They both put the art in art-rock. I have never seen Tool live so I don't know what Maynard does, I hear he just kind of stays in one place or stands toward the back. He apparently has a successful winery.
After going to all of those conventions have you ever played on a Chapman Stick?
2 more for the S let's make them two ends of the progressive spectrum
Subdivisions - Rush https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYYdQB0mkEU
IMO Neil Peart's masterpiece. His drumming is utterly amazing being able to switch seamlessly between time signatures without making the music sound pretentious (like Dream Theater). The lyrics he wrote are so clever playing on the different interpretations of the word subdivisions. I only wish that when I was a teenager I was able to understand the lyrics better because of how I could relate to the song back then.
Geddy Lee is a bass icon. One of the best and most popular in rock history. There's two things I can't stand about Rush songs - Geddy's singing and keyboards. I have Rush instrumentals on my playlist, and I wear them out. There other songs, I can only handle in small doses. This song, not something I really want to hear again. Not enough good stuff to overcome the vocals and the keyboards. I did endure the whole song, just for you Phant!

OK, I get it, you may not like the vocals, I didn't at first either. What I admire most about this song is the importance of a great drummer. During the pre-chorus when the drummer (Richard Christy) increases the tempo and makes the song seem so much faster and intense during the 1:00 - 1:20 mark. When I first heard this song my teenage mind was blown. Sadly I missed them on the tour supporting this album, which was their last tour ever.
Opening with the bass, you have my attention. The music was pretty good. Not a fan of the singing.
I think what I am most curious about is when using the same tackle whether you would get a better cast (distance) from a mini pole or a regular fishing pole.
Is the 4 hour drive for the best fishing spot or closest?
My friend has the Shakespeare Doc Runner, and used it last time we went fishing. It looked like fun, and the short pole made it easier to get a fish into the net to get it into the boat. I looked into it, and saw that Zebco made a purple one, so I had to get that. From my friend's experience, the drawbacks for the short pole are...it doesn't cast as far, and it's more difficult to set the hook. In general, a longer pole will give you a longer cast distance (like a trebuchet). Also, a longer pole will make it easier to set a hook, because when you pull on the pole, the tip of the pole will move farther (meaning more force will be applied because of the greater distance travelled).
I like to go to Ely (the 4 hour drive) because that's where my favorite place to fish is - Cave Lake. It's beautiful there, and the fishing is good. Comins Lake is right there, too. It's not even close to being as beautiful, but the fishing is better. Since Cave Lake is currenlty lowered to work on the dam, and because my friend I go fishing with prefers Comins, we're going to Comins.
In October I'll be going on an extended trip. I'll join my friends while they're deer hunting, and after they get their tags, we'll go to Wild Horse Reservoir to go fishing. That's almost 8 hours away, but the fishing there has been the best we've ever had. We get big fish, and we don't have trouble getting our limit.
I'm not sure if these pics will work, as they're on FB.

I just realized...purple is the last word I said. How did I have you at the last word I said?
Savia - Soen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VEFORk1wYA
Martin Lopez left Opeth and then came out with this band, Soen. People say they are like Tool. Well they are because Martin Lopez and Danny Carey are awesome drummers!!!!!! Sometimes I think Tool fans are upset about all of these bands that are "tool knockoffs" because they can put out an album every few years. This was Soen's first single.
Spiders and Flies - Dead Soul Tribe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRSMXvo1NSI
Tower Records was going out of business this band's album was on the Inside Out label. I was not disappointed. I know nothing else about this band, weird, huh?
Soen reminded me of Tool, especially the singing. I like it. I want to check more of their stuff out.
Spiders and Flies - good groove to start. I'm liking the intro. This song also has a Tool vibe to me. Also something I'm really digging. Ok, now I have to check out this band, too.

HA ha Ha ha. When I scroll down sometimes words catch my eye before I read a post.
More S songs!
Sentient 6 - Nevermore https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eXIeVij_hY
Great dystopian future/robot revenge song but it seems more like a glimpse of the first chapters before before $%^ hits the fan. The whole album (The Godless Endeavor) is a solid listen if you are into Metal.
Straight to Hell - Great Big Sea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QAFROsuiGc
Great Big Sea started out as a traditional/folk band in Canada adding in pop/rock elements WAY before Mumford and Sons were ever created. This is actually an original song from them but it is most like any traditional sea shanty they sing. Their concerts are great and are just a fun band all around.
Van Halen was always one of those bands that I never got into. I can definitely say that I never cared for David Lee Roth's vocals but as for the rest, they are very talented. It is probably burn out from only hearing the hit songs on the radio or MTV incessantly. Other bands like that are RHCP, Collective Soul, and Oasis. Once the hits stopped playing I started to enjoy those 3 bands more when I heard the songs. Just not Van Halen.

I had to look up RHCP. Of course I know the band, I just didn’t know they ever got referred to by their initials. I still remember the first tune I ever heard from them, True Men Don’t Kill Coyotes. Thought they were creatively all over the place and that I’d love them! Never happened.

The music was ok. The lyrics and the singing seemed overly dramatic for my taste. It reminded me of the dude making the puppet vampire musical in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Maybe it's just me today having a Monday, but I wasn't really into this, either. I thought the lead singer sounded like a muppet. The music sounded like country sea shanty to me. The music wasn't that bad.
Got to see BOC once and they rocked it hard even though it was a free show. They are one of those bands with an extensive catalog that I am not too familiar with. When I saw them live they played a song called Black Blade, got Cultasaurus Rex and was disappointed with the studio version. They were supposed to be known as the American version of Black Sabbath. I don't know if they felt like they hit that type of stardom but always an awesome live band.
