Back from the Huntington Beach tournament. Total win/loss record for the event: 2-6.
Two of the losses were a matter of points. One loss was because I dropped out after seeing that my opponent was a douchebag who had talked some major s### about one of the players at my venue; I likely would have punched the douche out and gotten thrown out of the tournament if I hadn't chosen to just drop.
I've had my fill of highly competitive tournament play. I have learned that I simply don't enjoy that style of Clix. It's fine for others but it's just not for me.

I would've played him just so I could beat him. Then after beating him be like "This is how we play it at *insert venues name* #####!"

That's too bad. I find it's great when those players get brutally crushed.

I just would have won the tournament. You know, kind of like you did Spike, but instead I would have beat everybody. That's what I would do. If it was me.

Oh, that reminds me!
Flashpoint Flash: One of my players wanted to use two of them and Oracle (on ICWO) in the Golden Age tournament. Basically, he would Time Jump both Flashes, which would leave him with no figures on the map. He saw a thread where the deputies had ruled that it would result in a roll-off.
However, he ran the team past the head judge before the tournament began to get a ruling and was told he wouldn't be allowed to use that tactic. He didn't press the issue since he's a former judge and understands the saying of "the judge is always right, even if he's wrong" but I'm wondering what's your take on this?

Technically, that strategy would work, although I question the wisdom of going into a tournament planning on going to a roll-off every game. (Now if the strategy was to KO one figure, and then time jump, that would usually result in a win, which would make that a better play.)
However, the judge is certainly within his rights to say, "This would make for a bad play environment, so I'm going to rule it differently for this event."

I want to make barbecue ribs tonight, but I've never done it. Anybody know approximately how much barbecue sauce I need for a 1.5 pound package of ribs?

The best plan with that team, I think, it to run out and smash a special object if they have one, then Time Jump. Use Nanobots to eat gems and keys if it's golden age.
That said, I do sort of have a problem with the judge ruling that mid-tournament, or even before the tournament if it wasn't substantially in advance. That team is in very bad taste, even if it isn't great, but changing a rule to specifically hose one player is not okay in my opinion even if that player is a dick. I would not object though to the judge making that a rule from that point on or just telling that player that they aren't welcome back.

I don't think that one should tell a player he isn't welcome back because of one team, and certainly not if he checked with the judge beforehand (which spike says he did).

I wouldn't either, generally. It really depends on the player, how they used the team, why, their history at that venue, and so on. But I would still consider it an option. Probably never my first choice, but a player gaming the system in a way that's deliberately denying their opponents the opportunity to play the game that they showed up specifically for should at least raise a red flag. I feel the same way about old-school SIF. It's not Heroclix, and I wouldn't welcome it to a Heroclix game. It is a bizarre novelty, so playing it once strictly for novelty value in a good-natured way and maybe with a backup team to play against the opponent you've just screwed over could be fine. Bringing that team with the intent to win tournaments without having to play is not probably fine.
