i really don't like one drops unless they can be useful in later turns, so far only a couple of one drops do that, and dazzler and longshot( for his effect, not stats) are two of them.
moira can be good, but she is just not good enough, too fragile, and the x-men have better cards, that are less risky that do the same thing allready.
Originally posted by ObsidianKnight Here is my deck. First thing you will say its too BIG. You notice some people have been running 61 cards. I run a whopping 63. I have no problems with hitting my drops at all.
When I get some weapon of choices they will replace something but they are goin in.
I have a bunch of characters I noticed that having a variety has helped me greatly. Also depending on my hand I can play multiples of the same drop to really get FBS off and still have attackers.
2 drop
_______
x3 nightcrawler
x2 bishop
x3 cyclops
x3 bamfs
x4 cerebro
x2 blind sided
x1 avalon space station
x1 xaviers school
x1 overload
x3 flying kicks
x4 savage beats
x1 press the attack
x4 children of the atom
x4 fast ball special
x3 not so fasts
The origianl build of this deck was based on the storm archangel combo along with bamf. The more I play tested and more I learned about how other decks work I made changes along the way to this monster. I really want to use havok but being not able to use him on the turn he drops is a killer.
Fast ball special is THE card in any xman deck. My deck has a nasty habit of staying around from the cota. I still play test it constantly and might add ultimate sacrafice and outback strong hold I think is a diamond in the rough.
Let the fast balls fly. :devious:
Heres the new build. I really dont like getting rid of my press the attacks and blind sideds. The look on someones face after they TRY to reinforce someone by another character and you play BS its great. Also I didnt want to lose 6 drop storm cuz of CS attacking from support row very defensive on 6. Most people dont use combat reflexes. Also today on turn 6 I pulled off a double FBS and 2 PTA it was amazing. I understand that was like hitting the lottery but you should have seen my buddies face hehehe. ANYWHO.......
Cyclops is a lot like Caretaker and Robin
just think of his effect as this
+7/+2, much better than both other guys
he is definitely underrated by a lot of people
eDiT: sorry, didnt realize what that the post i read
wasn't the last post in thread..well anyways
the deck looks better
im not sure about Shadowcat
and i definitely like Cyclops more than Bishop
but if a lot of people play CS where you play
than Bishop will probably be better
dont attack me or anything for this,
but are 4 Bamfs really necessary?
at least the times i've run Xmen
3 seemed enough
then you can add a 3rd Nasty Surprise to the deck
RRAAAAAA ( me attacking you :) ) no i played with 3 bamfs and i never pulled one go figure that. when i play with 4 i always pull at least 2 or 3. dude the numbers game gives me the finger :( .
yes i love cyke he is a great 2 drop but like i said lots of people play cs and tt. so my bishop takes out 3 drops down and usually lives. today i sic'd em on arsenal all day. i ran 50% versus that deck.
im also thinking about removing the 2 NS and add 1 total anarchy and 1 flying kick.
Jeez, I've been starting to lose faith in my luck...
Over the past week that I've been playing, I've been getting horrible draws. Never seeing Cerebros, or CotA. Missing drops left and right, and never having enough plot twists only add icing to the cake.
Anyway, I've been thinking more about Xmen and their skills. Basically, I'm back to a stand still. The Xmen, just like in the comics, and tv shows, and movies, and video games, are all about their diversity. What makes them so liked is the fact that everyone has extremely different powers. Their team is represented in that sense. They have all sorts of tricks and such, but they're total versality keeps them from really working together all the time. If there was some kind of search card, Xmen could be godly, because you can put in all sorts of characters, and always have the right character for the first situation. There is a Xmen card that can handle just about every situation.
And all this does in the end is just frustrate me. So I'm going back to one of my original deck ideas, playing drops 1 through 7, and really old cards like Xavier's School and such with Fastball Special, and just see if I can get any new inspiration or enlightenment.
I have always been a fan of the one drop, mainly because others aren't. this gives me an extra field advantage as long as I can maintain the equality of the war of attrition.
Small drops become VERY problematic when you don't remove them iniitially. Anyone who has seen Oracle, and characters like her will agree.
Moira, if left unattended to, allows at least one extra CotA, without having to use extra cards, and if you don't use her ability, her warm body is useful for other card tricks that you may not want to use with higher drops (finishing move, fastball special, etc.)
I have, and probably always will be a big fan of the one drop. In this current meta, not many decks are running 1 drops to begin with and as kilroy said in the war of attririon, more bodies are always better. Besides, XMEN are the one team that can actually benefit from having more characters on the field. Alot of the X decks that I've seen lately, really try to take advantage of the numbers game.:devious:
prolink, don't give up yet, it is true the x-men do seem like they are all over the place, it makes them harder to play alone. but do they have alot of different team-up potential, most likely the most out of all the teams in Vs, they fit into alot of different stratigies.
as for a pure x-men deck, the best bet is to pick a theme and go all out, with then find another smaller theme to incorparate into it.
like go with discard, with a stall back-up, or a beatdown backup.
i play full -on beatdown, but my charachters have alot of utitlity, such as iu play with three different 4 drops.
2- rogue
2-gambit
2-storm
we all know that rogue is a great drop. gambit is versus titans and other weenie builds, and strom can shut down flight for CS, making my formations harder to get through.
cerebro, while not a true searcher, is a great curve filler, it is like you are drawing 4 cards per turn. by turn 7, with cerebro out on turn 2, you have gone through-30 cards, 34 if you mulligan, without cerebro, you only get about 20. a big difference. and it helps you pick and choose what charachter you want to play at a certain drop. cerebro is usually my mulligan condition.
on another note, while we are talking about favorite charachters at a particular drop, we have touched on the two drop and one drop, how about the 6 drop.
some good choices here,
collossus, withhis 16 attack.
rogue- an auto ko'er
storm-good utility
emma frost- discarder
i have usually only been playing with collossus, but have found the rogue to be so helpful, i now use 3 collossus and 3 rogue. i play vs sentinels to get rid of bastion and vs MK if i know they will spider-man.
on turn 7 i will be onthe defense, and need to counter attack as hard as possible, spider-man stops that, and bastion is just nasty, so getting rid of them as soon as possible is great.
I love the 6 Rogue as well, however she clashes with my 4 drop, which is only PA Rogue, I don't wanna KO a character for mere uniqueness.
Turn 6 I play Emma Frost, with PA Rogue, that's a 4 card hand difference, with Emma's first effect used twice. Storm is great on 6 when I have the undesired odd int.
Every time I underestimate Cerebro, it proves to me what its for, I just hate when COTA's and Bamf!'s are passed over. I tried running Thinking Outside the Box along with Jean Grey and Phoenix, but too many cards were used to prevent one thing.
I wanted to try Spidey/X-Men just for the Jean Grey/Costume Change combo.
Oh yeah...CAN WE GET AN EMMA FROST AVATAR IN THE X-SECTION!
Prolink, hang in there:)
trust me it can very frustrating sometimes with these mutants, but hey if we wanted to take the easy way out, you'd play some other team. The best thing i can tell you is to keep it simple, and it'll work. i can't tell you the number of times I have built and rebuilt a deck, just because a certain 12 year old stomped the bejesus out of me:ermm:
Just take a breath, and take it easy remember to take 1 play at a time
you do know, that cerebro does not lessen the probability of you drawing a particular card, it only makes you miss what you would not draw anyone if cerebro was not out.
of course, it looks that way, cuz you just see what you miss.

One thing I learned about cerebro is only use it when you miss your drop. The only other time is if Im struggling to power up someone to keep them alive.
By me being disciplined in that mantra I lose less critical cards due to cerebro. Thus me having less than 3 or 4 cards in a slot doesnt kill me cuz of the limited and control cycling of the deck.
