Wait, wait, what? People can not like Mike Mignola? Even if it's temporary?
It's true. As younger kids, Jeremiah and I didn't understand or appreciate the stylized nature of Mignola. We saw it as undetailed and lazy. Keep in mind that during the EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME 90's (As Thrumble put it minus a few consonants) that there were several HYPER detailed artists floating around that had artisitc styles that added in so much detail that it actually detracted from the art. As young kids, these were the kinds of artists we were drawn to. Have no fear, though. We grew up and so did our tastes. Mignola is a God among artists.

And he knows how to draw feet! Something I think Liefeld still hasn't figured out.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Note to self: next thread started must clearly state in OP "No politics, religion or what constitutes 'Real Marvel,' please."
Thus typed the guy who took the bait and now wishes he hadn't.
All I know is: when I started this particular non-specific thread, I had hoped it could be something different --- and now it's not. What exactly beyond being a place for friendly exchanges, I don't know. But I DO know a place to disparage/defend certain individuals within the comic book industry at great length was the FURTHEST thing from my mind, if only because places for that already exist for those who enjoy it.
Just sayin'.
Right about now, I kinda wish our renowned talent scout Commandercool would present an example of somebody to top that guy who turned a banana into an ocarina.
As always...just my two cents.
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
Well it may just be the style that you don't dig. I actually enjoy Bendis when he at his strongest (Dark Avengers being a great example), but if you're not a fan of the darker tone he brings to things, you're likely not going to dig him.
I'm at that place now with Matt Fraction. Read "Casanova" and didn't dig it, read his Punisher and didn't dig it, and read "Fear Itself" and found it to be a by-the-numbers exercise in big event futility. Can't really see what all the fuss is about.
I read and loved every issue of Daredevil that he and Maleev did.

As with before, I generally disagree with you. I think this conversation is still respectful and high-brow. It's yer thread, though.
You want talent to top the banana guy? You got it!

Sorry about that, but I've never been one to keep mum about what I think and I haven't been very happy with Marvel since they began going into overdrive pushing Wolverine and DC's been dropping the ball hard with their books a lot lately too and I think a lot of it has to do with the writers and artists deciding that they themselves are the real stars and not the characters.

Wait, huh? I didn't see anything here even remotely aggressive, snarky, or un-cordial in any way.
I seriously don't know what you're looking for with these things. We were all just...talking comic books, in a completely friendly manner.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?

I saw absolutely nothing wrong, rude, snarky, or out of sorts in the slightest regarding the above exchange, and am pretty baffled at how it could be viewed in any sort of negative light.
I just...don't get it. Are we supposed to avoid any and everything that even remotely resembles a topic? Aren't conversations (not arguments, but conversations) a part of "friendly exchanges?"
I think that if you want this thread to be something specific, it'd be helpful to detail exactly what you do/don't want in it. I just don't want to constantly feel like I've ruined something (kind of like you've insinuated in past Ogre threads) by stepping over a line that the drawer of said line can't/won't define.
I'm not being objectionable or argumentative, I'm legit confused.

I think the goal is to keep the discussion more PG, some of my points about Bendis and Ennis skirted R territory.
