Great game, adam and we more than understand about the delay.
Two things that I kept thinking of through the game:
1) I was quite surprised by how few people knew the early Avengers stories. Not a criticism of people, by any means, but I do hope adamical's great write-ups - which often were almost play-by-plays - entice you to check out those issues. They've been reprinted cheap enough in many forms now - not like when I had to shell out to track them down you lucky folks. - and while products of their time did set a standard for a reason.
2) I suspect I really owe Jack figuring "Rokk probably begged like a madman to get Hank" as keeping me alive when the Quebbs phases went down without me voting.
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

Rokk_Krinn- "Telling the truth and sticking by it always looks clumsier because it's not a pre-planned malice."
Silver Lantern Iron Man [Tony Stark] (Avengers #1)
Town: You win when all threats to the town are defeated.
The genius playboy heir of the Stark fortune, your traumatic wartime wounding has redefined your life. Forced to don a suit of armor to survive, you have become a hero, and you have taken the leading role in turning a chance encounter of special individuals into the Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Built-In Transistor Radar: You are the Cop. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. You will be told if your target is Town, Mafia, or Neutral.
[Hidden until Night 3]
[Night 3 Event!
Embarrassed at how easily he was incapacitated, Tony Stark has realized his armor is not ideal for his new role as one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. After brainstorming, he has drawn up blueprints for a new and improved armor. If you so choose, you may forfeit your night action to lock yourself in the lab and upgrade your armor.]
[After Upgrade]
MK III Armor Upgrade: Realizing that your armor is too bulky and vulnerable, you continue to make improvements. Each night, in addition to your normal copping action, you can also Clue Cop. You may target a player, and you will be told a hint to your target's identity.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
I originally had Iron Man getting the clue cop earlier and without skipping a night, but I got feedback that that was really strong, and it was. It was to partially compensate for the two mafia who had alignment cloaks. I only got to write one clue, which was "Retcon" for Jarvis. As it was, SL only got one action off before the night he died.
Jackofhearts2005 Thor [Donald Blake] (Avengers #1)
Town: You win when all threats to the town are defeated.
Banished by Odin to Earth to live in the guise of crippled mortal Don Blake, you have learned the importance of humility and the value of human lives. Having discovered your true Asgardian identity, you now wield the powers of Mjolnir in defense of your adopted homeworld.
God of Thunder: You are the Vigilante. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. That player will be defeated.
[Hidden: Asgardians: If Thor targets Loki, Loki will not be defeated, but will instead have a majority-2 vote threshold the next day]
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
A fairly straightforward role. I wanted the main Avengers to have most of the good powers, and as Thor is the most powerful, it made sense for him to be the vigilante. Jack was hit and miss, taking out Fredwood, who was mafia, but Velius and Linkor, who were town. In his defense, he would have killed Quebbster if he wasn't jailkept, although Quebbster was gunning for him that night.
Rokk_Krinn Ant-Man [Henry Pym] (Avengers #1)
Town: You win when all threats to the town are defeated.
A genius biochemist who discovered the size-altering humbly-named Pym Particles and developed a cybernetic helmet that allows him to communicate with ants, Henry Pym has become the costumed adventurer Ant-Man.
Ant on the Wall: You are the Reverse Tracker. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. You will be told the names of everyone who targets that player.
[Hidden until Night 2]
Pym Particles: You have gained an optional one-shot ability to transform into Giant-Man. You may use this power on any night. Once you initiate the transformation, you may not transform back into Ant-Man. You may use Giant-Man's powers the same night as the transformation.
Rokk_Krinn Giant-Man [Henry Pym] [Avengers #2]
Town: You win when all threats to the town are defeated.
A genius biochemist who discovered the size-altering humbly-named Pym Particles, you utilize their power to transform into a titan of justice.
Bearhug: You are the Jailkeep. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. You will Roleblock that player, causing them to fail in their action, and that player becomes untargetable to everyone else.
Giant Size: You have a +1 lynch threshold. It will require one vote more than majority to lynch you. This is a passive ability.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Rokk_Krinn did of course request Pym. I actually was thinking about not taking requests as I didn't want to see metagaming, but then I decided what the heck, I'll see how it goes. It wasn't disastrous, so I'll probably allow it in the future. I wanted to incorporate both Ant-Man and Giant-Man, but for balance reasons I didn't want one player to be able to choose between RT and JK, so I made the transformation permanent. Rokk was really in my head this game, and recognized a lot of what was happening with what I thought were rather sparse clues.
gfishfunk The Wasp [Janet van Dyne] (Avengers #1)
Town: You win when all threats to the town are defeated.
Once a flighty socialite, the death of your father catalyzed you into seeking out Henry Pym, and with the help of his Pym Particles, becoming the Winsome Wasp. Having developed feelings for Pym, you continue to accompany him on his adventures. When a chance meeting of superpowered individuals turns into the founding of a team, you are the one to name them "The Avengers."
Conservation of Mass: You are the Roleblocker. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. You will cause that player to fail in their action.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
gfishfunk seems to be a pretty popular night 1 death target. I think it's probably a sign of respect, but the mafia took him out night 1.
CaptThulkMan Captain America [Steve Rogers] (Avengers #4)
Town: You win when all threats to the town are defeated.
The great American hero of World War II, you were frozen in the Arctic whilst saving democracy. Discovered floating in the ocean by the Avengers, you have joined their ranks, and been named an honorary founder.
Vibranium Shield: You are the Doctor. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. That player will be protected from being defeated, and will be ready to fight the next day.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
The doctor just seemed like the obvious choice for Captain America and his shield. He had Thor's back both nights he was alive, and he ended up being killed by Loki's misdirected hit.
Immortal_Raven Rick Jones (Avengers #1)
Town: You win when all threats to the town are defeated.
Having been the cause of Bruce Banner's exposure to gamma radiation, you now strive to help the Hulk in order to make up for his mistake. Your radio broadcast brought together Hulk with Iron Man, Thor, Wasp, and Ant-Man, leading them to become The Avengers.
Radio HAM Enthusiast: You are the Guide. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. That player will successfully target who they intend to target, and will not be affected by misdirects, roleblocks, bus drives, bodyguards, magnets, or pushes.
[Hidden: If Rick targets The Teen Brigade, they are masoned for the rest of the game]
Clubhouse: You have targeted The Teen Brigade (Velius)! The two of you are now masons. You may contact one another through PMs for the rest of the game. The mod must be CC'd on all communications.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
I don't know if you guys realize how integral Rick Jones and the Teen Brigade were to early Avengers stories. They were in the first issue, and helped get the team together, and regularly helped the team defeat the bad guys. Rick Jones in particular has a place as Captain America's sort-of sidekick. Originally Rick Jones and Velius were going to start off masoned, but Darq had a good point about that giving them auto-claim verification. He did guide Jackofhearts when Jackie was jailkept, but I posted in the rules that a jailkeep trumps a guide. He did have great targeting, though.
Velius The Teen Brigade (Avengers #1)
Town: You win when all threats to the town are defeated.
Having been formed by Rick Jones to help assist the Hulk, you now have a whole team of superheroes that you get to help out.
Radio HAM Enthusiasts: You are the Note Passer. Each night, you may submit the name of a player and a note to the mod. The note may contain any information you want to share privately. The mod will send that note to the player, without revealing your identity. That player will be given the option of responding once by the end of the next day phase. You may not communicate directly with your target.
[Hidden: If Rick targets The Teen Brigade, they are masoned for the rest of the game]
Clubhouse: You have targeted Rick Jones (Immortal_Raven)! The two of you are now masons. You may contact one another through PMs for the rest of the game. The mod must be CC'd on all communications.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Like Rick Jones, the Teen Brigade was a big part of early Avengers adventures, featuring in most issues. They were crucial pieces of beating the Masters of Evil in Avengers #7 by switching out the canisters of adhesive X for the solvent, and in Avengers #8 they tricked Kang into letting them on his spaceship so they could free the Avengers. I was disappointed that Velius never had to claim, because I was curious to see what the reaction would be to his role. Nothing really came of his note pass.
KrisL Spider-Man [Peter Parker] (Avengers #11)
Town: You win when all threats to the town are defeated.
As a teenager, Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and adopted the costumed identity of Spider-Man! Thanks to the propaganda campaign launched by your boss, J. Jonah Jameson, you are hated and feared throughout New York City. You have swung by to lend the Avengers a hand!
Web-Slinger: You are the Misdirector. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. That player will no longer target who they meant to; instead, their action will be randomized. If they choose to take no action, this will not force them to take an action.
Not yet an Avenger: You have a neutral alignment cloak. If targeted by an alignment Cop, you will appear neutral. You still are a member of the town and will autopsy as such. This is a passive power.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
So Rokk_Krinn pretty much read my mind when he surmised that Spider-Man might just be here to mess with people, especially since the Spider-Man robot and Space Phantom were running around. I really thought both Loki's reference to "didn't I deactivate you" and the Space Phantom hit on Zyxba as Spider-Man would put KrisL in hot water, but he managed to talk his way out of trouble both times. He was never copped; none of the alignment cloaking ever came into play. He was originally a bus driver, but he got depowered at Darq's suggestion when I downgraded the mafia push to a Bus Drive. It probably simplified targeting to not have another bus drive running around. KrisL played well, and I think his upfrontness helped circumvent the sketchiness of his role.
Linkor Jarvis [Edwin Jarvis] (Avengers #1 1/2)
Town: You win when all threats to the town are defeated.
As the personal butler of Tony Stark, you were retconned to be present in his mansion for the first meeting of the Avengers (despite not appearing in comics until a year later). Now that Tony has transformed his house into Avengers Mansion, you are the personal manservant of the entire team, a job that is surely too much for any one man, and yet you bear it all with a stiff upper lip.
Keeper of the Mansion: You are the Tracker. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. You will be told who that player targeted.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
So fun fact, Jarvis actually wasn't in the Avengers at their founding. The character wasn't even created until late 1964 in Iron Man. However, he was retconned in to early Avengers continuity in Avengers #1 1/2, so I thought it would be fair game to use him. I was curious to see what Rokk had to say about his claim, actually, but Linkor didn't talk until the end of the day Quebbs got lynched, and then Thor smashed him. For the record, he was not at all a Skrull; that was just time becoming unwound and Secret Invasion creeping in to the Silver Age. The same thing happened to the character autopsies on the front page. I don't think Linkor ever got an accurate result, as zyxba magneted him the first 3 nights, and on night 4 he tracked Quebbs using an untrackable kill.
rorschachparadox Loki [Laufeyson] (Avengers #1)
Neutral: You win when you are the only undefeated player left in the game.
The adopted younger brother of Thor, you bear a jealousy and resentment only a younger sibling can truly understand. Having been beaten by Thor many times in the past, you wish to avenge your own past defeats. You will not stop until you have defeated everyone, showing them all that Loki is truly a foe to be respected.
You are the Serial Killer. Each night, you must submit the name of a player. That player will be defeated.
God of Lies: On odd nights, your action will be untrackable.
God of Mischief: On even nights, your action will be unblockable.
[Hidden: Asgardians: If Loki targets Thor, Thor will not be defeated, but will instead have a majority-2 vote threshold the next day]
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Night 1, Loki took out K-Ness, who was mafia, putting the mafia down a man. Night 2, he was misdirected by KrisL into Cap. I wasn't sure how obvious I wanted to be in the writeup, but I guess in the end I made it too obvious that both Spider-Man was in the game and also that Kris misdirected a kill. It was too bad rorschach never tried to defend himself, however. I guess maybe he needed an unmisdirectable kill more than an unblockable kill.
zyxba Sub-Mariner [Namor] (Avengers #3)
Neutral (Survivor): You win if you are still alive at the end of the game.
Once a hero and ally for justice, you have discovered that your home kingdom Atlantis has been destroyed by the reckless nuclear testing of the humans. Angered and on a search for your citizens, you frequently come into conflict with Earth's heroes.
Imperius Rex: You are the Magnet. Each night, you must submit the name of a player. That player's action will target you instead of their intended target. If they have chosen to take no action, they will not be forced to target you.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
I think my biggest mistake in the game was not giving Namor some form of protection from magneted night kills. Zyxba did the smart thing, and targeted Linkor all three nights, since he knew Linkor wouldn't kill him. That would be the one thing I would change, although I would be afraid that creates another chance to stop a nightkill, putting the mafia at a disadvantage. In the end, he was killed because the mafia powercopped both zyxba and Jackofhearts, but got mixed up and thought zyxba was the vig. Things might have gone much differently if Thor died night 3 instead of another neutral, especially since Thor's hit would have been randomly misdirected since it was a MD-hit.
Girathon Vuk [of the D'Bari] (Avengers #4)
Neutral (Town-Friendly Survivor): You win if you are still alive at the end of the game, but only if the town wins or another neutral is alive at the end of the game. You cannot win with only the mafia.
A member of the D'Bari alien species, your spaceship crashlanded into Earth's oceans many many many years ago. Your ship is too deep to be repaired, but you are unable to raise it to the surface alone. Waiting for humankind to develop the necessary technology to assist you, you realize that the superpowered beings appearing around the world may be able to help you return home. Armed with your ray gun that turns its victims to stone, you seek to obtain their help by any means necessary.
Ray Gun: You are the Jailkeep. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. You will Roleblock that player, causing them to fail in their action, and that player becomes untargetable to everyone else.
Alternate Win Condition: Forced Recruitment: If at any point in the game you have successfully transformed either three specific heroes or three specific villains to stone, you will leave the game a winner.
[Hidden: 4 heroes to target are Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man/Giant-Man, and Wasp; 4 villains to target are Loki, Sub-Mariner, Kang, and Immortus; Need 3 of either one]
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Night 1, he targeted Ant-Man, and Night 2, he targeted Iron Man, so he was well on his way to meeting his alternate win condition, which was added at ChiRocker's suggestion. He was originally a silencer, but Darq pointed out that I would hate the lower day participation that would cause. Girathon was killed night 2, as the mafia had figured out Night 1 that he was a blocker of some sort.
spworldtour Space Phantom(Avengers #2)
Mafia: You win when all threats to the Mafia are defeated.
A servant of Immortus trapped in Limbo, you have forgotten your previous identity and now use your assimilation ability to help Immortus conquer the Avengers.
Assimilation: You are the Power Copier. Each night, you may submit the names of two players. You will copy the power of the first player and use it to target the second player. You will not be told what power you have copied. You may not copy the same player more than once.
Assimilation Hit: If you are chosen to make the hit, you will perform a power copy hit. You will submit the name of a player to copy and a player to defeat; your hit will have the added properties of the copied player's power.
Totally Identical: You have an alignment cloak. If targeted by an alignment cop, you will appear to have the alignment of the player you copied.
[Hidden: Asgardians: If Space Phantom attempts to copy Thor or Loki, he will automatically fail and have a majority-1 vote threshold the next day]
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Space Phantom was actually really powerful. He had an alignment cloak, which never came into play, as he failed the night the cop targeted him, but the cop died that night anyway. He also had a writeup cloak, since he would appear in the writeup making a hit as the person he copied. I didn't let him copy the same person twice because I felt like he needed a limitation on his power, but it probably wasn't necessary since he couldn't copy the vig or serial killer anyway. spworldtour played well, but I think what doomed him was claiming a power copy, which didn't make much sense for Hawkeye, when he could have gotten away with just the name claim. I was really surprised when Rokk picked up that the Space Phantom made the hit on Namor on basically zero clues; seriously, I described a fight between Spider-Man and Namor. I think if Rokk hadn't been around to bring up Space Phantom as a possible mafioso, spworldtour might just have pulled it off. It would have probably been more comic accurate to have spworldtour roleblock/JK the person he was copying, but I thought that would have been too powerful.
Fredwood Kang the Conqueror (Avengers #8)
Mafia: You win when all threats to the Mafia are defeated.
A genius from the future, you have used your incredible technologies and vast knowledge of history to embark on a life of conquest throughout time. Repeatedly coming into conflict with Earth's heroes, you once again seek to defeat the mightiest of all: The Avengers.
Paradoxical Time Travel: You are the Bus Driver. Each night, you may submit the names of two players. Anyone who attempts to target the first player will target the second, and vice versa.
Paradoxical Time Travel Hit: If you are chosen to make the hit, your hit will be unblockable.
Master of Time: You are the Co-Don of the mafia with Immortus. If Immortus is defeated, your lynch threshold will be 2/3 majority. This is a passive power.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Fredwood requested Kang, in a rather enthusiastic fashion (a pm titled "KANG KANG KANG KANG KANG KANG"). Working with that request, I decided the mafia would be the masters of time, starring Kang and Immortus as co-dons. It's actually really cool what Lee and Kirby did with the Kang character, first introducing him as Rama-Tut in Fantastic Four before having Kang show up in Avengers. Unfortunately, Fredwood failed to check in on Day 2, leading the vig to take him out Night 2. He originally had a push, but that got downgraded to a bus drive and Spidey got downgraded from a bus drive to a misdirect.
Quebbster Immortus (Avengers #10)
Mafia: You win when all threats to the Mafia are defeated.
A possible/alternate/future version of Kang, you have become more wise and even-tempered. Offered the job of protecting a sliver of time by the alien Time-Keepers, you accept and have become the lord of Limbo, a realm outside of time. Still, your inability to conquer Earth's heroes gnaws at the back of your brain, and so you have joined with one of your past/alternate selves to defeat The Avengers. From your fortress in Limbo, you can observe and manipulate the timestream.
In Limbo, Out of Time: You are the Power Cop. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. You will be told that player's power.
In Limbo, Out of Time Hit: If you are chosen to make the hit, your hit will be untrackable.
Master of Time: You are the Co-Don of the mafia with Kang. If Kang is defeated, your lynch threshold will be 2/3 majority. This is a passive power.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
I probably should have replaced Quebbs, but he managed to stay alive for quite some time despite a lack of participation. Silver Lantern copped him Night 2, presumably because of his silence, but SL was Jailkept and so his copping failed. Outliving Kang, Quebbs got the 2/3 majority, which may have kept him in the game a touch longer. He did successfully make an untrackable hit while being tracked, which is something.
K-Ness Spider-Man Robot(Avengers #11)
Mafia: You win when all threats to the Mafia are defeated.
In search of a means of defeating the Avengers, Kang determined Spider-Man would have the best chance of any of Earth's heroes. With his vast technological wizardry, he created you, a robot doppleganger of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Lead Them Astray: You are the Misdirector. Each night, you may submit the name of a player. That player will no longer target who they meant to; instead, their action will be randomized. If they choose to take no action, this will not force them to take an action.
Lead Them Astray Hit: If you are chosen to make the hit, your hit will be unmisdirectable.
Hey, It's Spider-Man!: You have a neutral alignment cloak. If targeted by an alignment cop, you will appear neutral. You still are a member of the mafia and will autopsy as such. This is a passive power.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Unfortunately, K-Ness was taken out by the serial killer Night 1, which put the mafia down in numbers early and took him out of the game. At least I had fun writing his Night 1 fight scene, though. Like the real Spider-Man, he was a misdirector, and they both had neutral alignment cloaks, since in the comics he fooled the Avengers into thinking he was the real Spider-Man. I was disappointed he died before he could cause all sorts of webhead-related confusion; I think KrisL might have had a tougher time of it if K-Ness hadn't been autopsied Night 1.
Mafia Powers:
Each night, each member of the mafia may take an action. Each night, exactly one member of the mafia must be given an action to make a hit instead of their regular action.
Fakeclaim: Hawkeye is not in this game. Use this information however you wish.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Hawkeye was a provided fakeclaim. I figured between that and the alignment cloaks on spworldtour and K-Ness, the mafia would have a bit of plausible deniability.
Kris you lucky bastard. You MD'd me from killing you!
Just you wait until there's a game where I get a kill power. You will rue that day. Rue!
As for the game, great job adam! This was your first time modding a game? Could have fooled me! I thought there was a lot of complexity to it, which kept things interesting.
Personally, I feel like I'm starting to get better at this whole mafia thing - but oh man, do I have a long ways to go if I ever want to be on the level of guys like JoH and Rokk. Seriously, those guys pick up on the smallest details. Especially JoH - every time that guy posts a breakdown, I feel dumb, because it's always like "Of course! It's so obvious now! Why didn't I see that? "
Good play by spworldtour too. Really sowed a lot of confusion in this game.
If it makes you feel better, I didn't meta guess Rokk as town. Rokk and Link went on my suspect list after the first failed Quebbster lynch but we knew Pym was around and Rokk was the only unclaimed player besides me. Just process of elimination.
Link didn't have the rock solid claim Rokk had (even though Rokk hadn't claimed yet), was bargaining with the town, and taking semi credit for a Quebbster lynch, which I found scummy. I guess it was really his newness.
Quebs was obviously scum.
Something Fred said bugged me. Can't remember what.
Velius was a shot in the dark. He tends to do well as an info gatherer and he's good about voting but he stays pretty quiet if he's mafia or a non info gathering role. It makes him a weak townie and a strong mafia member. I took a gamble and unlike the Fredwood attack, this one didn't pay off.
I love the triggers and power swaps, btw. Very intricate and themey.
Night 1:
The vigilante and the MD sit this one out. Girathon Jailkeeps Rokk, and spworldtour copies his power to jailkeep zyxba (it's a blind power copy, for the record). Actually, the mafia meant to copy Quebbster's power cop, but they then busdrove Quebbster and Girathon. That was a bit of a brain fart.
Rorschach takes out K-Ness, and K-Ness hits gfishfunk, letting me write a pretty descriptive scene of the Wasp and Spider-Man fighting. For the record, probably 75-80% of the dialogue in the writeups was directly cribbed from the comics, and most of the events were, too. Thanks, Stan (the Man, not stralkowski)! Also, the titles of the Night Write-Ups were from the comics, too; The Mighty Avengers Meet Spider-Man! was the title of Avengers #11, from which most of this fight scene is taken. It's just transported from the Temple of Tirod to Avengers Mansion. But yes, Wasp hits the Spider-Man robot in the groin, who later retaliates with a webbing fly-swatter. I'm pretty sure these issues are on Marvel Unlimited, I recommend them.
Day 2: Not much happening. Nothing incriminating got pulled up. JackieO starts random pressure, but then stops because it would be unsporting. I was actually hoping he might get some pressure on some more dubious townies; only half the town has solidly town roleclaims. Silver Lantern claims, leading to his jailkeep, while Fredwood, Quebbster, and rorschach are much too silent for their own good.
Night 2:
Silver Lantern cops Quebbster, but is jailkept by Girathon, who needs to target three heroes. Immortal Raven, Rokk, and Velius all target Silver Lantern in a helpful fashion, but the JK trumps them all, even the guide.
The mafia powercops both zyxba and Jackofhearts, and this I thought was crazy. They had two bus drives available to them, and Fredwood even asked if he could busdrive himself, which he was allowed to. They could have had a second bus drive available if they had copied Fredwood. I was stunned that they didn't use their bus drive to protect themselves; things may have gone a lot differently. Fredwood does the hit on Girathon, which once again lets me identify the killer in the writeup. I thought Kang rewinding time to send Vuk home to be consumed by Dark Phoenix was a suitably devious hit. Fun fact, according to Avengers #4 (where Vuk appeared), the long lived Vuk was what inspired the legends of Medusa, who apparently didn't exist.
But anyway, Thor decides to smite Fredwood, leading to the epic Kang/Thor battle which came straight out of Avengers #8 (again, the title "Kang, the Conqueror!" comes from Avengers #8). Rokk noticed that it was largely a play by play, edited down a bit for length. Again, almost all of the dialogue was from the comic; I just edited out some particularly incriminating passages.
Also, rorschach decided to kill KrisL, but KrisL luckily misdirected rorschach. I decided for misdirects that a misdirected player would not target either himself or his original target, and Loki ended up hitting CaptThulkMan. The writeup was maybe a little too obvious, but at the same time, Kris kind of caught Loki red-handed.
Day 3: Rorschachparadox gets lynched fairly easily, although a train was started on the silent Quebbs before that, which he somehow manages to avoid.
Night 3:
Silver Lantern takes the opportunity to upgrade his armor, not knowing what the upgrade entails.
Quebbster tried to power cop Rokk, but was misdirected by Kris into Linkor. When Linkor tracked Quebbs, he saw Quebbs targeting himself, indicating that Quebbs didn't make the kill.
spworldtour used his power copy hit to copy Spidey's misdirect and target zyxba, thinking he was the vig. This made zyxba magnet Rokk, but IR had guided Rokk, so Rokk was not affected. The writeup showed Spider-Man (who Space Phantom copied) taking out Namor. Namor's dialogue was largely cribbed from Avengers #3 and #4 (and "The Avengers Meet... Sub-Mariner!" was the title of Avengers #3). It was a case of mistaken identity, as the mafia had powercopped both zyxba and Jackofhearts, but got confused as to which one was which. It would have been a different ballgame if they had gotten a townie instead of another neutral (the mafia took out 2 neutrals with their hits), and the misdirect would have sent Thor's hit wild.
Thor decided to take out Velius, which made for an awkward writeup. I couldn't exactly have Thor splitting teenage heads open like watermelons, so instead he just disbanded the club. It seemed fitting. I guess he came across more like Cap than Thor in the writeup, though; I was just trying to make it corny.
Day 4: Somehow, Rokk puzzles out that the Space Phantom is here, and somehow, Quebbster escapes a lynch for another day. Not sure how either of those things happened.
Night 4:
This was an interesting night. Rokk transforms into Giant Man and jailkeeps Thor, which turns out to be crucial. Immortal Raven tries to guide Thor, but my JK has priority over my guide, as stated in the order of operations on the front page. I phrase the jailkeep as a block plus making the jailkept player untargetable to anyone else. Thor was going to vig hit Quebbster, but Rokk stopped him with the jailkeep.
Silver Lantern cops spworldtour, which would be fine with the alignment cloak, but spworldtour has tried to copy Jackofhearts, who was jailkept (He would have failed at copying Thor even without the JK). This meant he had no alignment cloak. But, KrisL misdirected Quebbster, who was attempting to kill Thor (and would have failed thanks to the jailkeep), into Silver Lantern, meaning the mafia result would die with Iron Man.
The writeup has Immortus making the kill. In Avengers #10 (which is dramatically titled "The Avengers Break Up"), which is where Immortus first appears, Immortus summons champions from the past to fight the Avengers. He has Goliath (the Biblical Philistine) battle Giant-Man, Merlin battle Iron Man, and Hercules (who is and who isn't the one who later joins the Avengers) battle Thor. Since Quebbster intended to target Thor, Hercules was the one who was summoned, but with the misdirect, Hercules ends up bear hugging Iron Man before vanishing back into history. I thought Rokk might pick up on the Immortus hit, but he surmised it was the Space Phantom copying him, which wasn't a bad bet, honestly.
Day 5: Finally, they get around to lynching Quebbster, though it takes 2/3 majority. Linkor manages to claim in a very suspicious fashion at the end of the day, making him a prime target.
Night 5: Since Kang and Immortus are gone, and Immortus is supposed to be the Keeper of the Timestream, things go a bit haywire. I posted a list of fake autopsies on the front page, and had Kang and Immortus arguing about timestream disruptions and generally being arrogant and insufferable. The time disruption didn't actually have any effects on the game mechanics, I was just messing with you guys. You still had 24 hours and majority was still 3/5.
Thor took out Jarvis, and in this case it was Ragnarok (too much Marvel Puzzle Quest) taking out the Skrull Jarvis imposter, thanks to the timestream slip. Again, Jarvis was town the whole game.
spworldtour tried to copy Rokk to kill Jackofhearts, but Rokk jailkept the Space Phantom. Since he was copying Rokk, I decided to make them both Goliaths; really, that should have sent Pym to Limbo, but I didn't think about that until just now. I referred to them both as Goliaths since Hawkeye would later take the identity of Goliath after Pym left the Avengers, and spworldtour has claimed Hawkeye. That didn't cause as much confusion as I thought it would.
Final Day: The town lynches spworldtour in pretty short order. Apparently sp couldn't get online until he was pretty much lynched, which is unfortunate. I thought he might be able to talk them into lynching Immortal Raven first, and I think if he hadn't claimed power copy they may not have gone for him.
The final day writeup is pretty much cribbed from Avengers #2 (which is titled "The Avengers! Battle... the 'Space Phantom'"), with Spider-Man filling in for Hulk and/or Iron Man where necessary. There's also a final bit with the timestream being restored. I almost ended the game the same way Avengers #10 ends, with time being rewound to the beginning of the issue, and the Avengers completely unaware that they ever faced Immortus, but I decided since the Space Phantom was the final foe standing, that it would end how it did.
And that is that. Whew. Good game. Modding is more work than it looks like. Thanks again for playing, thanks to Darq and Chi for helping me with my roles, and thanks to the Mighty Marvel Bullpen for the stories that I plagiarized from.
Yea, those writeups were straight up play-by-plays when I could pull it off. I reread the first year of Avengers as inspiration for this game, and I really though it would be fun to pull as much of the comics in as I could.
