I assume that if they used a fake claim and died, they would die as that fake claim instead of dying as mafia. If not, we could figure out who would have to be mafia by process of elimination, especially considering I am 100 percent sure that the mafia board doesn't have to use pseudonyms this time around.

Heh, I took that comment to be *so* scummy, that it was intentional to see if anyone took the bait.
Had a very tough time trying to figure out if that is your good list or your naughty list.
Don't really have anything to say. Day 1 always feels the same. We always argue whether or not to lynch someone and whether or not it's fair to them. I do t like the idea of potentially ousting a powerful town-friendly role early on.
Even still, this is a different type of game seeing that we all have two "lives".
I dislike that two players' only opinions on who to lynch are "don't lynch me."
Well, I really don't know what you expect of me. I'm a mediocre player at best, and I've never been good at reads this early in the game when we haven't even had a night phase. It would essentially just be taking a shot in the dark, and I figure not naming anyone is better than just pulling something out of my ass.

Man I'm just getting off work, I haven't had time to go back through the thread to see who stands out.
Honestly I'm leaning no lynch at this point, because nobody sticks out to me at the moment (may change after reviewing the thread) and we have no idea what the scum situation is. Normally I like D1 lynched because it sets up patterns you can analyze later on once more info comes to light. For a lot of reasons mosrly based on last game i don't think that type of analysis will be as helpful this game, so I'd rather not lynch a likely townie for no real benefit.

Am I on it?
No?
Then it's his good list.
See easy peasy.
Anyway, I'm still looking at most of this discussion as relatively snow heavy with some sunshine poking through.
The Lamplighter tangent in particular feels off. The pre-game Who is JL feels like it too, but for now I'm chalking that up to not following the story as closely as others so I don't know all the nuances.

Curious as to what feels off about it to you. Is it the people poking about the JL or how people being poked are reacting? Or something else?

I think you're a better player than you think you are. In terms of taking a shot in the dark, you really aren't. In any reads, especially early ones, there is no gun to your head that you have to be correct... they're purely reads. That's why I'm trying to encourage people to give reads a try this game, to move away from dependence on powers/write-ups, and see what comes of it.
I would prefer you pull a name out of your ass. I would prefer you vote for anyone than no one.
Still not a fan of day 1 lynches, but if I have to name someone, it'd be gfish. I think his approach adds to the noise and distraction, which is already considerable in a game with this many players. I've only played with him in one other game recently, and he did the same thing in that game, and was mafia.
I haven't played enough to know if he does the same thing when he's town.

In the beginning, it specifically says that mafia have been given fake claims. I've only played on other hybridity game that I can recall, but isn't the character selection open enough that you could come up with just about anything as a fake claim?
Or do returning characters from previous games make it more necessary?

Why?
To drill this down, would you agree that a D1 plurality lynch wouldn't really have been helpful in the last game? If not, how do you think it would've helped? If so, what makes you think this game is different enough that it will be helpful?
