What is the problem here? Why all the negative crying?
Wizkids is giving a cool extra in the boosters and there is all this complaints. How in the world will the tourney loose players? When you go to a tourney you know what you are playing for so you can go to multiple ones to try and win what you wanted. If you really wanted Wade Cole are you going to play in the event where he is a prize or keep buying $ 7.99 boosters (at least 16 if they are 3 to a case) and hope you pull him and not a U-Men LE? That is just dumb.
As for the complaints about having more to collect that is a obessive compulsive persons problem. I enjoy LE's and would like to win/find as many of them I can but if I win/find a figure I want I am not going to care about getting the gold/all gold version. If they make a Angelica Jones LE and it goes for $5.00 on the secondary market but the "Ultra Rare" Version is $30. The people that feel they have to own both need to to take a breath and look deep inside them selves and find help if they have the $5.00 one but gotta have the $30.00 gold one two. That is not Wizkids problem that is theirs and their alone. You will not die and it will not harm you in anyway if you do not have both versions I guarantee it.
I look forward to getting the MM LE's and I will be extremly happy to have a gold/white and gold lettering LE's living peacefuly side by side in my boxes where there will be no rascism or segragation among them. Spider-Man is my favorite character and I hope to pull the masterpiece version but if I do not I will not spend tons of money to own him I will go on living with no regrets. On a final note I hope the next set Wizkids will make super rare feat cards that are printed on transperent film instead of the plain stock that way those crazy collectors can have another fit when they have to have both prints.
Originally posted by rotru Well, I have to admit I'm stumped. If you don't enjoy collecting, and you don't seem too excited about owning, then what is the point in doing it?
You misunderstand. I never said that I don't enjoy the collection... the collecting is just something that has to be done to get to that end.

Interesting choice of words. You don't even seem to try to understand others' viewpoints.

People fear change. Be it good, be it bad. This is a change and we are uncertain of the reprocussions of this action. Some are using examples from alternate Wizkids games in their replys. I do think these people have valid arguements gainst the placement of Super Rares. Others look upon Topps and company's dealings in sports cards, creating higher and higher rarity values. This causes the market to skyrocket for a short time, then it dies out. In theory, it could destroy Heroclix.

Let's say that someone's luck (a tourney player, mind you) has them draw the Angelica Jones Super Rare figure. Since he wanted this piece badly, he was prepared to enter a tournament to win her. Now he no longer has to. Doesn't mean that he will not enter said tournament just the same, but it does pose a potential problem. Another thing to keep in mind is the person who pulls Angelica who doesn't want her. She immediately becomes trade fodder. This makes it easier to recieve her.

Indeed, we will not "Be harmed" or "Die" if we do not get all of the pieces. There is still something special that we, as collectors, feel when we complete a set. You need to be a little more sympathetic to others. Some people who ARE obsessive/compulsive are not to be treated in such a manner. Do not take this out of context, either. I am not reffering to anyone at HCRealms. I speak for anyone who is an obsessive/compulsive.

I'm glad you feel that way. All people should. Heroclix is a game of plastic pieces. They are not things to covet or get so worked up about. Good luck to you in pulling said Spiderman.

And again, you decide to be condescending in your reply. Please have a little courtesy and take into consideration all of the people here at the realms, especially those who have posted on this topic.
On a final note from myself, I am for the inclusion of Super Rare figures in boosters. If you think otherwise, you can search out my post from earlier in this thread.
thanks for once again helping the rich who can afford box after box and galactus after galactus even more richer, you have once again taken another step towards elitism, and setting yourself up to lose the players who cannot afford to buy 45 cases a set to collect each fig. Why not start getting the proper prize support to venues that hold tourneys and increase thier le's to give out making attendance at said events larger instead of rewarding the money hungry hordes who pimp your merchandise out online making a fortune for themselves from your dedicated players who are sick of getting taken to the bank every 4 months.

If I have the disposable income and the will to pick up the $30 version as well, why does that make me somehow "off balance"?

And here's where you are wrong. WK markets this game as a collectible miniatures game. The collecting part of it is something that they expect from us.

How does making LEs, both LEs and super rares, more plentiful equal a move towards elitism?
I have a system with my friend that works out well. We each buy boosters, and whatever doiubles we pull that each other needs, we hand it over for free, regardless of rarity and value. We're both trying to complete the sets, and this is beneficial for both of us.

You make it sound like all people who collect are obssive/compulsive. Do not mistake collectors for someone that has OCD (Obsessive/Compulive Disorder). People who collect stuff like this do it out of a love and passion for the game and/or characters. People with OCD are not collectors. They do not love what they do or have a passion for what they are obssessive about. In fact, it's just the opposite. It's a disorder that these people suffer with and fight to control every day of their lives.

Well, I can't argue with that one.

............despite me saying NOT to take it out of context, you did anyway. That's not what I was saying AT ALL. I thought I made myself clear in what I was trying to achieve with my words. I'm sorry that you mistook it for something else. I'm well aware of the situations with Obsessive/Compulsives, as I fall along the lines of them, though not with Heroclix. Mine is along a different aspect, and NO, I do not enjoy the feelings that come from such a thing. Thankfully, I am getting better. I was trying to reach out to Darkkrisp to be less offensive in what he/she says. Darkkrisp, to me, was talking about how people who must "collect" everything in the set had problems. This is of course not true. Again, I'm sorry if I offended you, Hair10. I never once intended.
I'm one of the guys who likes to collect all the Heroclix sets (American) anyway. I'm about 10 figures away from having all the sets from IC to Ultimates (you know pharzoof and irene adler are on that list). **sigh** So I guess I'm outta luck.
I guess Wizkids will make more moeny from this, so it's not like I can blame them for wanting to make more.
So hey Hair10, guess I'll see you on Ebay buddy when we're both bidding on that Masterpiece Spiderman...or better still, that Golden LE Sasquatch...

No, you did not. I did not catch what you were trying to say. I just didn't want anyone who doesn't understand the "collector's mentality" to think we've all been diagnosed with OCD. I have a degree in cognitive psych and I spent some time studying OCD (that and visual perception), so what you said sort of "struck a cord" with me. But it looks like I simply misinterpreted what you were tying to say.
And yeah... I caught the same meaning from darkkrisp's comments.

I can see how my words are misleading. I'm glad you're understanding, though. Thanks.
I can see why some people are getting upset. The ones who either have to have or want every single piece is kinda getting messed over. Instead of just 20 or 30 LE's at tournys to win you have to try and pull the same amount for the super rare ones as well.
I dont play, because I have no one in my small hick Missouri town to play with, so I collect, and I dont know how to play. That doesnt stop me from collecting though. I look at the LE's and super rares as this: Unless its a figure that hasnt been made before or has an TA that a REV didnt have, then I probably wont want it. I got lucky and got a Antman, bought it outright. If WK had made a REV of Antman that was just a puck, I would have settled for that. Others like Prof X, hover chair or wheel chair. I like both so I wanted both. I look at the super rares the same way. Unless its another Antman type, the ones out there that are the completist are gonna benefit from me wanting to trade for one that I dont have.
With the inclusion of super-rares and whatnot in a case, I want to buy one. This will be the first case Ive bought so WK has done their job of selling more cases. Plus they have given me more of what I want, cool looking figs.
I hope that this doesnt stop people from playing tournys to win the LE's. There may be one that I want and wont be able to get that they won. I might get lucky and pull a super rare that they wanted and didnt win. Trade time, we both get what we want. All in all, I think its a good thing what they are doing. Its gonna be interesting to look at the trade threads in a few weeks to see which of the LE's or the super rares are better to trade with.
