Tell you what, you negotiate with Hasbro and we'll see what we can do.
It's funny to me you guys were talking about this. I was thinking the other day why they haven't done G.I. Joe minis. Maybe I shouldn't be giving them any ideas at this point in the negotiations. Oops!
You know, you could actually have the start of something there. Sauron could be a character that can't be KO'ed, can't move out from the starting area, and is defeated when the rest of his force is. He could have useful support powers, but not be out on the front lines.
That would actually be the beginnings of an accurate Sauron.

Personally, I would actually prefer to NOT have a Sauron, only his servants. It was a major point of the books that Sauron could not be defeated by challenging him directly, thus the entire quest to destroy the ring.
As such, no attempts to make Sauron as a playable character will make me happy.
There are a few other characters I have similar feelings about from comics, such as the Endless from the Sandman series.
Im fine with it if its the sauron they show from the begining of the fellowship of the ring, The battle of the last alliance of elves and men on mount doom, because in that battle he was defeated by Gil-Galad, Elendil, and Isildur. He wasnt killed, he was just forced to leave his physical body. So I could justify it in my mind

Yeah I was thinking it could be the eye of sauron. And he could have line of sight to the whole map. Thatd be cool.
And If they have a Colossal balrog I hope they make in GSX colossal point range, because to me it wouldnt be thematic to have it in the Galactus, Starro, Dr Manhatten point range.

And that's my other issue regarding Sauron--no other LotR character should have a higher point cost than him (unless they do Silmarillian clix and make Morgoth).
A colossal figure begs for a high point cost, so it's conceivable that a Balrog could be more points than/able to easily defeat Sauron. And that would make me sad.
Although, how big was Sauron? Could he himself be colossal? I know that his physical body was larger than an average man, but how much larger?

Technically, KO doesn't stand for KILL, it stands for Knocked Out. So the armored up Sauron could be knocked out. Good point Velius.

Yeah pointwise sauron should be in the Galactus area, and the Balrog should be in the GSX colossal area. Actually if you think about it Gandalf and the Balrog should be about the same point value because when they fought it ended in a draw sort of (they both died).
But my feelings for the starter Sauron will probably be a love/hate thing. I will love that they have made a Sauron clix and that I can actually play him(my venue doesnt allow Galactus type colossals), and I will probably hate that they didn't make him powerful enough
As for the appearance of Sauron, Tolkien never says what he looks like exactly, so I guess Jacksons version is as good as any to use. My personal opinion is that he would be a giant and Morgoth would be a colossal. Also in the Simarillion Sauron liked to shapeshift alot and he seem to like to use spells more than fight like they showed in the begining of the fellowship of the ring, so im not sure what powers they should give him or what his range would be. Btw, my favorite duel in the Simarillion is Saurons spell(kinda of) duel with Finrod, and my second is Morgoths duel with Fingolfin
In any event, im having nerdgasms over thinking about the teams I would like to make with all the mordor clix
WonderCon is moving from San Francisco for 2012. The show's new home will be in Anaheim. Not sure if I like the move. On one hand, it means WonderCon will be moving closer to me. On the other hand, it means WonderCon will be moving closer to Anaheim, a city I despise almost as much as Bakersfield...
Also, Vlad, did you ever play Battle for Middle Earth 2?
My favorite army is Morder. I loved spamming orcs until I got attack trolls and then going on a destroying rampage with them.
I have not played that game. I think the only LotR video games I've played are the Two Towers/Return of the King games on playstation, and the Lord of the Rings Online game, which I just got into recently.
I think a friend of mine has Battle for Middle Earth, though. Not sure if he has both or just the first.
