many things for 10 points. That thing's wild.

If X-men Animated is anything like the last oversized-booster set, nearly all of the colossal sculpts will repeat across rarities, so there's probably Phoenix, Dark Phoenix, and Phoenix BC spread across two rarities, one of them being a prime (since we know from the solicit they're adding prime colossals into the mix). Plus it would keep the X-men character separated as they have been for several years (hopefully that can stop some time soon now that the Fox deal is done but I'm not expecting that for another year or so).

You would think that in a set where Black Panther shares the headline and where BC Avengers is a thing that Black Panther BC would be there.

I already guessed that there might be a Starbrand in the set based upon the chase, so no argument there.

What does Nightmask have going on that would make his inclusion something to be considered more strongly than any other random character, though?

Jonathan Hickman created the Kevin Connor Starbrand, who I think is the most likely candidate for a character that the chase's trait could work off of.
Connor was paired with Adam Blackveil (Nightmask) in Starbrand and Nightmask as part of All-New, All-Different Marvel right after Battleworld concluded.

The two might work off each other like the Super Sons from Rebirth, or chase Starbrand could be played with the newest bearer of the brand.

I really hope Black Panther 1million is not an Ultra Chase since I wanna play the whole team, maybe against Dark Knights or Venom chases depending on point cost. Most likely Dark Knights.

Unlikely. The Ultra Chase is historically off-theme with the other chases, being more of a standalone (thank god) than anything that might go in a limited scoped set.

I've got a sour feeling in the pit of my stomach though regarding that Ultra chase......that would be a prime spot for the missing piece of the Battleworld set, the one the entire plotline was built around...........

Why would they do that to Molecule Man?

Skimmed the thread but do not see this answer, do we have any idea what figures will have the gems. I have seen several figures that say that at a cost a gem can be added, but with some saying a character can have this gem or that gem added, I do not think the ability to use the gem is a promise the gem will be with that character.
