Ok, so it's been a very good Father's Day. Got some good swag and the boys and I have finally gotten work done on my long fabled Heroclix storage shelf.
In all, it's coming out better than I had hoped for. It's certainly not of professional grade but my lack of fix-it experience is a long running gag among those who know me. I can't believe I got this far- I am serious and not kidding. We came up with the last minute idea of using a back board that I think will really help stabilize the shelves. Unfortunately, when the guys at Home Depot were helping to figure out the last minute adjustments, they forgot to add in for the new board in the back and all the divider are 1/2" too long. Note: my girlfriend picked the stuff up today as one of my Father's Day gifts so I wasn't there to help with the adjustments. The guys at Home Depot did do a great job though!
So here is where we stand so far. There is a LOT still not screwed in for that picture you see with the shelves intact leaving it with a lean and much bigger gaps than it will finish with. I just wanted to get a feel for what it will look like and I am very excited to see what state it will finish.
I hope to be close to done by tomorrow evening.
Looks good so far.

Very nice. Are you going to paint it or stain it?
I am a fan of staining. Cherry red is my cup of tea. Actually my cup of tea is black tea, it is a more robust flavor.

I'm going to stain it with an almond color. Actually, the kids are going to stain it as the last step. They've pretty much been involved in the whole process. I spaced the shelves at a height of 6 inches using Surtur as a general guide for a big clix while leaving a little space but, interestingly enough, the GSX colossals fit in there too. I was very happy to see that!

I need 2 more people to play in my Facebook Mafia experiment. If anyone wants to play a game that will be very simple, this would be a good game to learn how to play.
Did you guys know that there is only one kind of tea plant? Black, green, and all the other fancy teas are from the exact same kind of plant.(assuming tea leaves are used in the tea)

My guess is it's the way it's prepared, like which spices are included. I have a black tea at home that is too bitter for me. I've had a really awesome green tea at a local coffee shop once. Too expensive for my liking (something like 4 bucks for 16 ounces).
I have a peppermint tea... Oh heck, I have a tea fetish. I have like 15 different kinds at home (though I've decided to bring some of it to work when I finally get my desk).

Right it's all in the spices, what was added to the soil it was grown in. The time and process of drying the leaves is one of the big factors. The drying is where the difference between black and green comes in.
I don't know why but it was interesting to me. From all the different kinds of out there you would think there was fifty different species of tea plant.
I thought it was convoluted, weighted down with excessive info-dumps, much of which was Johns era exposition.
I didn't get that impression at all. The information given seemed stripped down for speedy. fairly clean delivery.

Almost the only thing that bothered me in it was how dim and weak the original containment was for Parallax.

I agree, but to be fair Johns had to clean up several messes he inherited, including explaining away large chunks of Hal's continuity that will never have to be dealt with in the movie versions.

I went in expecting that as a simple consequence of the casting of Reynolds (he would have made a far more comics-accurate Kyle), so any annoyance I might have had was well out of my system months ago.

Agreement on all points, with the understanding that it was a critical point of character development that Thor was banished to Earth to learn humility; I wouldn't want someone to read the above and think that Thor is supposed to be a douche bag.
Back to GL: Any sense there was to that final scene (motivations for doing what he did) weren't there for us.

One would think that given that Hal had demonstrated that Willpower could trump Fear, one would think that would be the end of it. Presumably it was either just the lure of power in general or that specific power of Fear calling out to a fear buried deep in him that prompted him to act as he did, but it definitely felt tacked on and out of character based on what we'd seen.

Agreed.

I suspect they'll follow through with plans and take a chance on a sequel, though maybe they'll take some of the copious amounts of money they spent on the promotional budget this time and either save it or put it back into the actual film next time.
The weekend take was in the low $50 millions, and so at the bottom of the range the studio projected going in. I expect them to talk a good game in public, but internally I doubt the Warner execs and Geoff Johns are giving each other high-fives over its performance.

One would think. But, what is the point of a Mandarin Orange tea plant? Plus if people actually looked at the tea when they drink it the would see that it is more than just the tea leaves in it. Some of them look like there are pieces or fruit to pieces of rock. The closest thing to a a flavored tea that I like it, sweet tea, which doesn't count, peppermint tea, which I make by adding peppermint extract and only for when I am sick, and lychee infused tea, which tastes good as I love to eat lychee.

Regarding the WCW Invasion angle, that thing had such huge promise and then was such a huge letdown. One of the things that hurt it the most was that he didn't have ANY of the WCW stars over there. When he bought WCW, he got some contracts with it, but he didn't pick up any of the really large contracts that all of the main eventers had. That lack of star power hurt how well it went over. Sad as it could have been one of the best angles of all time, but it was botched from the get go.
I personally haven't watched much wrestling at all in the last several years. I started watching Ring Of Honor when it was on Dish but it went away and outside of Tough Enough I haven't watched much wrestling at all. I break out my ECW dvds from time to time. Now THAT was some great wrestling.
ECW! ECW! ECW!
